He always has exceeded my expectations with his range of knowledge, kind demeanor, and personable bedside manner. He could be compared to a "television and movie" doctor that makes house calls... except that patients have realized how remarkable he is that he'd have too many! I highly recommend him to anyone in Brazoria and Galveston counties, and anywhere in the south and southeast Greater Houston Area. Staff are excellent and I've never had any problems. I can't say enough how great he is. Dr. Messer is a "small town doctor" in the sense that he knows much about almost every condition and is never flustered about something. His breadth of knowledge is such that he has many contacts for referrals to specialists as needed. He has an almost eidetic memory for patients and conditions as well. I cannot praise him enough. As a side note, as a younger man he volunteered, enlisted, and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War in that nation as a physician to serve our troops during the conflict, so he is committed to care and the US.

It was earlier than the 5 years they protected for, but I preferred not to drop $1,000 with only a couple months notice when I could have 5 years to either hope my situation changed or save up for a new IUD. I was already on my 3rd IUD and had gotten 1 replaced early for this same reason, so I didn't think it would be a problem. Not Dr.Shiloe. Nope. She decided to tell me that in fact, I did not need a new IUD earlier than was "medically necessary", regardless of the reason. She completely disregarded the fact that I was on my 3rd IUD, I knew the risks, I knew how my body reacted to them, and I was going to get another one anyway, but nope. Just created more hassle and expense and made me feel somewhat embarrassed, as if I'd done something wrong. Will not be returning.

There are a few phone #s to call for an appointment or other matters & if no one is able to answer your call.. There is a messaging system that gives you instructions for whatever you may be calling for, there is also email &/or fax the office can be reached through.. Dr. Bruce does her best to accommodate her patients. I require monthly medication but Dr. Bruce only requires me to see her personally 4 times a year, unless a visit is needed sooner. I have to come in every 30 days to pick up my prescriptions for a Controlled Substance (as is Required by Federal Law) but for that I simply pay a $25 nurses visit.. Otherwise, I can simply get the pharmacy to call in when I need a refill. The down side is.. sometimes it's not easy to get in because Dr. Bruce stays booked with many satisfied patients, but if you really need to get in to see Dr. Bruce, her staff will work you in somehow (because they care!). It's hard to find doctors we trust & feel cared about in this day & age, but when you do find one.. You keep them.. That's why I've been with & stood behind my doctor all these years!.. I had a horrible experience with this doctor and his facility, Medic Lane Physicians. I woke up…read moreone Saturday morning with an excruciatingly painful sore throat. Having recently registered as a patient at Medic Lane, I called the office and got a recording that said office hours on Saturday were 8AM-12Noon. Yet no one picked up at 8:05, 8:10, or even 8:20. I finally called the "after hours" number and got a live operator at an answering service, who said she'd page the doctor on call. Around 8:40 I got a call from Dr. Dewitt, who said he could see me at 10 AM. When I arrived, I asked the receptionist, Christine, why no one had answered the phone earlier. "We don't open till 9:00 on Saturdays," she said. I informed her that the office voicemail said 8 to Noon. "It's 9:00!" she replied. I said, "Well, you might want to change the recording then, because it says 8:00." "It's 9:00! Jesus Christ!" she shouted at me. That's a direct quote, believe it or not; I could hardly believe my ears! I'd been speaking to her calmly and in a normal tone of voice, and here she was, literally yelling and cursing at me for no reason! About that time the office manager came over to see what the commotion was about, and Christine said I was giving her a hard time. Then the manager started berating me for having "a bad attitude!" I can assure you, if I hadn't been in such terrible pain, I would have told them both off and walked out. But I really needed a doctor, so I stayed. When Dr. Dewitt saw me, I mentioned in passing that I'd had pharyngitis twice before and that antibiotics had cured it. Without performing any tests, he wrote a prescription for antibiotics and a mild pain killer and sent me on my way. My condition improved, but when I finished the course of antibiotics 10 days later, the sore throat came back with a vengeance. After 14 days it was as bad or worse than before. I did some online research and learned that the two primary causes of pharyngitis are bacterial (strep throat) and viral. If it's viral, antibiotics don't work. I returned to Medic Lane and saw another doctor, who, at my request, swabbed my throat and ran a test. It confirmed that my condition was indeed viral. That necessarily means that Dr. Dewitt committed medical malpractice on me that day! There's no way to sugarcoat it. He undeniably prescribed unneeded medication without confirming whether it was indicated, and his negligence prolonged the healing of my sore throat for two full weeks. It cleared up on its own after another 12 days, which it would've done originally if the antibiotics hadn't interfered with the natural healing process. In retrospect, I'm not sure which makes me angrier: Dr. Dewitt's carelessness or the rudeness and abuse I suffered at the hands of the Medic Lane staff. But it goes without saying, I never went back. My advice: avoid this place like the plague! Trust me, you can do better.
