Second, the institution only sent out one email notification and no other forms of communication. As a result, my elementary school-aged child was dropped off by their transportation service and left alone outside the classroom for an hour and a half, as they had forgotten to bring a watch or any other communication device to contact us. I hope that in similar situations, the institution will not only use email but also provide a second notification the day before the cancellation via text, voicemail, or a call. This would prevent similar incidents from happening again.

It wasn't an easy adjustment, but my 73 yr old Dad found comfort in making new friends. With he new environment, he was able to enjoy activities with other seniors and find time for himself too. One of his passion is making trades on the stock market. We got him an iPad so he can carry it with him and still able to enjoy the activities at the facility without being confined to his computer in his apartment. However, the iPad is just a little different from a PC that my father was having trouble using it. A friend referred me to this service so I contacted DeDe. I left her a vm and she promptly called me back the following day. As soon as we spoke, I knew she was the right person for the job. I explained my Dad was having a hard time with his new iPad even though he has used a computer all his life. She explained that it is a common misconception that an iPad operates like a computer, in fact they are very different. She said that she makes house calls and she can help him set up his iPad so it can use the wifi at the senior center and print to a local printer if they have a wireless printer and she can show him how to use the device. I got her in touch with my Dad and she made an appointment with him a week later at his apartment and set him right up. My Dad told me she was patient, funny, and really knows her stuff. He even Skyp me one night which I thought was so nice. He now has her coming to work with him and his friends at the senior facility on different things; she even fixed his computer one day. They are even talking about getting an iPad class together at the center on a regular basis to teach other seniors how to use their iPads effectively. I find that very heart warming that my Dad with DeDe's help has found a new interest in his new life. For only $60 a hour, she gave my Dad and his senior friends new purpose in life. I think she not only offers a great value for people who are on a fixed income, but she gives them a new purpose and that is worth so much more.
