Lovely, homey feeling rest stop with all things Mississippi accented inside. The lovely ladies are friendly and welcoming, engaging in chit chat with you, asking you to sign their book. The bathrooms are clean and the pamphlets are a plenty. Mississippi Welcome Center - Cultural Center Near Me - Tremont, Mississippi

Stopped here on our Atlanta-to-LA road trip. I was just expecting a rest stop, but this is a whole lot more than that. It is a welcome center staffed with an employee who is obviously proud of Mississippi and loves to share her knowledge of everything Mississippi. Inside, the Mississippi Welcome Center, in Tremont, MS, was like a little museum that had rooms set up like southern parlors. One of the rooms has a working pump organ, which takes coordination because the organ player has to continuously pump the bellows with his/her feet while playing the organ. I was amazed to see and hear this working when a woman started pumping and playing Amazing Grace on it, and it sounded nice, especially for such an old instrument (had to be over 100 years old). Another room had a cutout and picture of Mississippi native Elvis Presley, along with maps of and guides about everything Mississippi. The woman staffing the welcome center was so nice and engaging. She could probably tell you everything about Mississippi that you'd care to know! The men's restroom has old figures, but it's clean and everything works. Outside, there is lots of green space, with picnic tables, some with their own weather shelters and others without, spread throughout the area. This is lots of parking spread throughout for everyone visiting the welcome center. read more

We've stopped at many rest stops across the country, but this stop is one of the nicest ever. The grounds are huge with beautiful large shade trees all around. When you walk inside it's like walking into a southern home. There are several rooms with antiques, tourist information, history and memorabilia of the King, Elvis Presley. The restrooms are spotless. This has to be a must stop if you are traveling in this area. read more

This rest area should be an example and blueprint for welcome center/rest areas everywhere. Not only does it provide a place to enjoy a break from the highway, but it provides some history of the state of Mississippi and, of course, pays homage to who many would consider Mississippi's favorite son, the King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley, as well as the music and those who created it. The staff is extremely friendly and gracious, a fine example of southern hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed my stop here and this welcome center and the people who work here started my time in Mississippi on a great note. read more
