I can't remember) was very kind and respectful to my jewelry; they showed me how they were handling it on a TV screen. When it came time to pick up my jewelry, he told me he found an extra crack and he would repair it at no extra charge. He even sent me annotated images of where the crack was. I have done business with Minor Jewelry for over 20 years. I am not there a lot but sometimes I make purchases and mostly get repairs on jewelry. They don't really know me on a first name basis but they do remember me when I come in. When I get things done I do not cut corners or balk on any prices that have ever been quoted to me. Today I took a 1920's platinum ring in with the main stones removed and was looking for something to replace them and then go over the ring and check what else might need to be done. The salesperson (who I have never seen there before) was the most rude, arrogant person. He acted as though he couldn't be bothered helping me and was very dismissive the whole time. I told him (very nicely) it looks like this might be too much trouble and he said yeah it's too much trouble. At that point I became very upset and spoke my mind (not nicely) and no one in charge asked to see what the problem was. If people don't want your business that is absolutely fine but it seems like there is a nicer way to say it. read more

I found them on AOL City Search, and even though I was a bit weary of their older website, I still gave them a try. In the heart of the 12 south district, this place has been here a while. They've probably fixed your grandmas watch. My boyfriends watch band was completely busted and in a million pieces. One of the customer service reps said it would just take a few minutes. I browsed around and before you knew it, it was fixed, cleaned up and looked like new! I thought I'd have to leave it for repair for a few days, but they have folks working on the spot! It was very affordable, much cheaper than a new watch band. They have plenty of parking in the back. They have a variety of watch bands, and some used but nice jewelry. I think that repair is their area of expertise because they have two large working areas with all sorts of tools, drawers, gizmos, and gadgets. I haven't not gotten jewelry fixed there but I am sure this is something these pro's can do. The staff was super friendly. I highly recommend this locally owned family business. read more

I brought my 10-year-old Rolex here for its first service. They were super friendly, explained to me what possible quotes might be before opening it up, and had solid email and text communications re: quote and pickup. They also removed a link past the normally removable links, which King's Jewelers (a Rolex dealer nearby) had refused to do. Minor thought they were God's gift to humanity seven years ago before 12 South was as popular as it is now. I was a fool to think their attitude had improved in that time. I was quoted $40 across town to resize my ring- sterling silver, not gold. They quoted me $150. There's always been a nice lady at the counter, but the dude who owns it...he's insanely rude. When the woman was on vacation years ago, he looked at my watch, saying he couldn't fix low-grade leather and though they buy jewelry, he dismissed my silver amethyst bracelet as "costume jewelry." They think they're better than everyone else, so they charge more than everyone else and don't provide good customer service. When I told them about the discrepancy in quoted price, they did nothing to barter or meet in the middle. They KNOW I'm going elsewhere and why and they did nothing to change that, which means I don't matter to them as a customer. Independent stores can do that, Macy's can't, but they can and chose not to. The only explanation: "Well, he has to break it apart and everything." I KNOW THAT!!! I've taken several of my jewelry pieces to Minor Jewelry to have them altered or repaired. They work with all kinds of metals which many high end jewelry stores do not. They have adjusted a necklace of mine, adding an extra loop on the back so I can adjust the length and they've also welded the closure of my hoop earrings to make them secure. They even added an extra piece to secure the closure of my earrings at no extra cost. I've been a long time customer of Minor Jewelry. I purchased a Woman's Rolex watch (2007-with diamonds on the dial, smaller face) less than a year ago and paid $4,000. After 8 months, I decided On larger face (Man's Size). I went to Minor Jewelry 7/10 and spoke with the owner. I found a watch (2003- no diamonds,largest face) and wanted to trade my watch. The owner informed me that to trade in my watch 4 years older with no diamonds, that I'd have to pay $1,000 to trade. My questions and concerns to Jessee were: I bought my watch less than 1 year ago at $4,000, 2007 with diamonds. My trade was for a watch 4 years older 2003, $4,000 with no diamonds, so why pay $1000 more? Adding diamonds would cost $1,300 or more, resulting to $2400 for less watch. I quickly declined. I will never step foot in the business again as they don't appreciate a long standing, loyal customer. read more
