Shawn took a look around, listened to what I had in mind, and thankfully told me what would or wouldn't work. He picked a beautiful quartz counter top, gave me options to choose from for the paint, faucet and hardware. He has a great team working for him. They were respectful and trustworthy. The refinished cabinets look like new. They do high quality work. He made his best effort to get things done within the time frame discussed but, as with any renovation, there were some unexpected issues that led to minor delays and affected cost. I really appreciated how his main concern was that I was happy with the end result. Before and in process photos attached (forgot to take a picture of the final product and don't want to clean the kitchen right now).

Kanika Design - Los Altos hill home remodel and kitchen remodel

    Kanika Design

    (71 reviews)

Kanika is an extremely talented designer, and I can't recommend her enough!…read more We bought a house in March 2020 - signed the contract days before covid stay at home orders. My husband and I then spent two years working from home together in our front room (we call it the study now) without any rhyme or reason, just putting our desks wherever they fit, because it all happened so quickly. It was awkward and ugly, cords and monitors everywhere, and not a great look for people walking in our front door. The whole time, I was thinking, "when this is done and at least one of us goes back to the office, I want to make this room into a nice space to read and relax, and also to WFH when I have to." That's where Kanika comes in. I tried changing the place up on my own, but every choice I made seemed to make my space uglier and more awkward. It was time to hire a professional. That decision was worth every penny. In the end, my project turned out to be slightly bigger than just one room. I enlisted Kanika's help in choosing flooring, baseboards and paint for the whole house, furniture for my entire downstairs (we were still using the old living room furniture left by the previous owners), and light fixtures throughout. She was easy to work with and understood immediately what I was going for. My study is a real showstopper now - the walls are this deep blue color that looks amazing, she designed a gorgeous custom bookshelf that makes perfect use of the space, and she picked a couch that is the perfect size, just the right color, and so comfortable. And we still managed to get a desk in there for those WFH days. Literally just the other day, I was on a Zoom with someone and thought "this room behind me is so pretty, it looks like a fake background." But it's real, and in my house! And it wouldn't have happened without Kanika. The paint color she helped me pick for my bedroom is something I never would have chosen on my own, but I still regularly think about how nice it looks whenever I go in there. Same with the color of the living room couch, I'd never have found it on my own, but now that I have it, I love it. She knows her stuff. Kanika's husband Adi runs the business side of things. He managed the project, hiring contractors and keeping everything on schedule. The work was done on time, and he kept us in the loop, patiently answering any concerns or questions. And, no shenanigans with the final cost. Really, hiring Kanika Design was a great decision for us.

The project is still in progress, but with three major rooms complete, we're convinced working with Samantha was one of the best decisions we've made during our home refresh. First, even though we've been home owners for a while and thought we knew what we were doing, Sam completely changed the way my wife and I think about paint. She asked thoughtful questions to understand how we wanted each room to feel, not just how we wanted it to look. The results have been remarkable. Our once-dark home office is now calm, bright, and inspiring to work in every day. She gently steered our preteen daughter away from indecision to a color that feels sophisticated, warm, and a perfect green that can flex with her changing moods. And our bathroom? She suggested colors that I never would have chosen myself, yet it's become a room visitors compliment all the time. Beyond paint, Samantha also gave us spot-on recommendations for our bedroom's curtains and lighting direction, helping us create a vision for the whole home instead of just choosing colors. She is thoughtful, collaborative, incredibly knowledgeable, and a genuine pleasure to work with. We can't wait to see the remaining rooms come together and recommend Samantha Moss without hesitation.

I appreciate Samantha so much for those reasons. She has been spot on in choosing colors for our home, both interior and exterior. She has also given us valuable interior design suggestions. The cherry on top is that she has been an absolute joy to work with. I am looking forward to having her back to consult on other rooms of our house. I rave about her (whether solicited or not!) to anyone I know who is having their house painted or is choosing paint colors. For any of you who are hesitant, my recommendation is to just say yes! :-)

We got great vintage pieces that were sourced by Lynnore, economic wall covering, and re-used in creative ways-existing pieces that have taken on new meaning and place for us. Our experience could not have been better, and I'm happy to give Lynnore, and I Spy Decor a great recommendation!

Lynnores designs are exemplary. When she tells you they can do some amazing things with paint, believe it. Collaborating with Lynnore is easy, fun, and effective. She knows great subcontractors, custom window covering contractors, specialty services like hanging art, reupholstering furniture, and window films experts. The window film expert convinced us not to use his window film but instead use a sheer window covering provided by another contractor. We had a painter who wasn't performing. Lynnore found us another painter who performed better and cost less, and also smoothed the way with the general contractor. A home renovation can be a tough project to undertake. When you use Lynnore, you know you have a team of people that always has your back and your best interests in mind. She will work with your budget and deliver above-and-beyond stellar results!

If it weren't for Erin, I'm pretty sure I would have just about given up on my home remodel by now…read more I am in the process of completely revamping a one-story 3 bedroom house. While I have always loved looking at home design stores and shopping for cool vintage pieces, I've never been able to tie entire spaces together in a cohesive way and thought hiring a designer would make sense. The thing I soon realized after talking to multiple design firms is that most of them only seem to care about two things: 1) your design budget and 2) your willingness to let them control construction work. And here's the thing, I get it. If I were an interior designer, I'd want someone to give me $10,000+ just for design and all the keys to the kingdom. It'd be easier for me. But I am not. I am just your average thirty-something who is finally establishing their first real entire house of their own, does not have an endless design budget, and actually wants to be actively involved in the process of remodeling. I wanted someone who I could bring a bunch of ideas to and guide me on what fits together and what doesn't, and teach me how to make a place feel like a beautifully tailored home as opposed to a hodgepodge of stuff that looks cool. Someone who could help keep me on track, troubleshoot problems, and weigh in on decisions. Enter Erin. Erin is like that one really kind and patient friend you always go to when you need someone to honestly and thoughtfully tell you what is gonna look good or not look good on you, or in this case, your home. She will never make you feel inferior for how much you are able to spend, or dumb for suggesting certain ideas. She is just gonna calmly talk you through figuring out all the thousands of small and large decisions that come along with a remodel so it's not quite so daunting and overwhelming. It is truly so much easier and so much more fun to have her on your team. She is currently based in Brooklyn and we are able to get a ton of work done through weekly virtual meetings. She offers different design hour packages that are flexible enough to meet whatever needs, budget, and degree of desire to be actively involved in the process you may have. I am using her for everything from interior design to exterior paint colors to weighing in on landscaping. So, please do not book up all her hours because I plan on using a lot of them. Once we finish each phase of the remodel, I'll update this review with pictures of the before and after.
