My anxiety level was high and my mind had been racing for weeks. I was scheduled for a 'sound bath', a new experience for me. I was sure it was NOT going to work because I was too stressed out, but the minute I was introduced to Krystal I knew I was in for something special. She had such a powerful positive energy and the process really helped quiet down my mind. From there they helped me sort out my feelings, find ways to relax and regroup. This is not just a therapists' office, that's for sure. The whole center smells great and around every corner is something else to make a person feel at easy and just.. better. I was a client at The Missing Peace for 5 months. When I started I was in the midst of the longest episode of depression that I've ever experienced-9 1/2 months. My first day there all I could do was cry. Everyone I met who worked there was so kind, warm & compassionate & they just met me where I was with no judgment. I have been to other IOP's (Intensive Outpatient Programs) in the past but never one that incorporated all of the Eastern based modalities that this one has-massage, sound baths, individual & group therapy, art therapy, etc. This intrigued me because I believe we are wholistic as humans & the mind, body & spirit all need to be addressed if complete & lasting healing is to take place. The Missing Peace far exceeded my expectations! Within a couple of weeks of being there, I was not only completely healed of my depression but I was "operating on all cylinders" again & feeling happy & excited about life! I thoroughly enjoyed every second I was there & would literally skip into the Center with joy & anticipation with what this new day there would bring me there! Every therapist & employee is so very compassionate & unconditional in their care & my soul just felt like it had found a safe refuge for healing & thriving! I was fortunate enough to be paired with the owner-Laura as my individual therapist & she was absolutely wonderful in helping me to get to the core of my depression & finally digging out the roots of it in a loving way that enabled me to fall back in love with myself & my life again & to be unconditionally happy! I found The Missing Peace Center for Anxiety to be one of the most comfortable and caring places I've ever been to. When I met Laura, I found her to be warm, kind and caring. She was very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable, and I was able to open up to her about the issues I needed help dealing with (which is hard to do with someone you don't know!). Linda, the Director of Operations is super nice and very helpful with any questions regarding insurance and billing. Tiffany is a wonderful massage therapist. I thoroughly enjoyed my massages with her! Jesslyn does great reiki work. I only had the opportunity to meet with her one time, and would love to work with her again in the future. Jessica is a great art therapist, but I have no artistic ability whatsoever, so I found art therapy to be a little out of my comfort zone. I was a little hesitant to do the group therapy sessions at first, but I found that they helped me to know that I wasn't alone in what I was dealing with in life. I did a few one one one therapy sessions with Jill Black, and found her to be a great therapist who offered up great suggestions on how to deal with some of my issues. Nicola has such a great aura about her. I always felt such a warm glow from her, and definitely enjoyed the sessions I had with her. The life size zen garden they have at the center is super relaxing for me, and I could have spent hours raking the sand in there if I had the time. I'm currently living in another state, but if and when I make it back to California, I will definitely go back to The Center! I am grateful for The Missing Peace in helping me find paths to work with my mind and escape the torment of negative thinking that became unmanageable. I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. The centers approach is healing and liberating which allows me to feel safe and hopeful to feel like myself again. Yes, I still have my days where I may be down or anxious and depressed about something, but now for i can recognize my patterns. I went to this institution for a therapy session in hopes of repairing a fractured family dynamic. Janine, one of the therapists who has been seeing my sister acted inappropriately upon greeting me by making unwelcome facial expressions and touching my sister to comfort her (almost to prep her) before the session even started. She had no context of my perspective, and as a person of color, made me feel as though I had been villainized unjustly before I had the chance to say a word. This is not the experience I was expecting and soured my impression of a seemingly well-respected institution. Re; the help of Laura Rhodes Levin. My son had a bad motorcycle accident and he has dealt with GI health issues the last five years, due to parasites that embedded in his intestines. His physiology had been changed, adapted by the parasites. We went to talk to Laura last July, by recommendation, because we were at a loss of what to do. He was still throwing up his food 2-3 times per week, even though the parasites had been gone for well over a year. His body was still rejecting food. He could not gain weight. He was 5-9- 106 lbs. his eyes were dark, and we were afraid for him. Even two GI specialists said, "we don't know" what to do. Regular counseling and psych therapy didn't have an effect. Laura, after one meeting and a look at his history determined a course of action to retrain his brain and body through various therapies. Outpatient 3 times a week for about 3 months. I can't even go into details cuz I don't know all the particulars, but here's the result of her work. I asked my son about a month ago, how's it going, how do you feel, is the food staying down? He said, for the first time in 5 years, he felt "normal". Do you have any idea how spectacular it could be to just feel normal after 5 years of being sick? I was in tears. Last weekend he was with me and here is what I see. His skin clear, his face looks fuller, his eyes are no longer dark. His weight is up by 10 lbs. He has not expelled his nutrition since about 4 months. He is transformed. Again, I'm in tears. Laura, and her associates have restored him. More than just physically, his confidence is back. His outlook on life is new, positively revived. He was depressed, but no longer. I have to give him credit too for fiercely following direction! Are you out of options, lost, don't know what to do? This center is AMAZING! I was having really bad anxiety with nightmares that kept me up all hours of the night. Laura Rhodes-Levin and her staff are so kind and genuinely care about every patient. I have seen immense improvement in my anxiety after just ONE session of neurofeedback therapy. I am utterly amazed! Every time I go back for a session, I am able to sleep, feel more centered daily, and have noticed a major shift in my anxiety levels overall. I finally feel normal again. My honest review was taken down by the center and I am just livid. Reposting the highlights here: *My traumatic experience at the center is something I am still processing with the help of my new therapist. What I am realizing now is that the missing peace was purposefully making my anxiety worse while pushing me to come more often, and more importantly, spending more insurance money on their exorbitant fees. *They began meticulously driving a wedge between me and everyone in my life. They tried to blame my supportive parents and my wonderful significant other for my anxiety. They twisted every minorly uncomfortable event from my past into something hugely traumatic that I needed to relive and then overcome (with their help, of course). They filled me with fear while constantly assuring me that they were the only ones who could help me. Before long I had joined the IOP program. I was going 3 times a week and my life began to crumble. *Weird things started happening in my other appts. Laura's employees started mentioning things that I had told her in confidence in therapy. It was so subtle at first, "have you ever experienced (blank)?". Then they would gently guide me in the direction that Laura had guided me in previously, reinforcing her control over me. In a massage once I expressed that I felt like I was getting worse and that I wasn't sure I was going to continue. The next day in group the topic was why we get worse before we get better and why it's so important to stick with the work. Later, a neuro tech said, "Have you experienced getting worse at something before you got better?" And then reinforced how important it is to stick with it. This happened over and over again and I felt like I was being brainwashed. It's all very creepily orchestrated, not to mention unethical and breaks confidentiality laws. *I started feeling like something wasn't right and began to pull back on my schedule. That's when I was told I needed MORE therapy and that I should take a leave from work to come 5 days a week! I declined. *My insurance eventually stopped paying and I was left to pick up the pieces of my life. My new therapist is helping me unravel the trauma and malpractice I experienced. I haven't yet gotten over being used in such a malicious way. A group of former clients are still in touch and are looking into filing a joint complaint with the state board. We don't want anyone else to suffer in the ways we did. GO ELSEWHERE. read more

I'm eternally grateful and blessed to have met such an amazing person to connect with and bounce off my (often times crazy) thought process. When I met Laura, I immediately felt very comfortable with her. She has been a very good support system for me and my husband before and during our wedding. Laura was (and is still) an integral part of ensuring my then fiance' (now husband) and I didn't crack under pressure from planning the wedding and getting through our day to day issues. Growing up, I didn't give therapy any type of credit. I was always taught to shove those emotions up the deepest, darkest hole and never let it out. I have to be honest. I was skeptical at first about what this place could really offer me. I found that when I immersed myself in therapy and truly opened my heart to Laura's suggestions... I transcended through my pain and Laura helped me get through to the other side. Maryna Allen, the energy "Chi" therapist, also worked miracles. I don't know how and I don't usually believe in real healers of the world, but she is one. I always left her sessions feeling a new freedom and strength within me. The same goes for the massage therapist, Ness... OMG... Heaven!!! Lastly, Cynthia, the art therapist, is amazing as well. The whole staff is top notch. I can't go into all of the details of my experience here because I am looking into joining one of several lawsuits pending against this establishment. But, I did experience malpractice. Please, please do your research before entrusting your mental health in their hands. I wish I had known about the lawsuits before endeavouring on the painful journey which was my experience here. If you do decide to take the risk, do your research regarding who is administering the neurofeedback and what qualifications they have. Also, make sure that a qualified neuro specialist is actually going to look over your results and ensure that you aren't being harmed. This establishment's main focus is revenue and patient safety and wellbeing comes second. In my opinion Laura's expertise with the AA program absolutely clouds her ability to trust and treat patients without addiction issues. My recommendation is to absolutely go elsewhere. read more

I've been seeing Laura for about a year and a half now and she is AMAZING. I've tried a couple other therapist prior but no one compares to how Laura practices. She's passionate about her work and actually takes the time to understand your situation. Being from an Indian background she had to understand the different dynamics, cultural values and behaviors that's are accepted within my community. Laura Rhodes-Levin is an amazing therapist and human being! She really understands how the brain works. Her business name is "the missing peace" and what she does during her therapy sessions is really taking you back to that missing peace of mind. When I first met Laura, I came to her to just try the neurofeedback. I was curious. I didn't know she was also the therapist. So when she approached me with all the questions and proposed to have half a session of talk therapy, I was rather reluctant to say the least :) Boy, was I wrong! Now, I sometimes skip the neurofeedback part of the session just to have a talk with her! She understands the complexity and struggles of the mind and helps you sort out the mess in your head in the simplest way possible. She takes a situation you are in, sorts and dissects it, and presents it to you in such a simple format that you go like "oh, but this is so simple and so true!" It's like she has an answer for every difficult situation. But she is not a life coach or motivational speaker. She is a real deal therapist! I have tried numerous therapies over the many years - counseling, psychologists, psychiatrists, antidepressants - nothing helped in a longer run. Laura, with her knowledge and spiritual approach, and of course the neurofeedback has taken me out of the darkest place I've ever been. And she really cares!
