New woman owner is so rude (constantly interrupts and impossible to finish a sentence -…read more#customerserviceFAIL!), doesn't know what she's doing (often seen her sending customers away - including myself - for not having a logo on a returns label/other ridiculous reasons ... no such problems at High Street branch/before this branch relocated), massively slow (she always looks confused!) - no urgency to anything even with huge queues ... today she defaced my parcel by scribbling all over my name & address without my permission. She said it would confuse the postmen (errr ... it said "FROM" on it) and then wanted to refuse to let me send it at all because the address label wasn't centred on the parcel! At Xmas she passes items back to customers and makes everyone put their own stamps on (hugely confusing, especially if sending numerous parcels to different countries) ... jobsworth and clearly a bit lacking in grey matter!
This P.O is run by a lovely couple. The Husband normally mans the shop solo but his Wife is around…read moreduring the weekends. They normally shut a little bit later than advertised which is always a god-send on a lazy saturday morning. They are also super accomodating - can't count how many times I have come out with either no adress or an incomplete address and he will always let me leave package and rush back home, even if I am there at the close of day. You can also pay money into your account, top up your mobile and send faxes. I had to send a fax to pruhealth on a freephone number once and he didn't charge me which I thought was nice. Officially, they are open until 5.30pm on weekdays and until 12.30 on Saturdays but you normally find them open until 1pm quite often. If there is a local P.O that deserves the custom and support, it is this one!
This is a good post office, because the staff are reliable and do their job properly and…read moreefficiently. I have used this post office many times and I can trust them to provide me with the correct service. There are usually two clerks available and of course there is usually a substantial queue on a Monday or during weekday lunchtimes, but that's true of all Post offices isn't it? The Post Office itself is located in a newsagents, so it can feel quite cramped when you are queuing there. I am not too bothered about this because this Post Office is in a convenient location for me.

The Great Portland Street Post Office is one of the surprisingly few Post Offices I found during my…read moretime in London, as stated in the name, it is located on Great Portland Street in West London. This branch is located in quite an old building, like a good number of Post Offices are, the only entrance is up a few steps, which is even used to transport mail in and out as the store does not have a ramp, it has a wheelchair button for access, however, this didn't appear to be working on my visit. The store inside seemed a bit messy and other than having one or two self-service machines, the queuing system wasn't handled fairly well. The staff situation was a little weird, they seemed kind yet unhelpful, perhaps this was an issue with their training which was a shame. For the main reasons of access, overall feel etc, I sadly feel this Post Office branch really lets the whole Post Office brand down as a whole, and sadly deserves a single one-star rating.

If you're lucky you only have to queue up for ten minutes but generally if you go at a convenient time (lunch time or after work) you're looking at a queue that goes out of the door and a wait of at least half an hour. When you finally get to the counter you may be lucky enough to get a friendly face and helpful person but you're just as likely to get someone surly and unhelpful. If you're just getting stamps then there is a seperate place to buy them and there is also a seperate queue if you want something travel related. It's not a bad post office when you consider how many people go in there every day but if I have a choice of going to that one or another one I will generally pick another one.
