Wilkes can be tough depending on your program but it'll prepare you for the workforce. They offer a lot of opportunity so you'll get your bang for your buck. I wish I was still going here but alas it's too expensive for me to return to.

Campus is easily accessible off of Rt 80. Approximately 3 miles and a straight shot that is made even easier by all the signage. The famous Turkey Hill inn is nearby as well. Picturesque setting with mountains on several sides of the campus. After interacting with 5-6 coeds trying to find the bookstore (all were extremely amicable) I found it. Meter parking across the street. (.25 for 25 minutes) I had visual aids, aka screenshots, of the gear we wanted. Lisa, the Manager, was very helpful, and even gave me 20% off for Alumni discount. Took some more pics, never found Carver Hall, (got a Postcard instead) and left very impressed.

If you go to King's, choose a major in computer science, nursing, or physician's assistant. Otherwise, you may end up like me. King's admission rate is 77%, and the national average is 65%. According to PrepScholar, "[w]ith a GPA of 3.38, King's College accepts below-average students." I found that to be the case, as most students seemed not to care about the classes or much else for that matter. The career planning office is a joke. They had interviews for used car sales jobs. Need I say more? If you don't major in something that is medically or computer science related, your degree will likely be worth nothing from here. I was doing well in life until I got the King's. I was a loyal student and supported my school. They didn't support me. They ruined my life by giving me a costly degree that had and has no value.

Prior to my story from a while back, I'm further cementing the fact that Brian Overman, the…read morearchitecture professor here, is a covert narcissist and a career predator. For x number of years he's gotten away with appearing 1-2 1/2 hours later to every morning course. He did not know how to provide constructive criticism or any feedback. He was literally a shell of an excuse for a professor. I only had his courses in my first semester when I was an interior design student. I switched my major to painting illustrations mid semester but still had to finish through. Brian Overman is an overgrown child who throws tantrums and makes disgusting remarks to his students cause he can't hand confrontation or his job for that matter. I don't know what happened prior in his younger years, but every student has to start somewhere. For a professor who was constantly getting special treatment, he relentlessly targeting me and harassing me around classmates because of my neurodivergence and because the neurotypicals in class claimed I was complaining about him. I can assure you that I kept to myself and most of his students in EVERY CLASS complained about his inappropriate behavior. I even had to listen to students complaining still through my next 2 years of attending since my courses were still in the same building. He is an over grown man whining that his students don't like him. He is mentally unstable and unfit for a job. He was actually acting like a different person 2 smewaters later and I tried to be kinder to him. We had numerous private conversations where he did confess to his own mental health struggles including ADHD and his sexuality closeted too. I emphasize these conversations because he has no regard and there is a continuing pattern of him blurring boundaries. I tried to view him in a morning sympathetic light because he seemed like he grew up sheltered and conditioned. I forgave him for he way he treated me during my first semester. One day I gifted him a 4 set of architectural design mugs for only $10 which was nothing more than a novelty gift. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm like that. Instead of speaking to me like an adult, Brian Overman immediately started gossiping to students who spread it to more students in Building 12 ATC. I was already being targeted, harassed, and threaten by students for several months and other faculty did nothing. I went through 3 weeks of sleep deprivation because I was afraid for my life to keep going to school. Until I finally went to the doctors and counseling to explain the situation. And have it documented. I started taking sleep aids again because Brian Overman triggered my CPTSD. This was after I confronted him 2x about the harassment. So he retaliated against me by then going to the security and president's office to trying to get me expelled. At one point, I meantiones that I would find out about filing a lawsuit because President Leary kept threatening me to keep my mouth shut every time I tried to defend my side. I was told that if I didn't stop talking in the last meeting that I would be expelled. That's when they forced Northeast Counseling Services to take me as a patient. If I wanted my degree I had to continue with therapy in my last 2months. nCS didn't want to take on my case because they were angry with the school for doing this. I begged them to let me cause they were going to expell me otherwise. nCS agreed that I would continue treatment until May 10 when I was scheduled to graduate. This whole school has been predatory. They deserve to have to keep hearing about it. Brian Overman is a covert narcissist and a covert narcissist will literally do anything to keep playing victim. I had 2 contacts following in 2017 and 2019 where I did not actually even bother him. But he has his own mental instabilities and the school and now others want to entertain white men like him to keep preying.

Beasley bronze bust, made in celebration of 140 years since Brawley graduated from Bucknell.

In terms of academics, the classes were nice and the professors were lovely people, but I would recommend making sure that your chosen major is something that the University specializes in. I chose to go there for theatre, and I found that they were lacking in performance opportunities and resources for the arts in general. The classes were all beginner level, and did not extend beyond basic training. I felt like I was repeating middle/high school level classes. Bucknell is great for math, science, and engineering majors. If you are the type of person that cares about having things to do off campus, Lewisburg is not the place for you. There are very few options for entertainment and trying to shop without having access to a car is very difficult. The nearby towns are just as barren as Lewisburg. You will inevitably get stuck on campus. If you have any kind of food allergies or need for meal plan accommodations, good luck getting dining services to take you seriously. It took me six weeks of fighting the school and getting my parents and healthcare providers involved to convince them to let me eat somewhere other than the main food hall. The staff are not careful about cross-contamination and do not understand allergies at all. The social life on campus is nearly non-existent. Unless you are in a frat/sorority, it is very difficult to find a social outlet and make friends. I am personally not interested in sororities, but I found myself having to gravitate toward them to have something to do most days. It was incredibly hard to find information about clubs and groups, and the few that I joined were nearly inactive. If you care about diversity and inclusion, Bucknell is not the right university to attend. The majority of the students are white upper-middle class students who come from very rich families and they all look and talk the same. There is a severe gossip culture on campus, and the friends you make will more than likely be quite shallow. It feels like being trapped in middle school and the campus/student population is tiny so there is really nowhere to escape if you get caught in the wrong crowd of people. Most people that I met there had to rely on their academics to stay occupied and otherwise felt miserable because of the lack of on and off campus activities. Even if you do find activities that suit you, it is very hard to find nice, trustworthy people. I started there having plenty of friends and only had one when I left due to the disingenuous nature of the student body. If there is anything nice I can say, it is that the campus is beautiful, and you can definitely rely on the professors to have your back if nobody else does. If you know that Bucknell is the place for you, I wouldn't want you to be turned away by my review. My advice is just to make sure that if you do choose to go there, you are prepared for the environment: small town, intense party and frat/sorority culture, a very focused area of expertise, and a real and somewhat concerning lack of diversity and inclusion.
