MEGA-PROUD ADDLED-BRAIN CHECKOUT STAFF!!!
This M10 Mega deserves NEGATIVE 5 STARS!!! The helpfulness and professionalism of the Ground Staff (technical) is largely undone/damaged by the arrogant attitude of the young Pakeha student at the checkout (cashier) counter.
Yesterday, I received a call from the M10 Albany Manager apologising for the mistake of their checkout staff, returning my $10 cash change and offering a $20 Store Credit voucher for the young Pakeha's absolute blunder.
I bought an item worth $10 and gave the young Pakeha (P1) $20 in cash and asked her if she could also change my $5 coins into a $5 paper bill. She opened the till, gave me a $5 paper bill, then left and answered a phone call. I looked at my Mitre 10 receipt, it says my cash was $20 and the change was $10. So I asked her why she never gave me my $10 change but only gave me $5 paper bill which was in exchange for my $5 coins. This young Pakeha student (P1) with her youthful bravado erroneously said, "I gave you your $10 change!" I even asked her to replay their video security footage to confirm whether she gave me my change or not. While I was explaining that she gave me only $5, she immediately left and colluded with another young Pakeha student (P2) and they asked a third 40-50 year old Pakeha guy (P3) and started colluding amongst themselves giving me a "SUSPICIOUS ACCUSATORY SWINDLING LOOK".
All 3 Pakehas came up to me, young Pakeha 2 apologised and asked for my name and details so they can sort it out and Pakeha 3 asked if I have a Visa or MasterCard credit card to sort out the change. While I was giving my details to young Pakeha 2, MEGA ADDLED-BRAIN young Pakeha 1 AGAIN with MUCH BRAVADO and PRIDE erroneously butted-in and told me with an "ACCUSATORY SWINDLING LOOK", "I AM SURE I GAVE YOU YOUR CHANGE! So I told her, "YOU ARE WRONG!" three times and walked out of the premises to get some air.
This proud young Pakeha (P1) NEVER even considered that she might be wrong and was not content to insinuate that I was trying to hoodwink the store, but DID IT TWICE to prove how RIGHT SHE IS (erroneously of course!), hence MEGA PROUD ADDLED-BRAIN STAFF!
I called M10 yesterday and asked for the Manager of young Pakeha (P1) as I wish to file a formal complaint against her MEGA ADDLED-BRAIN BLUNDER and her HIGHLY JUDGMENTAL UNPROFESSIONAL "ACCUSATORY" HUMILIATING ATTITUDE. After 30 mins, M10 gave me a call to say that their till is in excess of $10 two days ago (Monday) and I can now collect the $10 change from their store. I told them they made a mistake, they can sort it out themselves and I am not going to the store to collect the change.
Mitre10 charges 10-20% more than Bunnings. Even Mitre10 employees are aware of that! With their higher prices and BAD CHECKOUT customer services, who wants to buy and suffer to be HUMILIATED??? I will never buy from this store again because of their BAD CHECKOUT STAFF! As for their $20 Store Credit Voucher, I told her I am NOT INTERESTED and she can give it to the judgmental accusatory young proud (BUT VERY, VERY FOOLISH) Pakeha (P1)!
On another note, Bunnings employees are always happy, helpful and professional, even when there's a misunderstanding, I NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF ACCUSATION and HUMILIATION! M10 often has a serious, grumpy demeanour among their staff. Their employees aren't happy and it reflects on how they treat their customers.
Bunnings employees are always cheerful and professional (not perfect) but they definitely deal with their customers better. They are 80-90% better than Mitre 10 when it comes to employees' attitude! Bunnings definitely has better corporate culture than Mitre10 - they are treated better by their management! Bunnings' prices are lower and they absolutely give better services than Mitre10!
Mitre10, with your overpriced items over Bunnings, can't you get a better checkout staff for the 10-20% overpriced items you charge your customers? read more
