At first when I went here it seemed great I went in sober so no detox then after my therapist was switched I requested a female for purpose of feeling safe I was talked to like trash by the supervisor Patrick muddon whom told me he watched me cry on camera outside for two hours and listened to me talking with other people and did nothing to see if I was ok, then my male therapist seemed like he was trying to be helpful at first but his true colors showed when I started to cry in a group because I asked him to repeat directions and he was very rude to me in front of everyone and said " I already explained it" then moments later explain a step to another male in the group, a female group member came to hug me and he wrote in his note I was disruptive. Then he knew dam well my insurance had stopped and kept trying for another 24hrs. For no reason. He also set up outside appointments without talking with me. He gave me a completely wrong time and I was a hour early for said appointment. John m was my therapist. There are some totally awesome people there (Ca's, Tiffany Susan Lauren ,therapist Craig, Mitch, Kerry, Carly, Kelly) but because there are some really shitty ones that are just plan evil it was hard to feel safe in their. Also half the time in the Hall you couldn't even hear the speakers! Get a microphone Jezz. It's a shame because the small environment and small group setting could really make an impact on people's life for the better. This place besides a small group of people that work their lacks compassion when people are going through something as hard as they are in there! I also went onto main line health and wrote my complaint not a word. This place could be great if they listened more to the concerns of the patients in their. Literally saved my life. 100/100 from me. Addiction is so hard but this place is here to support you. I've been to many rehabs and this was the last one I needed to go to. Two and a half years clean and sober now and I'm gonna stay this way. Food and staff are nice, too. Meditation was fun. It's sad to see the negative reviews but you have to understand: addiction is a seriously frustrating thing for the addict and their family and friends and everyone involved. It's easier to blame a place like a rehab than it is to blame yourself. Take it with a major grain of salt. In my honest opinion: stop shopping for rehabs and call this special place. Go in with an open mind. Don't force someone in when they're not ready to quit; sadly it doesn't work that way and can backfire. And most of all: good luck! read more

My 20 year old daughter came to Mirmont to begin recovery from alcohol and prescription drugs. She spent 29 days getting intensive therapy- group and individual. She got the tools she needed to begin her journey as a sober person. Mirmont has all the resources to give a great start to sober living- it's just the start- the days, months and years ahead are just as important. Daily support in AA, and/or NA are critical for continued recovery. Families and loved ones Need the same to recover from this disease. I highly recommend Mirmont to anyone looking for recovery. Today my beautiful daughter is sober for 2 years and counting. She works hard everyday to maintain her sobriety. We cherish every day! I'm convinced that this place exists to exploit families in crisis in order to collect insurance money. Our son went through their partial hospital program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP). This place was the only program with immediate openings so we had no real choice. We were given zero information upon enrollment; zero paperwork or information when he was released from PHP and IOP. We tried multiple times to get hold of therapists to discuss progress and a release plan. The therapists and organizers were unresponsive. It's so-called "programs" like this that are contributing to the crisis of teen mental health and substance abuse in this country. If you care about your child's recovery, do not send them to this place. You will feel helpless, exploited, and enraged by the utter irresponsibility of this place. read more

This place doesn't even deserve a review. My child went in for detox. UNFORTUNATELY, he used in the bathroom before being admitted. As I speak to more friends of addicted loved ones, this is not uncommon. I realize there are patients that the facility is responsible for, but the kid wasn't going from room to room giving drugs away like it's Christmas. I received a call from a RUDE snot at 1 A.M.to pick my son up because he was caught using in the bathroom. He's in a detox ....smack him around and put him on lock down. To boot they humiliated his roommate by doing a strip search on him. The way the situation was handled is APPALLING. TO PUSH A SICK ADDICT OUT OF A DETOX CENTER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IS UNETHICAL. I don't recommend a rodent detoxing there. read more

Mirmont was a nightmare. No surprise that people return 3-4 times. That I survived their detox was nothing less than a miracle. The staff is unkind. Their psychiatrist is cruel. I was recently a inpatient at Mirmont that started on 7/3/19, I must say I had reservations on going to a facility period, for I had just relapsed from 23 years of sobriety and thought I just needed to detox and get back to the program I was using. I chose Mirmont because it came highly recommended so off I went. I must say that I was impressed as far as rehabs go, the nursing staff was extremely friendly and caring.They listened to my requests as well as my sob stories while treating me with respect. I say that because there are still a lot of so called professional personnel in this field that treat you as a low life menace to society or are angry or hurt due to having a loved one or having a negative personal experience with the disease that shows in their attitude. As a couple days went by and I was feeling better I had every intention on leaving but a counselor pulled me aside spoke truth with me as I explained why I had my reasons. The gentleman helped me with my outside issues as far as work and proper rights that I had that I was not aware of and God bless him for it. I rolled the dice and invested time in my well being. From this point forward the staff placed me into the proper group that worked on the issues I suffered from,This coupled with having Yoga classes a full equipped Gym and a menu of food that would satisfy any appetite placed at just the right times of the day made my acceptance of their program all the easier as days went by. Before I realized it three weeks had gone by and my stay was ending. In conclusion and in my opinion there were one or two incidents with staff that I felt could have been handled better but as a alcoholic I am aware that the disease sometimes gets the better of me and makes mountains out of mole hills so the escalation of emotions is only just that. I want what I want when I want it.As far as most addicts we hate being told no and hate doing at times what is best for us. I find that If I keep an open mind and take suggestion that things usually work out just fine, NO rehab is perfect and no rehab will get me sober unless I am willing to take action and except my disease. So thank you Mirmont for having taken the time to deal with this closed mind. Your program has cracked the door open to shed some new light on my recovery that I had not realized was so stale and complacent. My program got me drunk after 23 years and I am presently back on path to a healthy sober SERINE life.God bless you all and I will be returning for your alumni meetings when I can so I can stay plugged in and never allow the disease to let me forget who I am. When i first came to mirmont, i was scared, hopeless, desperate and an empty shell of A miserable person. I've attended this Rehab one time prior to that and i simply wasn't ready to accept the help they had to offer. When i came back, the staff in admissions was extremely helpful with getting me settled in not to mention very compassionate and sympathetic to the struggling addict on the other end of the phone. The program itself was intense, you have groups all day which in the beginning i will be honest, i wasn't thrilled about and was extremely discouraged just looking at the schedule on paper. During your detox, the nursing staff was amazing. They were nothing but caring and tended to my needs during what is obviously very uncomfortable time. They allowed me to sleep and rest up and get everything out of my system When i stepped down out of detox they started to give me the push i needed to attend the groups. The techs can be tough but it was purely out of love and their want to see their patients get better. The counselors are absolutely amazing. Billy and Pam who unfortunately is no longer there SAVED MY LIFE. They hard very hands on with their case load and gave me every tool i needed to get set on my road to recovery. Now it was up to me to use them. If it was not for this treatment center i would not be sitting here writing this review over 4 years later, a grateful recovering addict. When i look back and remember that i had to push the restart button on my life, i simply think of mirmont, their program as well as their amazing staff. I am forever grateful what this place has done for me and for helping give my mother and father her daughter back, my sisters and brothers -their sister back and for my Niece and nephew their aunt. I would never be allowed the relationships i have today and the life i have gained from a program they have placed my hands in. They want nothing but the best for their patients. It comes down to the patient and whether they are ready to buckle down and take their suggestions and adapt to their rules and regulation for the 30 days of your treatment. If your ready, or know someone who is this is always my first recommendation! I was a tough one to crack- but they didn't stop until they got through to me! I cannot give Mirmont enough credit for helping me build my foundation to start my journey in recovery in 2003. No one goes into treatment because everything is ok in their life. This place doesn't deserve a star. My brother appeared intoxicated they did a room search without him in the room and they were searching his roommates stuff. This was not even 24 hours in the facility. I got a call at 12a that they were kicking him out and putting him in the street in the pouring rain. There was no clinical supervisor on and they wouldn't let him stay till the next day. What if he overdosed ! They are claiming they found a bag of an unknown substance but they were looking in his roommates belongings! They claimed it to be heroin they took a urine he didn't come back positive for opiates! Update spoke to Val clinical coordinator I believe. Impersonal very unaccommodating when asked for information about their patient advocate info. Again was told mainline health does not have have a corporate compliance number. While the facility looks clean, the nursing department is amazing their clinical program has to be revamped. Their marketing director does great trainings if I'm not mistaken I believe that's her title. If you want a nice bed but clinical Aids who are not held accountable for the way they speak to patients then this may be the place for you. I'm happy to say my brother is clean and went to another facility that saved his life! They got him in immediately and their protocols were of mastery level. They investigated situations had the most amazing communication with family members granted a release must be provided. They are in compliance with all risk management procedures and their therapeutic discharge/disciplinary protocols are top notch. They hold both staff and patients accountable. The whole team from nursing to clinical down to dietary and admissions all work together. They don't send out people in the middle of the night on a serax taper ( benzodiazepines) along with other medication until aftercare is set up accordingly and you are transported to another medically safe place. I have heard their have been 3 more situations similar to my family member's within a two weeks time frame . I am not one to downgrade and bad mouth a facility but am appalled at the way this facility handled many people's situations . Just because Ms. Stephanie or some other counselors/CA's have been there years does not make someone clinically professional. If you feel you'd rather work in a prison like atmosphere to exert your control issues on vulnerable people coming off substances the addiction field is not for you. I say this with the most compassion I can from looking how their clinical department runs. At the end of the day I'm tired of seeing Facebook obituaries and this epidemic killing our family members. I get Mirmont is a business and the show must go on. However a suggestion may be to provide more internal trainings for de-escalation and work ethics and risk management protocols for upper management along with all departments. One conversation with a patient can be the difference when they are broken vulnerable coming off substances that have mentally and physically have broken people down. Talking down to people and smiling as you are packing up their belongings is disturbing. I believe a lot of people never follow up because they don't believe they are allowed to have a voice or be treated with just simple respect b/c they are already dealing with the guilt and Shane from the disease. It's up to the patient but with a good support system you can see people flourish in certain programs. I hope Mirmont takes this positive criticism to actually try and help and look at where maybe some changes or procedures need to be addressed . Also denying a patient who is paying for services through their private insurance should have the right to services when they'd like to give feedback on the services they received or a receiving. I don't think anyone should be fired staff are human people make mistakes but I believe after so many years people can become callous or complacent they forget where they came from!!! Some clinical supervision, trainings, education can be the world of difference! Val I hope you take my review as a way to grow in your position I believe Mirmont can flourish but patients are human they make mistakes. I'll The way the situation and aftermath put my family member at risk. If you had read my brothers obit I'm sure risk management would be involved. Keeping a facility safe is priority but you are to provide transportation and never send a patient out to the street without aftercare a home plan a paper trail.... Tom Cain needs to look at the search and therapeutic policy procedure . never should one roommate be allowed all roommates and staff should be present per policy and procedure and a place for the person to be transported immediately especially if under suspicion for use!!!! my family has been trying to get my brother a bed at this facility for a while now. they are always rude to us but today was the final straw. they basically told us to stop calling them because they won't have an opening for at least a week, and that they've been "trying to tell us that", when all they've been telling us is to keep trying the next day. we've been calling every facility that accepts his insurance, we just always would call them first because it was always his first preference. but we will no longer be attempting to get him a place here, as well as recommend it to others. no treatment facility should speak this way to a worried family who is just looking for help. we have been nothing but cooperative with them. read more

If I could give zero stars about this place, I would. Whatever you do, DO NOT send your loved ones to this place!!! My son went there and was there for two days before they asked me to pick him up. He called me the second day that he was there and told me that the staff was mistreating him. My son has some problems with PTSD and cannot have anyone come up behind him and grab him without freaking out because he was once attacked from behind. We made it perfectly clear about that the day he was admitted and when he called me, he told me that a few of the staff members made it a point to do just that (sneak up behind him and grab him). Well, of course he got spooked and freaked out. Well, I received a phone call from one of their "counselors" telling me that I needed to remove him from their property within the hour or they would escort him off. I was trying my best to make arrangements for him to be transferred and I guess I didn't move fast enough because they put him in a taxi cab just to get him out of their facility. HELP PEOPLE??? BULL$H1T!!!! They put an emotionally unstable young man who was begging for help with his addiction in a taxi because they didn't know how to handle things in a professional way. Thankfully it worked out for the best. He went to another treatment center where he was treated with the utmost kindness and respect. NOT LIKE HE WAS TREATED AT THIS RAT HOLE. read more

As soon as I walked in to the rehab the front desk person, Karen was very rude to me after I was especially nice in person. The people on the phone need to learn about patient confidentiality because they obviously don't know anything about it they told me I could come in and gather my brothers things without being on his emergency contact list. I spoke to a counselor to find what is true and of course I have to be on the list. They were so rude to me I literally broke down in tears. I had to ask 3 different people to get the answer. Why does nobody know the answer to this simple question. As far as I know this is a great rehab facility, as told by my brothers. In my experience I just think they need to have a group administration meeting to stop being so unprofessional towards the love ones of drug addicts. read more

My 16 year old attended the intensive outpatient program for 12 weeks. During the last 3 weeks he begun testing positive again and the program and group leaders neglected to let myself or my husband know (despite attending every family group and my son signing a release). Upon calling to verify a class time my son's counselor told me that she couldn't help him and referred me to another program. They did apologize for not notifying me of his relapse, and that's the only nice thing I can say about the program. read more

I would not recommend Mirmont to anyone. I was there 25 hours and it was an exponentially worse experience than anything that happened to me due to alcoholism. I attempted to check myself out after another patient tried to provoke me into a fight during an extremely chaotic "group meditation session." This resulted in me getting locked up for 3 days on a psych ward in a different hospital in a different county. Never in my adult life have I experienced a psychiatric crisis or been locked up anywhere until I went to Mirmont. Now they've sent me a bill for almost $200. read more

I was a patient here in April 2018. The staff overall is excellent -particularly the nursing staff. I was treated with total respect throughout my stay. The facility is very clean and neat. The program is excellent! Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at specific times daily with several options. The meals varied EVERY DAY. They didn't serve one lunch or dinner twice during my 25 day stay and the food was very good. The kitchen staff was very courteous. The dining room is available daily until 10pm for gathering during free time and vending snacks and drinks are available. There is a very regimented schedule and fairly strict guidelines - for good reason. The weekly workshops, meditation, yoga, acupuncture, holistic sessions for medical conditions unrelated to addiction (back problems, etc.), smoking cessation program, lectures, large group meetings and small group meetings with a counselor were very helpful. There is a book store that has books, clothing, toiletries, etc. There is a fully equipped gym, other outdoor sports activities and FREE telephone usage for use during free time. There is also a men's and women's lounge to gather to play games, do puzzles, read or just get together and chat. In addition, there are other activities you can attend, including: movies, professional sports games to watch, group games, Karaoke and art. After you "graduate" from in-patient there are several options for out-patient sessions to assist in your continued recovery. If you truly put your mind to recovering, please take advantage of all Mirmont has to offer. To Missy and Caroline - I'm so sorry that your loved ones did not have the opportunity to experience the full rehab at Mirmont. But, for obvious reasons, substances cannot be brought into the facility and the Agreement the patient signs specifically states this, as well as, Mirmont's right to search a room and/or person at any time - again for the patient and other patients' welfare. Hoping your loved ones are doing well and highly recommend that if they still need guidance to try Mirmont again. A great treatment experience for individuals in need of detox, inpatient rehab and very early recovery. I believe I'm in a good position to assess treatment facilities as an addiction psychologist in Philadelphia and Bala Cynwyd and being 25 years clean and sober myself, I provide addiction treatment consultation and help individuals decide whether they need outpatient, group or inpatient treatment and so I base my evaluation of programs on whether they have evidenced based best practices for treatment according to psychologist and psychiatrist reviewed literature. I strongly recommend that clients be followed by an individual psychologist as well as the addiction counselors in rehabs like Mirmont, Rehab After Work, Retreat Lancaster and Caron because the mental health component of people using substances accounts for 50-70% of the population in treatment at any given time. Mirmont has been a leader in implementing Mindfulness Based practices and applied behavioral therapy in addiction to relapse prevention work which is in part, I suspect, responsible for their success.
