I had traveled to New London for a long weekend to attend a friend's memorial service and after my arrival on Thursday I realized I had forgotten the charger for my Phonak hearing aids. It was going to be a tough weekend. I decided to make some calls and see if I could find help and to make a long story short, I was lucky enough to call Thames and speak to Krista. After checking with audiologist Jean P. Tuneski, she told me they would loan me a charger. They never mentioned a fee or security deposit, just offered to loan me the charger. This is above and beyond and saved the day for me! If I lived in the area they would be my go to hearing services. Customer satisfaction counts! Thank you Krista and Jean!

Due to a parent with extreme allergies, her oral surgeon felt it was necessary to test prior to the extraction. The doctor refused to perform any allergy testing citing false negatives and that the preservatives were the major concerns with allergic reactions. All valid reasons but as an 18 year old girl who is learning to navigate her own medical appointments, it was confusing. She was following the orders of her oral surgeon and being met with resistance from the allergist. When my daughter became understandably upset and confused, he dismissed her concerns and told her she had an "undiagnosed anxiety disorder." This was condescending, dismissive, and completely out of line. A doctor should never weaponize mental health language to shut down a patient who they have never seen as a patient and have no background to any medical information. My daughter called me from the parking lot, very upset that she was labeled like that. I spoke with the office and expressed my frustration with how she was treated and what would potentially be documented in her medical record. I advised that he omit his documentation of an "undiagnosed anxiety disorder" as this was not what her appointment was to address. The office quickly called my daughter back and asked if it was ok to rewrite the letter that she had received. My daughter said yes of course because she was upset that he had put something like that in her record. When she received the new letter, it stated that she had procedural anxiety. Most people have this but this was another passive aggressive way to keep the anxiety documentation in her record. Before closing this review, I will tell you that I DO NOT have them confused with any other practice (this is the typical response to a bad review in the reviews). I strongly advise others to look elsewhere!

I've been seeing Dr. Daniel Waggoner for several years for seasonal allergies. Last year, he also…read morediagnosed me for LPR and prescribed Prilosec, but you can only take it for two weeks at a time. In my opinion, he does not have a great bedside manner and lacks empathy for his patients. He comes off as self-important and smug during visits, which always feel rushed. Last Fall, I decided to start allergy shots, which is a huge commitment of time (two office visits per week for several months). After the first shot, I almost fainted. Dr. Waggoner said I had an involuntary vasovagal reaction and it may or may not happen each time I get a shot. I let him know I could not continue, never knowing if I'd be able to drive myself home. He did not even return my call after this episode, a nurse did and told me he was transferring responsibility for the Prilosec to my primary care physician. Yet still, I returned for my annual checkup a couple of weeks ago. It happened to coincide with recovering from a respiratory virus and I was wheezing. I also had a throbbing ear ache and when he looked in my right ear, he said I had a "foreign body" in there. He asked me if I used Q-tips, laughed, and mocked me. I said yes, I use them to clean the outside of my ear. He told me I would need to make an ENT appt. to have it removed. Two days later, I went to see my primary care and they flushed my right ear. They easily removed a bit of ear wax smaller than the size of a popcorn kernel. I called the office and asked if I could switch to a different doctor in their practice, but was told no, "it's against their policy." This is terrible customer service and this policy does not serve patients well. I was told I could leave a message for the Office Manager and they'd call me back. It's been over a week and no return call. I will not be going to this practice in the future. They treat you like a number and try to steer everyone towards allergy shots.

It is tragic that health insurance companies require physical therapy before allowing a MRI. Such backwards thinking if of no assistance to the patient and indeed allows there to be an exacerbation of the problem promoting further discomfort.
