I flew in for my relative's 101st birthday. Since she is in a care center I decided on the cake pops, thinking they would be easier for the residents. That worked out well. Except for one gentleman, everyone enjoyed them. A few people even asked for seconds. My one change would be to not have sprinkles put on them. The sprinkles got on their clothing (I sure hope the pink and purple sprinkles washed out of the white sweater one lady wore) and all over the floor. When the workers saw Minooka they brightened up. The cookies were great, the apple turnover was fantastic, the strawberry pastry was wonderful, the raspberry creamy puff thingy was great, and the eclair was a little stale but the cream inside was good! This family-owned business has a nice selection of freshly baked goods, such as cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and macarons. They also have a nice freezer filled with gluten-free specialties. My family enjoyed the baked treats and would stop in if we were in the area, but would not make a special trip for them. The bakery sold some Italian specialties, such as ricotta and anise cookies, but we found them to be lacking authentic flavors and tasted more like a simple and plain box mix. Authentic Italian treats usually use a lot of fresh, natural ingredients and we found these to taste a bit artificial with a lot of sugar in the colored icings, which smothered the flavors. read more

I stopped in to grab a carrot cake and apple turnovers. The cake tasted great and wasn't dry. Apple turnovers had a great tasting filling. I like flakier turnovers but theirs were baked well. I got my wedding cake for my micromony from Minooka's and it was perfect! We got a cheesecake for 12 people and it was decorated to match our inspiration photo. Not only was the cheesecake absolutely delicious, but Minooka's was such a pleasure to work with! I ordered the cake just a few weeks before the wedding and Minooka's even delivered the cake to the restaurant after our ceremony. That was huge for me because we had so much going on that day; it would have been extra stress to go pick it up. I am not from the area (my husband is) and I called many local pastry and cake shops that either wouldn't deliver such a small wedding cake or didn't make cheesecakes. I am so glad I found Minooka's! Look no further, this place is the best. Their cakes are lovingly created, beautiful, and delicious. I just had a yummy, light and airy vanilla wedding cake last night, nothing short of perfect. We got our wedding cake here in October 2020 and it was an amazing experience. We are both new to the Scranton area, so we went to a few different bakeries in the city, and the choice was obvious because we were in love with Minooka Pastry Shop. The cake samples, and our actual cake on our wedding day, was delicious. The icing was delicious. Everything was flavorful, without being too sweet, everything was so light and fluffy. Minooka did our wedding cake/cupcakes. Everything was exactly how we wanted. We chose 4 different flavors. We tried them all during our tasting, and they were delicious! A lot of our guests complimented them. The cupcake tower looked awesome. On top was our little cake to cut. Minooka put red stitching on it to make it look like a baseball, just like we asked since we did a baseball themed wedding. It turned out perfect. Prior to the wedding, we gave Minooka our cake topper, Yankees/Red Sox cupcake liners, and a flavor sign that I made. Everything was right where it was supposed to be at our wedding. My family experienced the worst customer service today on an Easter weekend to boot. My 77 year old mother stopped by to pick up a pastry tray that was already paid for. The cashier informed her there was a $1.35 balance. She didn't have any money on her and advised the clerk that she would have to go home to get the $1.35...which was overcharged! The cashier said "ok we'll put this aside for you then". A half hour later, my mother returned with the $1.35 and paid the overcharge. When she got home, the platter was short by 2 pastries!!! In the process of this unbelievably poor judgement on behalf of Minooka Pastry Shop, my mother, whom is friendly with many people locally, ran into a few prominent customers of the shop while there. They were abhorred by what happened! I am posting this because me, along with many of my family, have patronized this shop for many years. Every one of our family members and friends have found this incident today to be unacceptable. We will no longer be patronizing this business. read more

Their cakes are a bit dry, the icing is not the greatest, and their breads seem previously frozen. The products here are not bad, but they are not what they used to be. Ordered a birthday cake for my mom this weekend - delicious! Wish there was a little bit more of the raspberry mousse filling but otherwise can't complain! The chocolate cake was moist, delicious and the buttercream frosting was out of the park fantastic. Overall presentation/ decoration of the cake was beautiful. My mom (and the rest of us) loved it! Loved this place and anytime I was going home my family would beg for me to bring them goodies. They have a great selection but you need to go early to get the best! My number one favorite was the cheese Danish, there is no other like it. Their cheese is not as sweet as most but so good. All of their Danish flavors are good, blueberry, raspberry, apple, cheese and cherry. The also have doughnuts and paczki's at special times of the year with great fillings. I went here on Christmas Eve to pick up a pie and some pastries for family. I had heard wonderful things about their pies and cookies, so I was looking forward to some tasty confections. For the past 2 years, I've been living in California so since I can't be home to celebrate my families birthdays, special occasions, or special occasions, I always order and have the bakery deliver cakes to my family. This past Friday was the second time that I placed an order over the phone and had the wrong cake delivered. When my dad sent the picture of the cake he received, I was embarrassed and perturbed. I called the bakery and the owner did not listen to me, the customer, and how upset I was. I live 3000 miles away and I was hoping that the bakery would be a part of helping me create a special moment for my dad on his birthday. My sister and mom had to go in to the bakery with the cake and had to explain to Tina, the FOH employee, what happened. She was great and exchanged the cake for us but not once did the owner come out to apologize. I am thoroughly upset with the customer service I have received and am sad to say, I will no longer be ordering my cakes from the bakery. read more
