Overall: 4 stars Yet another fascinatingly creative restaurant on the Michelin list. I stopped by for a light lunch and was relatively happy with my meal, aside from some sus discolored tuna. The menu sounds super interesting and there are a lot more eyebrow raising items. I appreciated that the staff did their due diligence regarding my dairy intolerance as well. (Tuna Ceviche: C) - Beautiful plate of food that was overshadowed by the grey nature of the tuna that I should've sent back since it was high key sus. I'm still not convinced watermelon flesh should be served not as is as the texture is otherwise a bit unpleasant, but the broth is freshing and vibrant and that component makes for a good dish. (Miso Carrot: A+) - Beautiful dish that any plant-based diet individual would be lucky to enjoy. The carrots are thinly peeled and wrapped into a divine layered rose and roasted to have crispiness on the outside while maintaining warm comfort on the interior. The puree adds a touch of creaminess, while the miso sauce adds a layer of saline complexity. Food: E Presentation: +1 Price: E Atmosphere: E Service: +1 Menu: +1 Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

After three days eating my way through Porto, Mito wins for "best lunch." Usually a hard-to-get-a-reservation dinner spot, go for their lunch menu. Usually, there are two tables saved for walk-ins. The lunch menu is small with a soup, a few main dishes, a few desserts and a drink menu. For 12 Euros I ordered the sweet potato soup (the "soup of the day"), risotto and pavlova. Before my food came out, three warm slices of bread with salted butter on a black plate came out. Every dish was well presented, tasty, and made me want more. So good! They also have two kinds of infused water (I ordered four glasses of passion fruit) and a wine list. For an extra 4 Euros, I got the table white. Local, it was very crisp and refreshing. The space itself is beautiful and the service is kind and efficient despite being under staffed and busy.

We made a reservation, which we were grateful for as they were turning parties away without ones even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. We each opted for cocktails. I thought mine was ok. Hard to really compare to the ones I had in Lisbon. They recommended 3-4 plates for the table. 1) Sweet potatoes: 4/5 - very elegantly presented, cooked well, but didn't really have a unique taste. 2) Mushrooms: 4/5 - very fresh, but I can't really remember if I really enjoyed it or not and it's been less than a week. So probably good but not memorable. 3) Shrimp and monkfish rice: 4.5/5 - the taste was beyond amazing!!!! But the rice was under cooked and I felt like they skimped on the shrimps. It only came with two pieces but went overboard with the monkfish. Definitely a place to try once if you're visiting.

I'm going to leave this review short and sweet for now. This is one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had. The food was fantastic. The ambiance was beautifully subtle. The service was unparalleled, each person that we interacted with was excited about the food and drinks.

Mito was the first spot I chose for dinner on a trip to Portugal back in September. All these months later I vividly remember, and desperately miss, the taste of the food I ate here. We ate phenomenal food on this trip, including a few Michelin starred restaurants, and Mito still stands strongly as my favorite. First, they get huge points for having reservations available a few days out. Portugal, yes the entire country, was inundated with tourists while we were there. Every restaurant was seemingly booked months in advance for every day of the week. Mito somehow flew under the radar, it was packed while we were there, but I think it's relatively new, so not as well known. Every thing we ate, down to that bowl of tomatoes, was exceptionally prepared and packed with flavor. I don't think Mito has a Michelin star, but, if they keep this up, they'll get one in no time. It seems like they switch up their menu, so your choices may differ from ours, but try the Ribeye and Sea Bass if they offer them. We had those options multiple times on our trip, they always tasted great, but nowhere did it better than Mito. Don't skip out on Mito just because you likely won't see it on restaurant recommendation lists, it is 1000% worth a visit. Whenever I return to Portugal, I'll be sure to book a reservation at Mito first and foremost.

Great food. Took 5 different sharing dishes and each one was excellent. Well prepared with a distinct taste. The service was very good too.
