First off, I always call this place Mirage. I think the name of it at night is Mirage and during the day it's Cairo Cafe. This place makes you feel like you are in a different city other than Knoxville. It was truly a cool experience with hookah smoking, belly dancers, and a front room filled with cushions where you sit on. I tried several of the appetizers however my favorite was the feta dip. It was wonderful. The hummus, baba ganoush, and the stuffed grape leaves were also quite good. I also tried the Kofta Kabob (ground beef). It was fantastic. The lamb chops are also a great choice! The service was lacking majorly. We only saw our server every 20 minutes or so. We would order a bottle of wine and they would be out and it would take her a while to get back to us on that. Overall I thought it was a unique experience unlike any other you will find in Knoxville. It will also make you feel like you are out of Knoxville which can be a great feeling! Try it out!

Nice chill hang out spot. The small square charcoals made the hookah last a good time frame. The music was on point with the decor. Mackenzie was a great, nice and helpful waiter. I'll be coming back again.

We had a large group visit The Mirage to support a local dance group. VIP status. However, our table was never assigned a server. After an hour of sitting there we had to beg a server to help us. Then it took another hour+ to receive our food. I understand times are tough, that's not even the main problem we had. Infrequently, we would feel drips splashing on the table and on us. Then it started to come down more heavily. We collected a sample of what was dripping The response we got from staff sounded like it is a frequent problem. They did nothing for us! Who knows how long that was dripping in our food and drinks!! Management was no help. Mirage, you just lost a ton of customers and probably others from this review.

I dont know how this place is even open. I called to make an order and he is hard to understand but…read morewas telling him what I wanted. He said to come in and order, so I did. He had told me over the phone when I come in it would take 2-5 minutes to prepare the food. I went in and he was folding silverware in napkins. He kept doing that as I stood there. I Starting to get annoyed because there's literally nobody in there and he's just standing there and I said can I go ahead and order. I said ok can I order this..... so he has no desserts, no coffee, majority of the Appetizers he doesn't have. I asked about ordering Turkish coffee, he had no coffee. I asked about the baklava or konafa, nope doesn't have that either. I said ok what about the sampler platter with the whipped feta, and cucumber salad... another nope. I asked if he knows when he will have all these items and what he does have if half the menu he doesn't even have. He said, "Oh maybe tomorrow, maybe next week." Dude it's your business if you're not gonna have things on the menu then you need to take them off the menu. There's no way in hell my food would've been ready in 2 to 5 minutes like he said on the phone if he takes 2 to 5 minutes just to stop what he's doing and address the customer because there's the one who's gonna pay your paycheck not the silverware. He said something about he had authentic Egyptian food and for some reason pointed to the water leak stain on the ceiling. I thought that was kind of weird that someone would point that out unless I thought he was pointing it out I don't know. I said ok I will try coming back another time then. He kept talking but I wont waste my time coming back to a place that doesn't have whats on their menu.

This place! Stop at Moe's for authentic Mediterranean food! It's really good healthy way to go.read more

Not only was the restaurant service great but the Owner / Chef AVI came to our table where 6 of us were seated for Dinner and spent time talking to us. When I told him we would love family style and some Vegeterian choices since 3 of our group were vegetarians so we will let you decide what to serve. First came the Vegeterian food - all very good but the Tomato Salad , Falafel and Shakshuka were outstanding which is an understatement. We are not big eaters but AVI insisted we try his selections and HE WAS PERSONALLY COOKING FOR US ! The next was Chicken Kebob platter really unbelievably tasty and we told them to stop since we were full but Avi's hospitality knew no bounds. The Fish ( Cod) melted in your mouth as did the LAMB CHOPS - I love eating out but have not experienced Mediterrean cuisine that good. Go try this place and you will truly enjoy the food. Thank you AVI ZENATTI

A couple years ago we had KoPita on a food tour and really enjoyed it, so we decided to make a…read morereservation for Valentine's Day. When we made a reservation on the website there was no mention of a pre fixe menu. Not on the website, and not with the reservation. We went intending to get light appetizers, but when we arrived we were told that the only option was a 55 dollar per person menu. While we were annoyed by the bait and switch we decided to stay because there was no chance of getting a table anywhere else. I'll start by saying that I Know that Valentine's Day is historically very busy, but over half the tables in the restaurant were empty, and I've been in significantly busier environments where I still received a high level of service. In this instance, saying that we were dismissed by the staff was an understatement. My wife was sat while I was parking, and when I joined her I wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. We asked one question the server who was dropping off the food snapped at us and acted extremely irritated that we even addressed her while she dropped the food off. We asked for tea because we knew that was one of their specialties. The response that was snapped back was "no tea tonight, if you want drinks go pay at the bar, it's separate." The table beside us seemed to clearly be VIPs as the were in fact served several pots of tea. All in all the staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience and they didn't want us to be in the restaurant. The exception was a very nice server wearing a light colored dress, she was very kind, which only made everyone else's disdain all the more evident by contrast. The food itself was just ok. Course 1: salads, it had fruit and fresh vegetables. It was excellent. Course 2: zucchini and eggplant with beef. It was well cooked but the sauce was extremely bland. Course 3: chicken stuffed with liver. This was gross, not even edible. Course 4: leg of lamb with rice. Once again the meat was well prepared, but it here was almost no seasoning. The rice that came with it was undercooked and kinda tough. Course 5: It was listed as braised beef brisket, but it was just an unseasoned pot roast. I expected Mediterranean food to be presented with a significantly more interesting range of flavor profiles. Course 6: Baklava, really great! The layers were crisp and the flavor was smooth. All that to say, it wasn't anywhere near worth the cost, I went for a light dinner and only had the option of buying a heavy 6 course menu. Other tables were given service and we were treated as an annoyance. The location was very convenient, so they have that going for them... which is nice.

My…read morehusband and I shared the Rom's Fast Fix-A-Quick Delicious Small Bite with marinated beef, and it was fantastic. The beef was juicy and tender, practically melting in your mouth with every bite. The seasoning was spot on--flavorful without overpowering the natural richness of the meat. It paired perfectly with the rice, which was light and fluffy, creating a great balance of textures and flavors. The only thing that could have elevated the dish even more would be a little extra sauce to mix into the rice. That would have brought the whole dish together, but even without it, the flavor was still on point. Overall, it's a great spot for a delicious HALAL option, and I'll definitely be back to try more next time we drive through Knoxville. Food- 5/5 Service- 5/5 Ambiance- 5/5

There was only one guy working at the stall when we ordered our food so it understandably took a little longer to get our food but it was totally worth it. We ordered Rom's Bowl - which is chicken, beef, and veggies over rice. Then the bread is baked over the bowl essentially creating an edible lid. It was served with a side salad with a lovely salad dressing. I think it had sumac in it but don't quote me on that!Although this was my first time eating Afghan food, the food felt familiar to me. The rice dish was similar to biryani (but not spicy) and the bread was a cross between a pita and naan. I can't wait to go back!
