There were no tables available when we arrived, but we figured the wait might be worth it. **It absolutely was.** While we waited, they offered us some wine and a little bite--almost like a small pastry filled with cheese and tomato--which was such a thoughtful touch and made the wait feel effortless. Once seated, we ordered more wine along with two Roman classics: **Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara.** The **Cacio e Pepe** was exactly what we hoped for: beautifully creamy, cheesy, and well balanced without feeling overly heavy or greasy. The pepper came through nicely, complementing the richness of the cheese rather than overpowering it. The **Carbonara** was equally impressive. The pasta had that wonderful fresh, silky texture, the sauce was rich and intensely cheesy, and the pancetta was perfectly crispy and salty. I was seated in walk way area and it was a bit busy with people going in and out of restrooms. Ordered Carbonara, Genovese and Aperitivo. I had Carbonara for the first time and I m not a big fan of it. I have to try it again to make sure if it's me or the way the dish taste. Genovese was ok, beef stew was inside of a bread. Aperitivo, I chose spritz which came with refreshing cocktails and three little fried pizza. Overall the food tasted acceptable but wait time for Cabonara was long. It must have been like 30 minutes. Street Osteria with aperitivo and sandwiches and pastas. We were there for Aperitivo but ended ordering Saccoccia- "Genovese" (stew beef). It is a Sicilian type of bread that resembles a rolled-up pizza or pouch that filled with stew beef. Beef was tender with good flavor from stew that was soaked with meat juices by the bread. And we also ordered Carbonara- tonnarelli pasta was cooked to al dente with eggs sauce and pig cheeks and pecorino cheese. It was delicious with good seasonings. Aperitivo was nothing special though. Same as other places I have tried. This was a good dinner with small portions that filled up well at night. Service was fast and easy to order. It was crowded during dinner time so must be good for a reason. They were playing music inside and people were chatting and eating. 4.5 stars! Ce Stamo a Pensa is a tiny, narrow restaurant offering a menu of Neapolitan street food! The best way I can describe the dish called Saccoccia is a "pita sandwich" filled with Italian ingredients. We tried several different fillings including Genovese di Manzo (stewed beef), Trippa alla Romana (tripe in tomato sauce), and my favorite, the Parmagiana, made of smokey eggplant and cheese baked in a tomato sauce. The Saccoccia came with grated pecorino cheese on the side, which made for a nice seasoning, and we also ordered a dish of Scarola, or escarole cooked with olives and pine nuts, which made for a tasty vegetal side dish. They had a 4 montanare (little pizzettes) + drink special that we took advantage of, but the food was so good that we decided to stay a little longer and order some saccoccias (small pita sandwiches). For our very first meal in Rome, we made our way to Ce Stamo a Pensá. A small little shop down an inconspicuous alley, there isn't a whole lot of room inside. But what they lack in size, they make up for in flavor and value. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. We split an arancini and a panini. Both were absolutely phenomenal and full of flavor. I would absolutely return here to try some of their other pasta and menu items. This place is a solid 4 star restaurant. The food was authentically Italian. I ordered the regular spaghetti & meatball and one of the small pizzas. For the entree, the meatballs were homemade and had a good balance. The small pizza was pretty solid as well. The only issue was the wait time, since there was always a line, you should be prepare to wait. The ambience is not a great sit down restaurant. They only have about a dozen bar stools and that's about it. The services does not have any waiters, so you would have to pick up your dish as they call it out. read more

The panino that I ordered was a chicory and sausage panino and I was pretty excited to try it. However, I did notice that it was premade. Wish it was made fresh. They heated it up for me and when I opened it up there was almost no filling. IT was about 95% bread. And to add on, the bread wasn't even that great; it was SO salty. It wasn't the best we had for the price, but it will do in a pinch. Perhaps the food wasn't up to par because we arrived at 3pm and they had to microwave the eggplant Parmesan. The panini was very meaty (in a good way), and the bread was thick and very dense -- almost like challah. Overall it was pretty good, though it was very heavy. The eggplant Parmesan was gooey, and it was good but not outstanding for me. The other person in our group really liked it though, so perhaps it's personal preference.
