Alyssa, It's disheartening to hear from you only now--after…read morea public review. On a public forum? Where was this responsiveness when our family reached out repeatedly while my mother was still alive? Shame on you, Stephanie, and the staff member who refused to let me have even five quiet minutes alone with my mother. "Disappointing" doesn't begin to describe the pain and frustration we still feel. We made multiple attempts to contact you--through calls, messages, and requests for meetings--all ignored. Touchmark headquarters directed us to you and Stephanie for help, yet we received no response from you and no meaningful response from Stephanie. Stephanie eventually returned one call but never followed up as promised. Still waiting! My mother loved our visits. The real problem stemmed from her POA, whose actions restricted our visits. Your inaction led to countless lost moments--especially in her final days. When she was in the hospital and rehab, communication at those locations were open and respectful. Sadly, her time in memory and hospice care at Touchmark was the complete opposite. It breaks my heart that I was denied those final minutes alone with her. To ask US to "reach out now," after so many ignored attempts, feels deeply insincere. I share this not to argue, but to ensure no other family experiences the same lack of compassion and communication that we did.

With that kind of experience, I can say this company at its heart is doing the right thing. There's something to be said for being owned & operated by itself - when you don't have to be tied to big corporate places, you listen to your people. My grandmother-in-law and family was very happy with Touchmark always something interesting to do - WAYYY more than just bingo! Since she was independent living, it was important to have things that were creative and added to her life and they did! As far as an employee, well just look at my employee meal today -- yummy! Honestly, I know that CNA's/nursing and dining is hard, balancing employee needs and resident needs - plus I see managers here working right along with the team to help, but when you go to the other places in town you realize quite quickly the grass is not greener, I have never been happier to be at Touchmark. (Not to say anything bad about the competition) but wow - when you have a support staff with 2 RN's, 3 LPN's, 2 care managers plus a director of nursing -- wow that is amazing!! Plus, a maintenance team of 6+ people a life enrichment team of 6+ people - that is just incredible support to the employees and to the residents. There are people to support 7 days a week! The residents are so incredibly appreciative of all of us - they actually gave the front-line employees over $100,000 for an appreciation fund ... my goodness, some of the staff got well over $1,200 for Christmas this year unexpectedly. It was humbling to see that kind of generosity and appreciation from the residents!

If I could give this place a negative score I definitely would. Residents crying in their rooms,…read moreone resident was crying in her doorway and nobody came. I went and informed someone at he front desk and they went to check on her. She's in a wheel chair and it turns out her belt was so tight it was cutting into her belly. The neglect of my father when he was there for 2 days caused such a rapid decline that he ended up rushed by ambulance back to hospital. He was supposed to be on oxygen and when a PA came in to check on him the 3 rd morning his oxygen was off and he was being given room air! The PA asked WHO PUT HIM ON ROOM AIR AND WHY?! We nearly lost our dad due to complete negligence. NEVER EVER take someone you love to this horrible facility!!!

The next week his weight dropped down to 115lbs and you could see his bones in his back, chest, arms and legs. I was also told that he quit eating, was not taking his meds and was not responding to questions. Unfortunately even though he had been so sick for the last 2 weeks in January the staff never asked the doctor to see my husband or thought to have him sent to the ER. Fortunately by the time I found out he was sick I was able to request the doctor see my husband asap, they then ran blood work and everything turned out pretty normal. I am also his POA so I requested the dr see him again due to his symptoms and the only thing the the PA could determine was he was very dehydrated, so they put him on fluids and we tried that for a two days. I finally decided since he was not getting any better he need to go to the ER. The hospital ER did a series of test including a chest X-ray, which showed up positive for pneumonia. The doctor told me how sick he was when he came into the cER. He could possibly recover, but probably not returned to his base line, we might need to get hospice involved or since he is so sick he may die. The nursing home does not admit any responsibility in this. While they do have a few good RN's and CNA's the management does not take any accountability. If you have a loved one you may want to seriously consider places like Rennes or St Paul's.
