Really big and cool vintage selection and really awesome vibe. Service is good but a little pricey.

I have been coming to Mintage for years, but the Commercial Dr. store is the WORST. Stained, ripped clothes with no "as is" for $85. Another stained dress was over $300. At that point I was done. It's one thing to have clothes with seams that need sewing, but stains are a deal breaker and gross. It's just garbage at that point. Also, the clothes are so cliche. Little Miss Vintage is the best option on the Drive. Not this. read more

Another fun vintage store in Vancouver with a good mixture of new and vintage items for men and women, plus accessories and decor. Mintage is a fairly large store, with what looked like a small separate jewelry shop just inside the door that's kind of set off from the main space. Women's clothing is more toward the front of the store and men's stuff is at the back, and there's another jewelry display in the center of the floor that has more jewelry, collectibles, and crystals. They had a great selection of women's vintage coats, especially if you're looking for heavier fur and wool pieces. They had a bargain $10/$20 dress rack in the back, too. There's also a nice display of vintage wedding gowns in the back corner, although I'd be afraid to touch them! Having new accessories on hand is helpful in putting an outfit together -- if you see a pretty dress, you can also grab a petticoat in every color of the rainbow or a bandana to tie up your hair. Their selection of men's clothing was better than average, and they had some really fun (and heavy) novelty sweaters and coats. They seem to have a sewing and repair shop in the back where people were working, so have a peek at the olde-tyme sewing machines and supplies on the work table while you're shopping. The jewelry mostly seemed to be new rather than vintage, but they had cute styles and lots of nature and taxidermy-inspired designs (animal skulls and such). There was a tray of fun animal-shaped and geometric rings for $20 that were all really cute. By contrast, the jewelry in the area off to the side at the front of the store looks more like larger custom pieces with gemstones and minerals, and priced accordingly, but also very pretty and well-made. We didn't find anything to buy, but it was fun to look around, and the artwork and taxidermy on the walls are worth checking out, too. A good stop if you're shopping on Commercial! read more

Where have I been??? This place is awesome I loved everything in the store, the new, the used, the old and the shiny!!! If you are looking for a used T shirt (gently worn) or a new silk dress for the woman you think would look great in....the hipster backpack or a piece of unique jewellery ...stop in! I've gone by this place 100 times and never stopped in. Made me realize I need to stop and smell the roses in the garden and stop racing to the common carnations! read more

BEST. HALLOWEEN. DISPLAY. EVER. I live on the Drive and I walk past the store every day (sometimes I go in but rarely have I bought anything)... Anyway, the best thing is this time of year when they try to give a little shock value to the streets. Their display window this year started off with a dummy laying in a bed with white sheets reading a book and then a week later the dummy was gone and the ENTIRE display was drenched in blood. People hate it, people love it, people are trying to cover it up. It's amazing and so gruesome. I love gore and I can't wait to walk past it again today on my way home. read more

Best selection of vintage clothing in the lower mainland! Friendly/helpful staff, and they do alterations in the shop. Their pricing is decent, lots of pieces marked down throughout the store. They have a killer $10/$20 dress rack thats usually bursting with good finds and a $5 t shirt rack as well. 10/10 would recommend this shop to any vintage lover paying a visit to Vancouver! read more

Now this is a place with character and nostalgia, no surprise here. kinda what makes commercial drive. Have all kinds of vintage clothing, accessories, shoes, etc. but couldn't find my Atari t-shirts lol. Suprised it was that busy on a weekday after lunch, with about a dozen other shoppers but only 2 sales ppl. Better be a good parallel parker here, these are tight lanes folks. read more

My relationship with vintage clothing is very volatile. There are times when I can't get enough of it... the hunt, having to scavenge around for that one unique piece that will truly set your wardrobe apart from all others, that isn't branded and tainted with any obvious logos, the thrill of picking up that one-of-a-kind piece and having it fit perfectly! Conversely, the stench emanating from the stores, the racks and piles and rows of clothing, thrown helter skelter in a cacophonic mess of colour. Mintage, however, always has a way of warming my heart. With tutus in every colour imaginable dangling overhead, it's hard not to be charmed by Mintage. read more

Oh hey Mintage! You're amazing! You were my favourite business on Commercial Drive when I lived in Vancouver. Also you were right up there with my top bushiness in the whole of the City. I still have so many prized items from your store, a faux fur hat that I used to rock on the slopes at Grouse. A lighting bolt ring that enables me to channel David Bowie when I wear it. I think it's also great you had a good selection men's vintage clothes too. So often vintage stores just focus on the ladies, and then the dudes get bored and want to go home, and cut the ladies shopping trips short. So thanks Mintage you're the best! read more

Well, this store has gotten a lot more publicity than it anticipated, I bet, after that gory Halloween display. I, myself, only read about it on the front page of the 24 Hours. Saturday before Halloween, though, their display was taken down and there was a large apology note about it instead. That's really too bad. Times have changed, because I am sure years ago, that kind of a display would have been acceptable. But anyway, on to the store. The store itself is friggin' cool! I am so coming here for Halloween next year. They have all sorts of cool vintage dresses, some of them way the hell out there. Their prices range from super reasonable to a bit pricey for it being used but there are quite a few in the super reasonable price range and the ones that are pricier were sometimes reworked or have some quality detail to them. read more

This is a fun store! They have new stuff along with some second hand good quality stuff. Everything in the store looks authenticly vintage and mix and matchable - which is fantastic for all you aspiring stylists/designers! I really like their selection of hats and jewelry!! I love Vintage clothing, however, their selection seems to be a little less to be desired for given the prices. I get that it is the location. The real turn off for me wasn't so much the clothing as it was the staff. Even when I tried to be friendly, they seemed to have something up their ass. Nobody smiles and is helpful. This an absolutely adorable store! With great un-worn vintage pieces, great shoes, and tonnes of jewelry this could be a perfect place to wander in for hours! Prices are a little high on somethings, but on the other hand I bought a gorgeous never-been-worn, original tags still on (!!!!) skirt for only $35! A steal! Go in, check it out, wander and enjoy! This store has the greatest selection of both new and vintage - I've been to Vancouver only a couple times, and have been checked this store out based on a friend's recommendation. On my last visit, I scored the perfect pair of black leather boots, and a few of their new accessories. Not overpriced, and so many choices of very "wearable" vintage choices for someone who likes to keep it mixed up with modern and vintage. Only wish this store was open in LA! read more

Though it's not my favourite vintage store, this is a very funky and fun shop to lose yourself in for a little while. You're likely to find everything from floppy hats to cowboy boots here with lots in between. It's a bit hit and miss as to whether or not you'll find your heart's desire at Mintage, but you will certainly find a unique mix of old and new items that you definitely won't see anywhere else. read more

Experience while we were there it was quite great. The guy seemed to be quite knowledgeable and he was helpful. Unfortunately for some of the items they are charging more than what you would get in the store brand-new.and it has nothing to do with the age or the vintage as what I bought was probably something from the 80s. Thankfully we receive 20% off. we were buying the outfits for New Year's Eve which is in a couple of days..when we got home we tried the outfits on again just to see what they look like with our other accessories. my husbands Vest had a gouge in it which was not noticeable when trying it on at the store..however when excepting the merchandise the staff must of seen it. And when I went to unzip my dress not only did the zipper break the zipper clasp also split in half so had I been at my New Year's party which is three hours away and this had happened my outfit would've been ruined and I would've had nothing to wear. Had the dress been half the price I paid for it I wouldn't be this upset however now I either have to go find another dress or spend another 20+ dollars to get the zipper repaired! And since all sales are final $50 out of the $90 spent there is basically being thrown out the window. read more

I have spent time visiting vintage shops in Washington DC, Seattle, San Francisco, Southern California, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, but this vintage shop is the best I've seen in terms of quality AND price so far! It didn't hurt that I happened to luck out and walk into the store on the final day of a sale where ALL the boots were $20. I got an $87 pair of boots for $20! I came in just expecting to browse and walked out with five pairs of boots-- including two pairs of cowboy boots. Seeing as I'm from Texas, aka the "Alberta of the United States", that speaks volumes. I've even hit up flea markets in my home state and haven't found anything tthis reasonably priced cheap OR trendy. Plus, the people waiting on me were very kind and helpful. There was a gentleman there with a great since of style who waited on me hand and foot and really tried to help me find something that would make me happy. As a Southerner, hospitality of any sort is always greatly appreciated. This place is a gem! read more
