I was thrilled the first time, the second time and the third timeI went to Mist. After that I noticed a difference in the attitude of the technician I had (same tech every time) and his associates. Had a terrible experience here today and would not recommend to anyone. I got a regular manicure and pedicure and it took 2.5 hours. They put so many coats of polish on my manicure that it looked super bubbly and creased. When I pointed it out, she kept adding more polish on top which kept exacerbating the problem. Every single nail has a creased, textured look to it. The shape and length of my nails are all super uneven as well. About an hour after I left, I noticed one of my nails was totally broken and it was not that way when I arrived. The pedicure seemed to be going fine but it's only been a couple of hours since my pedicure and both of my big toes are chipped already. As I explained to the front desk person that I was unhappy and was about to leave, they came running over to me and told me that they forgot to charge me $5 for the polish that I chose. They charged me an additional $5 after I had already paid and had explained I was unhappy with the service. It's been a few hours since my manicure and pedicure and I have a broken nail, two chipped toes, and totally creased / crinkled and uneven nails. Absolutely would not recommend to anyone! read more

Very relaxing pedicure. Salon was quiet and clean and the chairs were super comfortable - more like a couch than a pedicure chair! Edited my review after the manicure. The manicure itself was fine. Nothing special, but fine. Filed and shaped my nails and cleaned up my cuticles. The issue was with the polish job! I showed a pic of a design I wanted and they said they could do it. Great. Well, they couldn't actually do it. Two people tried and I am pretty sure my 12 year old niece could have done a better job. For starters, the salon is super nice and modern. I've been coming here for a fee months now and have always had good service. I read a lot of reviews on yelp saying they were treated poorly and the management was very unprofessional - I've never once experienced that so don't let those reviews keep you from trying the salon! David does the best gel manicures. I try to go on a Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid the crowd. I'm in an out in an hour. I've tried going on s Friday after work; they were packed and told me to come back in 2 hours. I did and 2 hours really meant 2 hours which was s pleasant surprise. They have the best pedicure couches here! You get your own little sofa, so comfy. They only have about 5 of them so if you going during a busy time you're bound to wait. read more

I've been to mist several times and I will no longer be going. While they do a nice powder manicure I'm always waiting 20-30 minutes. And they ALWAYS--ALWAYS take someone who's come in after me first. I always make an appointment in advance and this happens every time. If I could give this place a zero I would. To start we walked in and they were instantly rude they just told us to have a seat in a rude tone and didn't even greet us. Then second they are absolutely overpriced for their horrible work and do not deserve the money that they earned. I got a refill on my acrylics and they came out horrible my friend also got new acrylics and they also came out horrible they are too wide and uneven. They also cut her with the drill multiple times in different sections and caused bleeding. To stop the bleeding the lady put nail glue over it which can cause infection.. Dirty, sloppy, messy. Old polish. No OPI or Essie gel, just a bunch of brands I've never heard of. Shellac was hidden in a cabinet and probably very old. I asked for a gel brand that had a match for pedicure; any color I picked they could not find the match for. I finally just asked for a simple pink...as you can see in picture the pedicure color is different than gel manicure color. Didn't clean up the edges. The gel color was thick and gloppy, again, probably very old. Too many good choices in Commack to waste your time here. read more

I never write reviews, but I will today. Disgusting is all I have to say. Rude, rude, rude. If you want to be told to "shut up" by the 'owner' or told "whatever" when you're telling them that they are being unprofessional, and have a terrible job done on your nails then come here. Otherwise go somewhere else. I will not be coming back to Mist because of the 'owner' (I did not catch her name- but was told by one of the workers that he was very sorry for her behavior but that she was the owner so there was nothing he could do). I was left for 15 minutes sitting in the pedicure chair while the 'owner' started another woman's manicure who walked in before me. That was fine- I waited patiently. She then left the woman getting the manicure at the table and came to me- I assumed it was because another worker was taking over the other woman's manicure. But I was wrong. She rushed my pedicure- barely scrubbing my feet for a callus removal- there was water in the plastic bags that she put my feet in. She was rough handling my feet and legs...giving me annoyed looks when she wanted me to move. She left my toe nails with paint on them around the edges-not even trying to get it off. She left the nails not clipped properly and didn't clean under the nails. The bottom of my feet were still rough because she hardly scrubbed anything. At this time the woman she had left at the manicure table asked her to return to her as she was before me. The worker refused. I also suggested that she should go to the other lady and she refused saying her nails were soaking for gel manicure. I accepted this because that explanation made some sense even though it had been 20+minutes or so. The lady ended up walking out unhappily after a few more minutes of waiting without being tended to. She then started painting my nails over the old paint and the half done job. I asked her to go back and do a better job. She argued aggressively saying she did it already. I showed her the problems and the man worker next to her explained what to do. She angrily finished the job and then lead me to the drying table and stormed off leaving me at the table without turning on the air to dry the nails. The man apologized for her behavior and told me she would be back in a few minutes. A few minutes later she returned and stood at the counter ignoring me while I asked her to put the air on. After I said excuse me a few times while she blatantly ignored me she turned on the air and started yelling that she put it on. I told her that she was not being professional by yelling at her customers and that she should probably stop because it wasn't good for the salon. She said "whatever... shut up" and continued to yell obscenities while I walked over to another worker to tell them about her behavior. That was when the man apologized and told me that she was the owner. I dried the nails, paid and left. I am usually here every 2-3 weeks. Kylie? did a nice job on the manicure and eyebrow waxing the day before and Stephanie usually does a nice job too. But I won't return. read more

Not mist??? I went there a few months ago for my sisters birthday. It was our first time going to this salon so obviously we didn't know it was new management. One of my moms friends was talking to my mom about how she comes here all the time but did not recognize a single worker. Obviously there is nothing wrong with new management, but they were lying to customers calling the salon asking for a certain lady. They kept saying she's on vacation even though my moms friend knew it was new management. They told us acrylics were $50 but after we got them done they said it was $100 each. My mom received a pedicure from a different worker and she asked for French with a black tip instead of a white one. He painted her nails white and drew a black tip on top. I went to Mist for the first time this August for a manicure and pedicure, and I will not be returning. This salon's decor and ambiance are pleasing but the quality of their workmanship and the assembly line feeling of their service reminded me of the $8 manicure salons in the City. Besides my French manicure chipping and cracking within 2 days after my appointment and my pedicure looking like I did it myself, they barely cleaned my cuticles and I actually felt cheated when I was paying. Also, my entire appointment lasted less than an hour which is pretty short for a mani-pedi - even for a standard mani-pedi appointment. I always go out of my way to support small businesses - especially women-owned small businesses - but, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Mist. read more
