It's also the stop for Museum of Illusions and Jinya Ramen Bar.

The station is very accessible by road, as opposed to some of the ones closer to the city. The platform does have some covered waiting area and a full parking deck that contains a few hundred parking spaces. It is an island platform so the doors on the train will open on the left. There are audible and visual announcements of the next train in both directions. Automated ticket vending machines exist. Note that the Lynx system requires that you have a ticket in your possession - ticket inspectors do patrol the trains randomly and they do not accept "Oops." The station is pretty well lit. It is a block from the wonderful Midnight Diner (reviewed separately) and the Morehead Street Tavern. Looking south, you can see the train coming from as far away as Bland Street Station but from the north, there is a curve where it crosses the highway. There are automated announcements that let you know a train is a few minutes away. There are ticket vending machines on each platform. Note that you must purchase your ticket before boarding the train. The LYNX line does have fare inspectors and they're serious about it.

The Carson Lynx Station is the "last" stop on the line before the lynx crosses over I-277 and into Uptown. It is also good to note that the trail still continues on under Moorehead, but then diverts you over to Moorehead/College St if you are trying to walk in. No pedestrian traffic allowed on the light rail bridge over 277. A lot of folks get on the train at the other end of the line in Pineville, so by the time the train reaches Carson, it's pretty packed (depending on the time of day... I'm talking rush hour when it is pretty packed). No men employed to squeeze people in the trains yet (like Japan), but if you value your personal space, I would either try to get an earlier train, or just avoid the rush hour altogether. Other than that... pretty standard light rail station. No park and ride here.... but lots of residential places nearby and you've got TWC News 14 building behind the station off of South Blvd and the Midnight Diner about a block away.

The Color Forest Southend Rail Trail is great! Whether you like various types of exercise such as…read moreto walk/jog, bike, etc., the Rail Trail is a great place to do it in Charlotte! The trail runs for a good distance from the North side of Uptown, through Uptown. It's ends close to Clanton Road before getting to the QuickTrip on South Blvd. On the trail, you'll find a ton of people walking, jogging, bicycling or exercising. This could be early mornings, midday, afternoon or evening. It's a great space in Charlotte.

An excellent station on the new northern extension of Charlotte's Blue Line light rail that as of…read moremid-March now extends from University City at the north end and I-485 at the south end. This clean and modern station is quite large and features a decent covered waiting area on the platform where there are automated ticket vending machines and overhead announcements (both visual and audible) of the next train in either direction. There are two platforms with the two tracks between them. This is a surface station and easily handicap accessible. A big plus here is the very large five story parking deck (800 spaces!) that is connected to the station with a pedestrian bridge and stairs/elevator. At the moment, parking is free though you need a ticket in order to exit the deck on weekdays between 3pm and 6pm. There is a great stop for a number of CATS buses on the opposite side of the parking deck. Very close to the station is the Shoppes at University Place shopping center and a number of apartment/condo buildings. The station is between UNC Charlotte (the northern terminus) and McCullogh to the south.

That's pretty cool. This was close to our hotel so we used this to hop on and hop off the light rail. When getting on the train at this station one time, there were agents from transit checking to make sure tickets were activated.

This station is located between ImaginOn and The 7th Street Market. It is a very convenient station to get on and off of. You are right at the street level and there is no elevators or stairs. Not sure but I think there are only kiosks to buy tickets on one side of the station since the train didn't originally go past this point. There's a machine to purchase single rides, round trips or long term passes. It's very quiet and tucked away on its own little road that seemed to be made just for it. There's a park and ride lot which seems to have space for about 200 cars. On a weekend day it's pretty empty. Lots of cameras around for vehicle security. There's a raised pedestrian bridge leading from South Blvd. over the freight train tracks that run parallel to the line. However to cross to the light rail platform, you still gotta look both ways! Tickets are $2.20 per single ride as of this writing. There are unlimited rides passes for week and month long periods. The train stops once every roughly 30 minutes. I hope they will be more frequent as more people start to use it. As this is the second to the last stop on the south bound side, it's pretty quiet and easy enough to get a seat or find a spot to hang your bike.

All are within a one block walk. There are both an elevator and stairs for reaching the Blue Line platform. For the Gold Line, CTC/Arena Station is an island platform in the middle of Trade Street so doors will open on the left. There are no signs indicating the time until the next train and there are no audible announcements. This is an... interesting... part of the city. It's a very large station and considered the "hub" of the light rail system. Below you can see the terminus of the CityLYNX street car which is FREE to ride. The blue line does require a ticket either physically or through the CATSPass App (which I highly recommend, Android or iPhone). The tracks on the Epicentre side go South towards Pineville, while the other side goes all the way to the UNCC-Main Campus. During peak times, trains show up nearly every 7 minutes, while slower points in the day the trains are spaced out every 15 minutes. The CATS bus terminal is right below the platform that has routes to every end of the city. While there are no public restrooms on the platform, there are some at the bus station. Just keep in mind.. yeah, it's a bus station. They try their best to keep the restrooms in order, but someone always needs to prove how nasty they are by... well you know what, you can fill in the blanks! Keep an eye out for funny individuals. While I've seen security or LYNX officials nearly every time I've been here, there's still the occasional solicitor of change that can be a bit too aggressive, or argument turned destructive. Maintain that personal bubble, my dudes! Efficient and cost effective way to get around, go out and explore the rails!
