There's street parking right in front, but also make sure to look up the store's hours beforehand because they're open only on specific days. We love supporting local talent and feel that our money goes to a great cause as every participant in the show is a student (sometimes they do have guests to help fill certain roles or parts). Overall, your money goes to helping students build confidence, community and collaboration at circus. By attending shows or purchasing merchandise, the money gets put back into the circus school. Each year, the theme of the show is different and students weave in and out of the program. Once they are a senior, students move on. My family has been attending for so long that I recognize many of the former talent now being volunteers or riggers on set. I am always amazed at the talent and even more, how it's local and in our own community. Skills range from silks, tumbling, roller skating, trampoline jumps, aerial, acrobatics, juggling and more. Each show typically runs about 3 hours with a 20-minute intermission. There are small vendors onsite that serve the standard hot dogs, chips, sodas, candy bars and even Cold Stone creamery has had a both the past couple years serving up ice cream. It's truly an honor to be under the high top. As they say at the end - may all your days be circus days! Thank you to all the students, coaches and volunteers! Bravo!!

We attended Circus Juventas' Blizzard show this week. I wasn't sure what to expect having only seen…read moreone Cirque du Soleil show. What I didn't expect this to be was a show put on by kids! WOW! Blizzard was a culmination of several Christmas stories using the setting of Santa's Workshop. Christmas play meets Cirque du Soleil. These kids are no joke! The acting, strength, and fearlessness of these kids is amazing! If you weren't sure it's worth going don't, go! Bring your family and support these talented kids. Looking forward to seeing more of these shows in the future.

I took a group class at Northern Clay center and it was amazing! We had 11 brand new students…read morelearning about throwing pottery for the first time (so we all needed individual attention) and the instructor was so friendly and able to help us all! I thought maybe we would each make one piece, but we each got to make 4 or 5 bowl-like objects (you got to pick) and to paint them. We also used the break room to order food, since pottery in the morning was hungry work. Northern Clay is giant inside- I had not idea looking at it from the street. There is a parking lot right by the building, so you don't have to worry about street parking. We had a great time, and will be back to pick up or art in 3 weeks! I definitely recommend the group classes or private parties, which came out to ~$50 per person.

The pottery is grouped by artist, which made it easy to limit my browsing to only the styles I liked. I will note that (at least on the day I visited) they very heavily feature artists whose style is natural and rustic, which isn't bad, but for the prices they charge I was looking for something more sophisticated. I know all pottery takes a lot of work, but I'm not going to spend $80 on a misshapen mug. The items do focus pretty heavily on dishes and cups/mugs, which made gift shopping a little difficult, since I wasn't about to buy a surprise dinnerware set for someone. The person manning the front desk was very helpful and brought out more pieces from the back room of artists I liked. She was also able to share with me which pieces were and were not dishwasher safe. I left with a good selection of gifts and would definitely come back again.

On Sunday, we had to drive several hours (~3) round trip to babysit our son so we could attend the…read moreblacksmithing class. We arrived about 10 minutes early, but there was nobody at the shop. We knocked on the door, tried calling, and walked around the building to see if there was someone there. After 25 minutes, we finally decided to leave. We later received an automated email explaining that their "auto-reminders did not go out to you and to our instructor as they were supposed to." At the bottom of the email, it gave me the option to unsubscribe from their emails. For a class that costs nearly $90 per person, I would expect a higher degree of professionalism. All of the class attendees were responsible enough to show up, without auto-reminders. There is no excuse for the instructor forgetting! The refund they issued did not cover the cost or inconvenience of babysitting services. Their automated email that I could unsubscribe was unprofessional and felt like they were making excuses. The customer service was awful and I would never recommend that anyone goes there.

Philosophically arts education is beyond just learning how to paint or draw etc. It is primarily about how to think creatively which nets life long benefits. The classroom was pure art class where you could see evidence of years of creativity in the tables. Overall I highly recommend checking Articulture out. They do programming for adults, kids, camps, groups etc.

I've been fortunate to participate in two classes held at Breitenbush Hot Springs in Oregon. I came away from both with a renewed sense of creative possibilities not just through photography, but in my life in general. Doug's classes helped inspire me to make the (very scary) jump from corporate advertising to food styling and teaching graphic design. The classes are low key, casual and fun with class participation encouraged. Doug brings a wonderful spirit of love and kindness to each workshop. They are well worth the reasonable tuition.

Classes start with a hand out being given and an overview of what to expect. They put you at ease and help troubleshoot issues. I gain more confidence in this craft every time I come here and am more excited and enthusiastic about continuing. Wow. I am one lucky girl…read more I've been trying to find a creative endeavor that I enjoy and am half-way decent at (throwing ceramics wasn't it). I've done a bunch of welding and metal work, mostly on a larger scale, but I recall taking a jewelry metal smithing class back in college or high school -- not sure, it all kind of blends together now. But I liked it, and I like the idea that I can make something that I not only enjoy myself, but possibly sell at some point. Anyway, being new-ish in town, I asked around at some jewelry events where I would be able to take classes and everyone I spoke to recommended Quench. I signed up for the Bezel class to get reacquainted with the tools, and was especially excited that we would leave with a piece of jewelry we made! The teacher, Sarah, was fantastic. She demonstrated everything meticulously & expertly, emphasized safety, gave us little tricks to correct mistakes, and was all around just great -- very encouraging & supportive too. The students were too -- really varied, but everyone was supportive and sharing. A great group of ladies. There was a daughter and her mom there, friends together, people just there because they wanted to improve their skills -- women of all ages. I thought the instructor was just a really great teacher and thought that Quench was so fortunate to have someone so good on their teaching team. And the whole studio seems so well-thought out from the layout to the classes and open studios -- I thought it was maybe a large operation that several people had invested their time and money in. After asking some questions, I learned that, Sarah, my humble instructor is THE sole founder of Quench. I am impressed. I've heard the other instructors are good too, but I feel really fortunate that I got to learn from the woman who started the studio and is really a hub for the jewelry arts in the Twin Cities. He took classes in 2D game design and 3D game design with Minecraft. I felt the instructors and venue were above par and the overall price a good value for the what he learned. Definitely a must for your gamer.
