I've been to Stockholm 4 years in a row now and have never experienced discrimination until I…read morearrived at this hotel. I came in with my non-Asian coworker and he was helped at the desk while I waited right behind him. There were 3 employees at the front desk. An Italian family came up after me and they were waved over to be helped. I thought maybe the staff just didn't see me but then it happened again. Another European lady walks up and is waved over to be helped. I stepped up and asked why everyone is cutting me off in line and that's when the front desk said "oh sorry about that." After 18 hours of travel, this was a horrible way to start the week. I had a few coworkers staying at the hobo across the street and everytime I walked in to meet up with them, I was greeted by staff. I stayed there last year as well and didn't experience anything discriminatory. I assumed the Downtown Camper would be better since they have a few more amenities in the room such an iron and kettle but this was not worth it. Being treated like you are invisible ruins the entire experience. On top of that, it makes me look at Sweden in a different light. Right outside the hotel there was a group of men that proceeded to yell things like "ni hao Ching Chang Chong!" I expected more from a place/staff that is supposed to be hospitable and welcoming. While we cannot control what happens outside of the hotel, it would have been nice to feel safer in your hotel and free from judgement just because we don't look the same.

They have a bar, workout room, spa area, dining area, this cool neat thing you can lounge in, etc. kind of had a fancy hostel feel, except super expensive. Things to watch out for: adding breakfast with your room is not cheap, 48 USD is what we were told. Rooms are super hot and you don't have access to air and aren't able to turn the heat below around 70 Fahrenheit (and it's only fall, not winter), bar staff wasn't very friendly, we didn't ask for cleaning, specifically said we didn't want it, and someone still walked into our room the first day, terrace tables shown in the ads for the hotel are part of the spa and you can't access them if you don't want to pay, should be clear before hand. We had a good stay here, would say the biggest thing was the room heat issue and we'd wake up sweating each night and have trouble getting back to sleep. But hotel has no major issues, would just expect a little bit more in these areas for the price!

The rooms are clean, well-appointed and have comfortable beds. We got a good night's sleep every night of our stay. The breakfast, included in the price, was fantastic. It offered everything one could think of to start your day out right. Our favorite was the Gold Bar with a very charming Irish bartender. Great drinks and atmosphere. The bartender makes you feel right at home. I think anyone would enjoy this lovely hotel and I recommend it without hesitation.

We signed, we put up the credit card for incidentals, we got keys, the tv had my name on it to welcome us and we spent the 1st night in the room with nothing seeming amiss, and upon disclosing our name and room number we were welcomed to the breakfast that next morning. But then that day we got a no-show charge via email and worried housekeeping would pack up our belongings with the room showing as unoccupied in their system, so upon our return from that day's interrupted activities we had to sort it out. They checked us in (again) but this time for realsies and they said the no-show charge was the same as the room charge so our 4-night stay became officially a 3-night stay. I'm still not sure if the rate stayed the same but it all seemed more or less fixed at the time... but now Marriott Bonvoy isn't giving me credit for the room night and the points so I'm still dealing with it weeks later which is crazy because we were there. So annoying. But the hotel really was nice. The room was spacious, the lounge was beautiful with an enormous multistory chandelier and the breakfast really was epic. Lots to see via short walks, meals, destinations and transit access in every direction. Nice place.

Also, even in a suite, had to put my suitcase on the desk, because of the limited space, and the luggage rack they had was also too small for a typical suitcase. The tiny closet was basically useless, and all very cramped. It is a good location, and the main restaurant is stunning. Loved the breakfasts there, especially. Nice enough staff, but I'd call this place just ok.

The best part of the hotel though is the service - everyone is friendly and helpful. I'll point out Cecelia and Abdel as particularly helpful with restaurant recommendations and hotel services. There is a great restaurant, Bonnie's, that serves wonderful breakfasts and dinners. Get the special dessert, the Smashed Piggy Bank, which is appropriate for a hotel that is in a former bank building.

The rooms don't have AC but they provide fans which ended up being just right. It was our anniversary and they made a cute little welcome gift to kick off our celebration! We really didn't have to leave the hotel! The rooms are on the dark side but I thought it was nicely done. The bathroom had heated floors in the room and that was a nice touch. We also loved having a little afternoon espresso in the room too. We didn't get to try the gym nor the sauna... but boy did we enjoyed the breakfast buffet?! I noticed they really are super thoughtful with oat or lactose free milk as a tea/coffee pairing. They also had a section catered to gluten free/vegan clientele. I was surprised to see that. The yogurt was also lactose free, really an Asian person heaven! All the food we've had here were so delicious and I can't stop thinking about the yogurt toppings. The sweetened plum was my favorite, a little chew and lightly sweetened with a hint of cinnamon. The beds were super comfortable for us and the goose down comforter was light but warm. All in all it was a wonderful experience, centrally located and easy to get to places. Connected to a mall too. Close to the central train station. I am already dreaming about coming back for their breakfast buffet.... Drool!
