Ok, I'll bring the ending to the top. I'll be coming back for sure. The wife and I came up just to check the place out and it was both bigger and smaller than I was expecting. It essentially takes up half of Main Street. Some of the shops may not be 100% required, but it does allow for space to move around and less stepping on top of each other. I planned to just look but ended up coming home with 10 different fabrics. I'm not sure what the wife's plan was, but she came home as well. Every building we went thru, we were greeted by nice people that were nearby but not too close. Pricing was better than I was expecting. I've come across plenty of other fabrics that are more expensive in smaller quilt shops, so that was a nice surprise. read more

On several occasions my orders have not captured on my "order history". Therefore, I do not get bonus points for those orders. I have contacted their customer service by email and their response is, "here is your order number", but no tracking information. So, I just wait and wait and eventually my order is delivered. There are many other sites that do a better job. Going forward, I find what I want on MSQ website and I goggle it and order from companies that have better delivery track records. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MSQC!!! I have ordered many times, without any issues at all. The quality of their fabric is excellent for quilting. I was a beginner quilter when I discovered Jenny's YouTube videos. She gave me the courage to try various patterns. Because I could refer to the videos as I worked, it felt like Jenny was holding my hand through the process. I am especially respectful of this family owned business. I love their success story. They are a faith-filled family whom God has blessed. I would love to visit Quilt Town sometime in the future. First just about every other order has something I ordered left out. Secondly I have to constantly call because the shipping is not being removed from My bundle orders. This last and final order from Missouri Star was missing an item and the girl helping me obviously didn't not understand how the bundle works. She wanted to only refund me a partial price for the item I paid for that was left out. After back and forth several times she refunded the item price but I still had to pay the tax on that item. I have placed a lot of orders in the past but will not be ordering from Missouri Star anymore. My time is too important to have to constantly waste time on the phone because they are not handling their customers' business correctly. read more

I put in an order and 2 days later it still wasn't even cut!! was told it would take another 2 days to cut then possibly 7 more days for shipment. this company is only 12 hours from me to drive. Omg!!! I am so sorry that I did not see these reviews before I placed an order. It appears that now I'm in Missouri Star hell. I ordered pre-cuts giving them plenty of time for me to have it arrive in Oregon while I was there. I expect two days for them to get something out the door maybe three even four but I'm completely confused. I've called after five days. It looks like it's finally shipped, but it's saying it will take 11 days to get it to Oregon. It'll arrive a day after I have left. now this is where I'm really confused. It was shipped UPS. Nearly every order I place with MSQC either arrives with a missing item or the items are incorrect or the shipping charge is wrong. Although a phone call clears up the error and the item is shipped or shipping charges are reversed it is an extra step I should not have to do. My last order did not have an item that I ordered in the box. I sent an email and was told "sorry it is now out of stock" so I got a refund. I am done with them. Why place an order and wonder 'what will be in the box' when it finally arrives? I cannot image ordering something as important as a BOM and having any hopes that it would be correct especially if I were not able to immediately do the BOM. I hope Jenny sees this or is told what a mess the online ordering process has become. read more

They are the nicest big quilt company! Service is great and you can find almost everything you want or need. My local quilt store is kinda small and doesn't always have what I want. I gave myself Jenny's Christmas Box 2024 this year and loved opening a gift everyday! They weren't cheap things either. A set of glass measuring cups, 2-3 projects and a Christmas Ornament, fabric bundles & a couple of patterns that go with the fabric! I ordered one two yard cut of fabric two weeks ago. The tracking number supplied was incorrect. When I was called for assistance I was told "the shipper must have damaged the label or lost my package". The lady then told me "I was in luck" that more of the fabric I ordered was available for them to send a replacement. Luck?? Are you kidding? I expect much better services than for someone to blame someone else and delay my order. I ordered more fabric in this line from other sources with no issues whatsoever - this is a great inconvienence as I still don't have the fabric and I won't make my deadline. I have ordered many items in the past, but I will not be ordering from MSQ in the future. I ordered 4.5 yards of flannel fabric to back a quilt, I received a little over 2 yards. Charged for the full amount, no notice about the shortage. And when I discovered the shortage, it was 5 PM on a Friday, so you cannot phone them, I sent several messages via their website and email. Monday I received an email stating that the fabric is out of stock. How in the world did that shortage get shipped and the full amount charged? Unfortunately, I am under a time crunch so it is really messing me up, I will need to scramble to find a substitute and finish the quilt. They said they would refund me or I could order something else. HOW DID YOU CHARGE ME FOR MY FULL ORDER IN THE FIRST PLACE? I am sad to unsubscribe, I just cannot trust such poor quality control. Not to mention that they can take your money 24 hours a day, but you cannot contact customer service after 5 PM or on the weekends. So disappointing. read more

I am done being ripped off by MSQC. MSQC posts sales that are not sales at all and clearly they think regular customers are not tracking prices. I and others have been discussing how MSQC has gotten very expensive, too expensive, service is not what it used to be and shipping is a crap shoot. I use to buy some of their name brand products but their prices have gone up too much. Today, part of their "black Friday" sale includes a very plain MSQC T-shirt that is marked on sale for I kid you not, 5 cents off as clearance. The regular price says $26. The sale price is $25.95..that's straight up insulting. Shoppers are more intelligent than the "brains" at MSQC seems to think. read more

While they have a great selection, good prices and initial order tracking was awesome, but then they use FedEx Economy Ground for shipping. I placed the order on 6/15/25, it was received by FedEx on 6/16/25 and as of 6/25/25 my package has been sitting in a FedEx warehouse since 6/19/25 (6 days of no movement). Other companies use UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage which is much more reliable and quicker. For comparison, I placed orders with other companies at the same time from even further away and the packages arrived within 5 days of placing the order. Actually being able to track the package was a chore as my order on the website did not have any way to see a tracking number or see who the carrier was. I only had a tracking number from an email. They have since updated the website to be able to click track. FedEx can't provide me updates because of the type of shipping only the shipper can contact FedEx about the package. As a small business owner, I'm very disappointed in the shipping and tracking from Missouri Star. Items in this order were for one of my own orders and this has now caused a significant delay in my ability to process my own orders for my customers. I spoke with customer service and they only things they can do is apologize, and re-issue the order or refund, but not until after 12...12!! days have passed. I don't know if I will be ordering from this company in the future after this poor experience with shipping. read more

I subscribed to their Magic Garden Block of the Month. So far, I have received 4 (yes 4!!) of the first Month Block 1 and have been charged for all 4!! I have contacted their customer service and was sent a label to send back one of the Month Block 1 - no mention of a refund. I look at my orders and they are sending me ANOTHER Month Block 1. Beware of placing an order with them. They used Amazon gor delivery. They said that they delivered it, but it wasn't on my steps where they said it was. They also never informed me that it had been delivered. I filed a police report about the item being stolen like they asked me to, but now they won't answer my emails asking them about it. I have made purchases online from Missouri Star Quilt Co. (and had good experiences), but I got the chance to actually VISIT Quilt Town, USA in Hamilton, Missouri IN PERSON this past weekend! The 7 hour trip from Indiana was well worth it and it was so cool to actually SEE the town that I had been hearing about since I started quilting. I can say that this 'pilgrimage' was extra cool as I got to share the experience with 2 friends who also quilt. We decided on and purchased a pattern and decided to do our own 'quilt along' at home - and set out to find our own fabric choices at all of the Missouri Star Quilt Co. shops to make the shared pattern our own. I totally fangirled out when I got to see all of the quilts on display as I remembered watching each YouTube tutorial and Triple Play as the lovely Doan crew was creating them. There are quilts EVERYWHERE (squeal!) and seeing them in person sparked our creative plans that much more. Each quilt on display was labeled with the pattern used to create it and had a piece of muslin attached to the back explaining the fabrics used, completed size, and date that it was created via YouTube tutorial, etc. LOVED it! Quilt Town re-opened in May after being shut down for over a year, and it was not crowded at all during our visit. We were there for 3 hours on Friday before closing time at 5pm and all day Saturday (9a-5p) and got the chance to visit all of the shops in town - some of them multiple times! Of note, there are some new non-MSQCo pop-up shops in town in place of some of the 'themed' shops on the website (Wool & Primitive) - and these pop-ups were super cute as well! To recap, we visited the Main Shop, Mercantile, Florals, Batik Boutique, Sew Seasonal, Backings & Trims, Machine Shed, Modern, Licensed to Sew, Kids & Baby, and Penney's Quilt Shop (MSQCo) and also enjoyed Nancy's Notions, Let's Make Art, and One Big Happy Yarn Co. (all pop ups with plans for permanent space in the works) and enjoyed them ALL! Group favorites were the Modern shop, Licensed to Sew, and Penney's Quilt Co. (the BEST solids and pre-cuts). Each shop had a clearance section with bolts of fabric for $6 a yard (1 yard minimum cuts) - which was great. Fat quarters were also in each store and were $2 - $2.50! Prices per yard for the other bolt fabric offerings were also VERY reasonable ($10.45 for most and just a little more for batiks). We liked that we didn't feel prices were raised just because of the novelty of being THERE in the town. Of note, we also did not feel that we just saw 'repeats' of fabrics we could get at home. The offerings were fresh! The daily deal offered via their email list online was also available in the Main store - super easy to access. EVERY employee in every shop we encountered was SO nice and willing to help. At times, there was only one person cutting and checking folks out in the smaller stores, and they did a good job of juggling this tough task. I will say that it generally took a while to get fabrics cut and lines grew - as the system for recording your cuts was a bit antiquated - but it was worth it. It forced us to slow down and just enjoy the experience. We loved that there was ample seating to just chill out while friends browsed if the store was not your jam. They even have a "Man's Land" space where those not wanting to shop could relax in their own space with leather recliners, TVs, etc. A special shout out to Jerom in the Penney's Quilt store, who helped us gals so many times and remained patient with us, even getting a layer cake I needed from the warehouse for me. Like I said above, EVERY staff member we encountered was SO pleasant. We cannot to come back! read more

The experience of being able to go to the different stores was very cool. After watching MSQC's videos, it was really cool to see what they have done to help Hamilton. We parked near the main shop. I love that they will start a box for you and you can visit all the shops and drop off everything back in the box at this main store. They will ship it to your address when you are done. It takes a couple of weeks to receive the box but it's a nice option to have for people who travel. Special shout out to the yarn store. The woman who helped us was super nice and knowledgeable. Customer service is HORRIBLE! I ordered Missouri Star's Jenny's Countdown to Christmas Box so I could play along with my quilting group's daily gathering to open the gift of the day. The box arrived damaged in late October. Not only was the shipping box ripped open, but the beautiful Master Box inside was also damaged. I contacted customer service via email with attached photos as well as several comments/suggestions: a) an acknowledgment that it was the shipper's issue and that MS could get recompense from them b) a replacement box was in order c) a comparable box was OK d) store credit was OK I got no repsonse via email, but have contacted MS via phone multiple times. Phone call responses varied from - "no can do" to - being hung up on to - "What's the big deal? It is only a box to - I just placed an order for a replacement box to - I just got a special code to order you a new one. It has been almost a month (10/31 - 11/29) since this began and here is the comment when I check the status of my order online: Liquid error (snippets/account.orders line 127): invalid url. So, no box, no recompense, no follow-through by MS. I will never order anything from them online again! If I ever decide I want to make the 4-hour drive one way to visit the quaint town of Hamilton, I will try to talk to Jenny directly, because I am sure this is not what she expects from her company. read more

I love the tutorials and daily deals, but the 2 stars are for the mail-in machine quilting service. With my mom's help I finished my first "real" quilt. Excited to get it professionally quilted I sent it in the next day - April 1, 2022. It made it to MSQ April 5 (tracked) but they didn't "scan it in" until April 18. It is now June 2! And the only response from Customer Care today was that it "MAY be just another couple of weeks"! The estimate of 6-8 weeks listed on the website is not my experience. I honestly don't feel great that I'll ever get my quilt back. Makes me very sad. My advice, use a local shop for machine quilting like my mom does, she has them back in less than a week! I wish I had listened rather than saving a few bucks. I said "I can wait", but that was when I thought it would be back in less than 2 months. read more

Missouri Star quilts has turned Hamilton Mo into the quilting capital of the Midwest. The shop is spread out in multiple storefronts, encompassing almost the entire Main Street downtown area. Each shop has its own specialty theme for the fabric and there is even one storefront that has been turned into a "man cave" so guys who don't want to shop can sit in recliners and watch tv or read, play pool, etc. If you are a quilter you just HAVE to make the trip out here!! read more

This is directed at the store for yarn, One Big Happy Yarn Company: I was so disappointed to drive 3 hours to visit the yarn store that I had heard so much about to find out it was closed for inventory of the shop. I researched the Missouri Quilt website often over the last few days before I drove to the town from where I live. There was nothing on the website or the calendar on the website to indicate that the shop was closed. As sorry as I was not to be able to go to the yarn store, I am even sorrier for the shop not to have me spend money there. Yes I could order online, but I wanted to make selections in person. i ordered 2 small items on 12/3/24. They were shipped by Amazon from Hamilton to Wisconsin where they were transferred to the post office. it is suppose to be coming to North Carolina. It has not arrived yet and I messaged MSQC and the only thing they told me was what I already knew from tracking it myself. Customer service is an embarrassment. Several attempts made to determine what chemical is used on the design of their company-branded glassware. Glass had been handwashed and is now peeling/flaking off that I possibly ingested some of it. What is it made from? Their response was - what was your order number? Really?! I could have been poisoned from whatever peeled from this and they want an order number. Begs the question - what is wrong with them? This was once a 5 star business, but over the past few years the business practices have diverged from the roots. The pricing has become Joann/hobby lobby like where the prices are jacked up and then there is a 20% of "sale" which brings the price down to the same price every other quilt shop is charging. shipping is slow and package contents lacking in quality control The youtube tutorials no longer have a link to a PDF with fabric requirements and basic instructions, nope you have to pay for that now. And they charge you the equivalent of a proof read truly well written quilt pattern, which they are not. The BOM skimp on fabric, and if it is a Missouri Star pattern BOM be prepared to scratch your head as you muddle thru mistakes and unclear instructions. The website was once clean and simple and you could find exactly what you wanted, now it is a jumbled hot mess. Does the web designer even understand the products and the customer base? I think not. It's like walking into a shop where everything is thrown in a big pile in the middle of the store and you have to sift thru the pile to find what you want, no thank you. The quilting, one and done on that. It was not the best of experiences. i suspect the original founders have stepped away from the day to day business and non-family members are taking the company in another direction. It's sad to see this one stellar company degrading. I'd suggest fatquarter shop or stitchinheaven for BOM both provide ample fabric and excellent instructions. read more

Products are fine, service is terrible.... I have ordered products from MSQC on multiple occasions. My biggest complaint is how SLOW order processing is. In this day and age you can't expect to have repeat customers if they have to wait over a week for an item to ship. This kind of customer service is just not viable in today's economy. We don't live in 1980 any more. Their quilting services are great, also... EXCEPT... the amount of time it takes to get a completed quilt without having to spend the extra money for expedited services. I waited 9 weeks for a quilt to be completed. The website said 6 to 8. I contacted them at 9 weeks and they immediately got started on it. I wonder how long I would have had to wait if I hadn't been a 'squeaky' wheel? WILL NOT ORDER AGAIN (: Waited for the Daily Deal to place my order and after 14 days, two UN-answered emails, checked my bank and sure enuf, they'd taken the money TWO WEEKS ago and not shipped! I called and said, if not shipped by end of day was filing a complaint. Promptly refunded my money but NO DAILY DEAL! The whole reason I ordered from them! Smells a lot like BAIT AND SWITCH. Grrrr. Took almost 5 weeks to receive item. I could see via tracking it was stuck in transit. My requests for help were answered by a chat bot that kept saying the package was on the way. After 4 weeks the chat bot acknowledged there was a problem and was going to have someone look into it. Magically the package started to move. By the time I recd the package I could no longer complete the project in time. Returned for refund. They didn't reimburse initial or return shipping, so I'm out $20, gas to the post office, and 5 weeks of my time with nothing to show for it. My return reached them in 3 business days via USPS ground (the slowest and least expensive shipping option), yet when they sent the package to me it took 5 weeks. No human from the company ever reached out to me to show concern, offer an explanation, or apologize. Horrible experience. read more
