Today I came across the bus service provided by region eat and took it, mostly because it was the next in terms of scheduled departure time. And what a great surprise!!! Great new bus with on board entertainment (movies, tv, music) as well as free hot beverages served by friendly staff (speaking English). Free wifi also available for free! When I landed in Vienna, I head towards the Airport Services (the company that runs it) They had my information, and I was out of the airport. When I took the return cab. The driver was early. Overall, the cab is clean and the drivers were cool. The cost is 29 Euro one way. This would be a good option. I was told if I took a local cab. It will cost more than 29 Euro.

I took the red cab taxi service from Vienna airport into the city, traveling with a toddler and a…read moresmall child. I booked two car seats for the kids and my booking was confirmed quickly. On arrival, there was only a car seat for the toddler and the driver did not know how to install it, suggesting that it was perfectly ok for the car seat not to be installed while the toddler was traveling in it. We had an argument about this and I had to install the seat myself which took half an hour as it was an unusual model and the straps were all twisted and had to be taken out and put back in the right way. In the end the toddler traveled safely but the five year old rode into Vienna without a car seat which is illegal in Austria but the driver was not willing to obtain another seat from the office. I phoned the head office and complained but they did not feel this was a major issue and just said that this happened to be one of their less popular drivers. I am not sure why Austrian Airlines recommends this service. I would not use it again.

But it's nice, and clean! Signs are easy to read, the walking distances between subway lines isn't too far. They broadcast announcements clearly, and there are maps on the trains. Everything was well lit, clean, and easy to navigate! I especially liked the ease of getting tickets from the kiosks, available in a myriad of languages. Just remember to validate your ticket if you use it later. Unfortunately, you can't drink beer on the subway here in Vienna. Hmph.
