[I did not work with this branch, but with Sean Cosgrove, Mortgage Loan Originator for Mission Fed] Working with Sean Cosgrove (seanc@missionfed.com) at Mission Fed was AMAZING! I shopped a dozen places for mortgage rates, and Sean was by far the most competitive. Beyond that, he was extremely responsive throughout the process, from discussing various loan options, to liaising with our real estate agent and a seller's real estate agent, to quarterbacking every aspect of underwriting, to seeing every detail through to the close of escrow. We originally had a 21 day escrow, and ended up closing in 17 days. Great rates, extremely responsive, trustworthy -- no-brainer to work with Sean. Could not recommend him more. read more

Been banking here for 20+ years. They have done some shitty things in the past but today was by far the worst. Opened up a new account SEPARATE from my other two and left the bank. Went to the grocery store right after and all my cards were non-functional. I called member services and they told me all my accounts had been closed out and my remaining balanced was transferred to the new account which the bank knew I had no access to until the new card arrived in the mail (7-10) days from today . Customer service told me the bank was aware and the branch manager would try to call me back before cob which was in 1 hour before a 3 day holiday weekend. I had to leave work to go back in person to made sure they returned the funds so I could have access to them. The bank manager knew it was urgent and basically blew me off. I had to go back in person to make sure it got sorted. Your bank should help you not put you in extremely stressful situations. NOT COOL read more

They messaged me to ask for my contact information to resolve this and have yet to contact me.... lol OH and I went to the San Marcos branch the next day and they were able to open my account with ZERO issues. Hmmm makes me think maybe it had something to do with being racially profiled because of my ID... Just stopped by this branch (Encinitas) and now I'm not surprised by all the bad reviews they have... I showed up to my appointment at 1pm, the teller told me to take a seat to wait for the banker who was going to help me. This older woman comes to grab me at 1:17-- mind you, I'm on my lunch break... So I let her know what I need (open a savings account) and she condescendingly tells me she can't help me because of the type of ID I have (it was government issued but not a drivers license) and goes on to tell me that she doesn't know why I even came in with that ID if the manager on the phone told me I needed a license. I don't know how this woman is still employed. Save yourself the hassle and go to the San Marcos branch, they have much nicer and professional staff. read more

I'm still in shock on the unprofessionalism that I experienced at MF. The teller Stephina was so so rude that it brought me to tears. She said multiple times that "Im not dealing with you" when all I wanted was my card printed. She didn't know how to print the card so the card machine did not print correctly and told me "there's nothing I can do" as she smirked and waved me off. Finally a manager came and magically it printed. Stephina's rudeness was such a joke. The manager and teller refused to hand me my card until I signed a form I was clearly not comfortable signing. Worst experience with a bank I have ever had. Forcing people to sign anything is not ok. read more

Hooray for Mission Federal. I have been to this location for their services several times when I have been in the area, and each time I was treat with respect and like I matter to them. Most importantly, it is not my local branch, and I like that I receive the same service as if I were at my local credit union. They sport a security guard out in front near the ATM and as usual no ATM fees for all credit union members. read more

I love this bank. Been here for probably 30 years. Any teller is trained to help with anything so no extra waiting when you need to dispute charges or whatever. My only issue is that relatively frequent staff changes (6 months or so) mean that new tellers can't approve your deposit if it's over their 'limit'. They need to get a manager's approval. And you must ask them to do that or you just walk out unable to access more than 25% of your deposit. They do hire good people, though, who call you by name. Small, personalized service. Good products, free checking, no limit savings. Good place to park your funds. read more

After multiple problems with my PIN number for which you have to call an another phone number - my card was compromised and they called me to let me know someone was trying to buy flights on Hong Kong air. The problem was that after the conversation I had to call a different number to get a new card sent to me. If you like having a bank account there requires endless phone calls just to get things working This is the bank for you! I prefer not to have my banking require part time job hours. The worst! I'm going in to close my account this week! So far no good. They contract with a company who sets up your debit card PIN number and after several attempts and a visit to the branch, they still can't seem to get it right. When I go in, all they can do is offer to call the PIN company on my behalf, a lengthy process when you're just trying to make a quick deposit. Since I cannot use my bank card as a debit card and because I cannot use and ATM to make a deposit without a working PIN number and because I cannot obtain my balance information via the phone without a working PIN number (which i have set up three times now) I find this bank service usw read more

I really like Mission Fed and it's nothing against this credit union but this specific branch had the most rude, insensitive and pessimistic loan representative I've ever experienced. I came here with my husband to inquire about a potential car loan and balance transfer card and were greeted by a woman who truly appeared to hate her job. She quite literally used the word, "mess" to describe my husbands credit and although it is, I don't think that's the most professional way to speak to customers. I'm in customer service myself and would never use that term when someone is clearly asking for advice/ a professional opinion. If it were possible to give less than one star, I would. I live in Los Angeles and don't get to San Diego often. I have been a Mission Fed client for 40+ years. I have been trying for FIVE MONTHS to transfer a Roth IRA from Mission Fed to my private investment company. At least 6 phone calls, a fax, emails, and mailing in a notarized form and every time I call to see where's my transfer...I get told they "don't show we've ever received anything." I have been assured that someone in the know will call me back, and no one ever does. Oh yeah, and they won't allow me to close my account t online or over the phone, only in person. I don't know if the CEO if is incompetent, unaware, or just doesn't care, but the end result is that my money is being held hostage by Mission Federal Credit Union's culture of indifference. Perhaps my experience isn't typical but I would advise against putting your funds there. read more

I bank with mission fed, have a auto loan, as well as a credit card through them. I like mission fed in general. I applied to get a credit limit increase on my credit card just for credit building purposes. I have done this on several of my credit cards and haven't had any issues. Well mission fed does a hard inquiry on your credit so instead of helping my credit it is probably going to hurt it. When I applied it did not say anywhere they were going to do a hard pull and I'm not very happy about that. Also their banking app. Is horrible. read more

I moved my personal checking account and kids' savings accounts here after being sick and tired of Wells Fargo and their constant bullshit. This time, after over a decade of having my accounts there, they found yet another way to try to nickle and dime me to death. But no more! My husband already has banked with Mission Fed for some time, so the switch was so easy for me! I had already experienced through his relationship with them how PERSONABLE they are. How LOCAL they feel. When I call in for customer sevice, I GET CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! AND - it's in ..... AMERICA! And even better than that, it's in SAN DIEGO! YESSSS!!! They have an iPhone app to check balances (not to use for deposits or anything like that), and they have a co-op of ATM's that you can use without fees, even for deposits. I use the drive up ATM at San Diego County Credit Union, and they don't require envelopes or deposit slips! Cool beans. The staff has always been amazingly professional, helpful and courteous. Every single time. In the branch or on the phone. And they are free. Wow. I'm the biggest fan ever. read more

In fact I'm still waiting for an email response from Thursday morning and today is Monday. She is not friendly nor does she care about my best interest. This review is ONLY for Elaine Huberts and their Auto loan experience, I have not fully banked with them yet. However after my experience I am thinking about switching from BOA. Elaine was outrageously helpful in the process of getting my car loan. The transaction involved the seller having a loan as well. Sometimes that can get tricky, however Elaine had all the paperwork done before hand, I came in and signed and that was it. Took a total of 15 minutes, she also took care of all the DMV paperwork and answered all questions I had perfectly. My monthly payment was lower than expected and I locked in a 1.89 simple interest rate (amortization formula). Great deal, great service. I highly recommend ELAINE HUBERTS for your car loan. I recently gave a rave review for the the Mission Federal Credit Union in Encinitas. Since then I have had a very unpleasant transaction there, through their auto-buying department, "Autoland." The salesman gave me a pretty hard sell. I think he was not honest about what he told me before I bought the car. Since I bought it, I have had to spend $400 on repairs needed to the car which clearly had been needed before I bought the car. I am still waiting for reimbursement. I would not recommend Autoland. The salesman who worked with me is Eric Galal. I went to the Credit Union thinking I would avoid the hard-sell tactic of a used car salesman, but that's exactly what I got. Pat read more

I'm not sure how anyone on planet earth could give Mission Federal Credit Union (MFCU) five stars! They are a horrible bank and this location in particular, is their worst. I live in Cardiff and always make the commute to the Solana Beach branch because the Encinitas branch is so incompetent. I'm not going to go over the time this branch shut down my card in the past (for no reason), or any of the other things they have done that have not been intelligent or beneficial to my banking relationship with them. I'll just talk about today... Today, I called Mission Federal Credit Union's main phone line and asked if I could exchange some currency. I had about 100 Euros. They said I could and there was no minimum, just a $10 fee. I went into the Encinitas branch location and they said they couldn't do it. There were no other customers in the bank and the 3 people working at the front desk. They all looked at each other and agreed that I needed at least 200 Euros to make an exchange with their bank. I informed all 3 of them I got off the phone with the MFCU line (800-500-6328) before I drove to the branch and they said I could trade in the Euros with no minimum. Again, they all reassured me this was not correct. Rather they directed me to Carlsbad where I paid a 30% exchange rate and a $8 fee. I called the MFCU line on my way back from Travelex and told them I didn't appreciate them giving me false information about the exchange amount. They told me there was no minimum for the exchange for a second time. The MFCU line representative insisted on putting me on hold for 10 minutes and called the Encinitas branch before telling me they messed up. They wanted to continue to put me on hold while I waited. At this point I have wasted 1 hour of my day to make a 20 minute currency exchange and was given a poor exchange rate. No apology, nothing... The representative wanted to keep me on hold again while she gossiped to the Encinitas branch. I am done with this bank. The Encinitas MFCU branch Union cost me about $30 in the exchange, 1 hour of my time, and $5 in gas (as I drive an 8cyl SUV). I have banked with Mission Federal for over 10 years and they still seem to treat me and other people I know that have banked with them like numbers and not people. I'm not sure what happened to MFCU over the years but I am not going to do business with them any more. I'm transferring the rest of my money and automatic payments to another account within the next month. The people at MFCU do not value my time or money. I'm going to save myself the grief and go somewhere else. read more

I've called twice this morning and twice yesterday and got the standard sentence, our volume of calls is causing greater than usual wait times. I wait, and then get disconnected. There is no phone number for individual branches. I have a simple question. It's aggravating that I have to drive to the credit union to get an answer. The credit union itself I would give four stars. The people are very nice, but the hours should be extended during the week and on Saturdays. read more

I purchased the mechanical breakdown warranty at the time I received my auto loan with Mission Federal and recently had to visit the service department, due to the check engine light coming on. I was not worried as I knew I had the insurance.. After being told 4 times by the insurance company to take apart something that could literally not be taken apart to prove that it was malfunctioned, meaning they were not going to cover it, I contacted Mission Federal to express to them the bad service I was receiving from a company whose product they sell. Elisa with the insurance division of Mission Federal stepped in and she was able to get them to understand that it was a problem that would fall under my warranty. This ended up saving me $1,900 in out of pocket repairs. Elisa was always in communication with us and got us back into a working car in a few days. I have been a member of Mission Federal for over 15 years and will be with yhem.for life. Elisa wanted to make sure we were happy customers and she sure came through. I have always had great experiences with Mission Fed and the Encinitas branch in particular. All of the staff and tellers provide excellent customer service as they are polite and very helpful. Just recently tried Auto Land and was blown away at how willing Eric Gulal was to educate and assist me in finding and purchasing a car. I decided to go with a lease and was pleasantly surprised when he did not hesitate to mediate the process with the dealerships on my behalf. Even though the bank would not end up being my financier for a lease Eric still gave me advice along the way that helped me to get a great deal!
