Last month, before embarking on an 11-hour trip through the desert on our way to Los Angeles, I stopped by Mitchel's in Silver City to drop off my Ram Promaster campervan. Its engine "runs hot," even though it doesn't register a high-temperature on the dashboard thermometer. These Promasters have a reputation for running hot, but risking a stall-out in the desert was intimidating. Not only did the mechanics at Mitchel's squeeze me in for a pre-trip checkup, they took my Promaster for a test drive, & afterwards assured me that all was well under the hood. When it came time to pay the bill, they floored me when they said "No charge--there was nothing wrong." So I promised then to bring the campervan back when its next tuneup is due--and I'm happy to report that we made the desert crossing in 109-degree heat with not the slightest problem. Many thanks! I was driving from western Michigan to southern Arizona(25+hrs ) pulling a small utility trailer my 2017 Highlander waterpump failed between LasCruces and Deming. I was able to make to Mitchels who immediately took the time , with another mechanic ,to diagnose the issue. Unfortunately the part needed to be shipped next day . It was received and repaired on time. Mitchel made a nerve racking experience easy. He suggested a motel, restaurants and the car was repaired as promised. They provided polite ,professional and reasonably priced service getting me back on the road. My wife and I were driving from Richmond, Virginia to Tucson, Arizona when I came to Mitchels because the "splash shield" on my wife's 2017 Ford Escape was damaged and scraping under the front end. The fellas immediately brought the car into a bay and put it up on a lift. The plastic shield was too badly damaged to re-attach properly, so they suggested I just have them remove it so it wouldn't make any more trouble. But when they removed it they found a lot of oil. They reckoned I had a leak, but they couldn't find it. Then one of them had an idea. They lowered the car and popped the hood. There it was: the oil dipstick had not been properly seated. We had the oil changed just the week before back in Richmond, and it's pretty clear that the people who did that job didn't put the dipstick back right. They checked the dipstick and there was barely any oil left. Then the guys at Mitchels looked under a cover on the top of the engine where they found a bunch of dead leaves soaked in oil. This could have easily started a fire. The oil change guys in Richmond hadn't looked under that cover. The guys at Mitchel's powerwashed the oil from the top of the engine and changed the oil. Their attention and high quality practice saved us from having the oil run dry and ruin the engine and may have also prevented an engine fire. read more

We were traveling from TX to CA with our travel trailer, 2 kids and dog, when the check engine light on our 2022 Ram 2500 turned on. Found Mitchel's, who was closing in 10 min and we were 15 minutes out. Mitch answered and said he'd check it out and to come by. Within 5 minutes from arriving, Mitch ran a diagnostic test, luckily it was nothing serious just an emissions error. He stated it was nothing that would put us on the side of the road and to make an appt with a dealership to resolve the issue. He sent us on our way without charging us for his time. We started hearing a noise toward the rear of our 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. It was very loud and I was concerned that something was going to cause a breakdown. Oh man!!! Where do I start!! At 7am our car engine caught fire and seized on the freeway. AAA brought us to Mitchels Auto. Jeremy and one of his great mechanics made sure that the car got looked at as soon as we got dropped off. He let us know just how bad it was. Our 5 year old daughter was so excited to go to Disneyland, this was so scary for her and she was crying. We used Mitchels Auto Service and Repair when we first moved to Deming in February of 2021. The transmission was acting up on our SUV. The transmission had to be replaced. This company uses only top of the line Jasper transmissions. We were very pleased with that. It is difficult to find companies that deal in Jasper engines and transmissions. The work was done in a timely manner and the price was where it should of been. We were very satisfied. Recently we were having problems with a car overheating. They found it was a simple fix and had the car back to us the same day. Again, the price was very good. We plan on using Mitchels Auto Service and Repair for all of our future car needs. read more

My husband and I are so grateful to Mitchel and Jeremy. We are driving my PT Cruiser from L.A. to our new home in FL. We paid an auto shop in L.A. over $1,200 to make my car "perfect" for the cross country drive. It turns out they forgot to tighten the tie rod bolt and they stripped the lug nuts on our tires. worst place to take a veicle, lug nuts were loose after leaving there and they cross threaded my bolts on the skid plate. 30 min job took 3 hours and dude was dumb as a box of rox when i asked him questions bout my veicle. tire preasure was left 70 psi on the left front tire and 25 on the rear ones. dont go there if u like yer veicle! read more

I was on my 2,600 mile road trip to my new base (military move) across the country, hauling my travel trailer, and on a time crunch, when my power steering pump decided to crap the bed. On 05/01/14, I experienced steering trouble with my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo while enroute from California to the East Coast. Unable to continue in my travel, I began calling local auto repair shops for diagnostic advice and availability. C&C Tire and Auto Center was the only auto shop out of 6 available for same-day diagnostic inspection &/or repair in the Deming, NM area. Originally, I thought it was a faulty power steering pump. I researched online the average labor + parts involved (~$350-525). On initial inspection, mechanic (Mitch) agreed that the power steering pump seems like the likely culprit. However, on closer inspection only the power steering pulley was faulty. Unfortunately, this specific part was not in-stock at the nearest Jeep dealership and rush mail delivery would take 3-4 days minimum. However, Mitch went above-and-beyond by calling all the local area auto parts stores until an aftermarket replacement was found. In terms of cost, $23.76 for parts + $80 for labor (totaling $119.35). In terms of honesty and time saved, priceless. I was shown both the crack power steering pulley wheel and the replacement receipt from the parts store. Too, I was quite impressed that Mitch passed on their O'Reily Auto Part's discounted price to me. Normally, this is something reserved exclusively for the financial benefit of the auto shop! Moreover, Mitch delayed his noon lunch break until 1pm to make timely repairs so that I could continue my travels without further delay. Further, I received both excellent customer service from Irene Chavez and the 'Protection Plus National Service Warranty (12 months / 12,000 miles) on both parts + labor - at no extra charge. In conclusion, I highly recommend C & C Tire and Auto Center. They run a Top-Notch, honest business ...2 Thumbs Up!! read more

I had to stop here twice when traveling from out of town to Silver City. The first time they were too busy, but kindly directed me to several other nearby auto shops. I had some work done but still had issues so came back to Mitchel's a few days later for their opinion on my engine issue. They helped me right away, even though I didn't have an appointment and came during lunch-time. They were patient in explaining their findings to me, how the other shop had incorrectly assessed the issue, and ordered the new parts I needed. I was happy with the service and was able to get home safely and haven't had an issue since. I should note they were working on my VW Tiguan - not all shops will work on German cars, so it can be difficult when you encounter issues and are traveling through an unfamiliar area. So we were on our way home back to Austin, TX after a 9 day Spring Break road trip through New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. We pulled into Deming, NM and noticed our diesel Excursion was running a bit hotter than normal. Since we were towing a travel trailer and still had 10 hours to go, we decided to find a mechanic that could look at our truck. Unfortunately it was Saturday afternoon and every shop we called was closed or couldn't help us because it was a diesel. Mitchel's was also closed but Mitch answered anyways and told us he couldn't help until Monday morning, that was the best offer we'd gotten, the so we were stranded until then (Luckily we had our trailer to stay in). Monday rolled around, we showed up right at 8am, Mitch was there and immediately had his Diesel mechanic, Jeremy attend to us. We discussed possible options after a test drive, fortunately they were able to get the parts needed and in roughly 3 hours our truck was ready to go and working as it should. I can't thank this shop enough for fitting us in first thing and getting us back on the road, especially with a diesel, powerstrokes aren't the easiest to work on. Mitchel is a very good, kind, efficient mechanic. We had a kitten crawl into the dash and behind the radio. Mitchel and his mechanics worked very quickly and efficiently, taking the dash apart, to rescue the kitten with as little expense as possible. He could have taken much longer and charged us exorbitantly, but he didn't, even though we were 2 women traveling alone. The receptionist even brought a can of tuna for the traumatized and very hungry kitten. If I lived near Deming, he would be my regular mechanic. I highly recommend Mitchels shop. read more

We have an Mitsubishi eclipse, it is 15 years old, my alternator was going out, I ordered the part from Auto Zone it took 2 days to get it , picked it up made an appt. With Mitchell's. They found out when the check engine light came on it needed oxygen sensor replaced, along with the oil leak which the timing belt and seals also needed to be replaced, we are so thankful to Mitchell, and especially Jeremy that did the work! They did a great job quoted us within what they had said! Our car is 15 years old with 78,000 on it. Thanks to them we will be able to keep it longer now. We will go to them with both cars, when they need anything! If you want a great professional job done don't hesitate, they do great work, and prices are also good! read more

A week before 6/29/15 we took our truck in to see Mitch about diagnosing our a.c. He discovered the pump was leaking and had to put in 30 ounces of Freon. We hoped that the a.c. would continue working for at least one week because it was recommended that we replace the unit. I do have some knowledge of ac's and his diagnosis was and is correct. We made an appointment to come in on the 29th and have the unit replaced. They gave us a quote of $600 to $800 at that time. Mitch also stated it would take about 4 hours. We brought it in at 8 am and drove it out at 12:15 pm. The price quote we got before leaving the truck was low end of $625. The pump was around $350 and the work was around $275 including Freon. He actually had reduced the price because we had service done before. We highly recommend C&C Auto for their efficiency, politeness and lack of price gouging.
