Horrible! Not fresh food... you take away or sit at dirty tables outside without service. You have to tell the cashier what you want and then go to the case and show your receipt to pick it out. Then they give you food that has been sitting in a case all day, if you're lucky they warm it in the microwave (mine they gave me cold!). When I got to my table to eat the food was cold and gross (cold eggplant lasagna sitting in a pool of liquid) I took it back inside and they would not give me a refund, they demanded I pick out something else from their case of stale food... Mizzica! So I kept on passing by this place On my way to the Bologna metro station and decided to try it and I was quite pleased with their product. Granite- pistachio, Limon, nocciola were all great. So refreshing after a hot day in Rome and price for a small is 2.50€ and they put a good amount so it's a pretty good price Arancino- probably their specialty, i saw several people eating it and thought maybe I should try it and I was not disappointed. The cheese was stretching for miles and we got it piping hot so it was just ah-mazinnnn molto bene! Only thing that was off was the service, we seemed to have been ignored half the time since I was just speaking English but one of the guys were very kind and the other customers were also nice. They speak English but communication was a tad difficult. We stumbled by and it happened to be their happy hour, which was 8.50 for food and a drink. I'm not sure if it was buffet style but we had a tiny plate and loaded it with one of everything. The buffet food wasn't impressive but the stuffed balls (sold separately) was worth it. I also ordered the pistachio cream puff that was fabulous. The initial plan was for gelato but we opted out. The spinach ball was perfectly cheesy and had a crispy good deep fry. Great customer service. We asked if cafe latte could be one of the drink options and there was clearly a misunderstanding. We were told yes a drink, and got charged for a cafe latte. After trying to explain the extra charge they gave us another cafe latte since we didn't get a qualifying drink. read more

Being from the US, I did not realize cannolis would not be found in Rome as cannoli is a Sicilian dessert. Mizzica has traditional Sicilian pastries and we were told has the best cannolis around the city. The cannoli was better than any I've had in the US. If you're in the area I highly recommend. It was mild and not too sweet. The pistachio chips were a nice touch. The staff did not speak english, we used some basic Italian and hand motions and were able to get what we wanted. read more

Oh my goodness! How I love and Miss this shop. Considering that Yelp Italy is only 1 week old and this neighborhood shop has 5 reviews is really impressive! Of eateries I went to while in Rome, this place by far was the best. Because they are amazing at what they do. Gelato - I threw the rule books away and had a gelato everyday. One here at night and 1 where ever I was in the day time. I had gelato at the Spanish steps (meh), Trevi Fountain, (eh) and in trastevere (hmph). I didn't even know what flavors I was ordering I just paid, got the ticket, showed up in front of the man with the scoop. (ooh, the power!) and pointed to whatever pot of gelato goodness. grazi! grazi! I wanted to try everything! (Didn't, but I'll be back!) I've had Gelato before but what made them fantastic was the texture. Right thickness, creamy and never an ice chip. Uh huh! it happened at the gelateria near the trevi fountain! And flavor!! Wow, intense! A lick and it tastes they way I dreamed it would taste. Bakery & Cafe - New word to my vocabulary.... Cornetto! I wish my italian was better so I could ask what the filling was but I just pointed and relied on luck. And what Fantastic Luck!! Cornetto is a like a croissant filled with something. One day I got sweet cheese, the next day i had a nutty filled one. I thought, maybe I should get a piccolo (small) Cornetto nah. I would wake up extra early to make time to get to this bakery for a cornetto and Cappucino. note ** THERE IS NO STARBUCKS IN ROMA** LOL and I can understand why. Their coffee was wonderful. For a Cappucino and Cornetto it was about 2 euros. Can't beat that. Mizzica!! I miss you so much! You guys started my day with a smile! A great Sicilian spot with delicious arincini!! Definitely go with their regular (meaty, saucy, cheesy) and the spinach (béchamel is involved, need I say more?). I also suggest trying their baked arincini which is different and on the lighter side (it's part arinchini part pastry). A bunch of other items to eat here too and they make a tasty and refreshing Campari spritz that you can enjoy while sitting outside in front. I liked the staff as well. Mizzica is a great concept, and can be a positive dining experience if executed correctly. Rule number one-don't get the pizza. It is floppy and weird and does Italy no justice whatsoever. Rule number two-get the arancini!!! Those delicious little morsels were so tasty and filling. Apparently it is what this spot is known for, so you can't go wrong. They are incredibly filling however and can be shared. Rule number three-don't piss off the gelato lady!!! She has the shittiest attitude ever and cursed us out in Italian for not articulating clearly enough what we wanted. Obviously there was a communication barrier, but you are in the service industry, so throwing our gelato in our faces and cursing us out is not the answer. She was a stone cold bitch and needs to know about herself. That being said, the gelato is worth a brow beating!! It is that good. Know what you want, get the right thing, avoid eye contact, and don't piss off the beast in the back, and you will survive! read more

Delicious Sicilian treats with very unique flavours and reasonable prices. Tried my first cannoli in Mizzica and it completely spoiled me. Same happened with the cassata and the babà. Highly recommend it when you are feeling like you are having a sweet tooth or you just want a calm yet lively place to have a dessert. This place has great pastries and appetizers, as well as espresso drinks and gelati. Some of the appetizers are adequate for a full meal. I recommend the arancini, especially when they just come out of the oven. This place is not touristy or over-priced, and seems to be favored by locals in the Piazza Bologna neighborhood. read more

Such a good find! Price was very reasonable and the fried risotto balls or arancini, as they are formally called, are out of this world. They have many kinds but the pistachio one was DELICIOUS. We came back a second time just for them but they were sold out:( The chicken arancini and the ragu' arancini were great too. They had a pistachio desert cake thing that was delightful as well. Every one of the deserts look amazing. All locals were present at this gem when we visited twice so it's definitely not a tourist trap. They speak just enough English to understand what you want but definitely but not perfect English like a place that caterers to tourists. It was close to our hotel and we found it on Yelp. We wanted something quick and easy, not a table service type of place, and that's what we got but so much more. Plenty of room to find a seat once you pay at the counter and take your food/drink.
