In the past 4 years, I had gained 40+ lbs due to some special medicine I was taking (and probably some overeating of hamburgers too haha). I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of it. Juice cleanses, special diets, pills, multiple private trainers, you name it and I had done it. Unfortunately, nothing stuck. Knowing my wedding was just around the corner, I had to do something to get the weight off for good. I wanted to feel confident on my wedding day! I found Lindsay through a quick yelp search and was intrigued. Let's get this straight. This is not a special fad diet or some strict eating plan, its a way of life! Lindsay gives you the tools, skills, and mindset to make a long lasting change in your lifestyle. During the course of the 6 weeks, I lost 8+ lbs and now (more than 3 months later) I'm still continuing to lose weight by following what she taught me. What I appreciated the most was her accessibility. She would review menus of restaurants I was eating at or provide me with customized recommendations. When I was frustrated with results or what the scale said, she was non-judgmental and offered helpful advice for how to overcome cravings or emotional reactions. In fact, I was surprised (in a good way) by how much of the program was centered around mindfulness and balance. Even though the program only includes 4 sessions, I felt like I was in constant communication with Lindsay and she genuinely cared about my progress. She frequently sent email updates and checked in, and when I had questions, she was never more than a text away. I am excited to see continued progress. I would recommend Lindsay to anyone!

I only had two virtual appointments with Dr. K, and she quit on me…read more First, it took me almost two months to send my lab work to Dr. K since her digital fax number did not work after several attempts. I ended up getting a regular fax number which finally worked. Her office is shared so phone calls go to a voice machine most of the time. During my virtual appointments, I noticed Dr. K did not pay attention to my labs and medical history and instead focused primarily on my diet. My sessions were only 30 minutes so I felt I had to talk quickly to get her up to speed on any tests I already completed in the past year. Dr. K mentioned there was some type of diet log on their Healthie app, but she did not explain on how often she would look at this to provide client feedback. She followed up online with items I could and should not eat, and approximate measurements. I felt like I was on a Jenny Craig diet with meal options, as there was no explanation of how certain foods or timing would reverse my condition. I had to ask for weekly appointments in order to review my progress and suggestions. I felt criticized the entire time, as if I was trying to challenge her integrity instead of her understanding my religious or GF diet restrictions. After 15 minutes into the second appointment, she decided we were not a "good match." She also said she did not want to take the time to explain the science behind her approach. She is like a fitness trainer that tells you what exercises to do without explaining how the different skills will effect your health and physical well being during workouts! I am extremely motivated to work with a doctor who has patience to explain things and work in a positive fashion, rather than criticize a patient's efforts with a very negative attitude.

I initially sought out training at TFN because I was having some pain with lifting, and Mike tweaked my technique and gave me lots of helpful cues that helped me to lift pain free so I can keep getting stronger. Honestly I just came to buy a belt from one of the trainers/coach there thinking that would be it,…read morebut I ended up leaving there a client. Personally, I wasn't interested or really planning on getting a coach because I thought I knew a lot about the ins and outs of lifting. Kevin asked me to have a training session with him and I agreed because I thought it would be pretty cool to lift with a guy like him. While there I went through my normal warmup routine to work up to a heavy single on deadlifts then doing back off sets. I was then told by Kevin that I was yanking on the bar which I didn't think I was. He proceeded to then tell me everything that was wrong with my form, knowing of his extensive background, I wasn't going to tell him that he was wrong. He pulled me aside and basically retaught me all the basics of a proper deadlift form from bracing all the way to pulling. I was so impressed by the end of this that I ended up booking a one on one session with him to fix my form for my other main lifts. Kevin himself, has a strong background, having competed on a national stage and multiple high level competitions in his elite powerlifting career. He has helped me fixed my form for all my main lifts, it is still work in progress to break my old habits, but I feel a lot stronger and more fluid in my movements. Kevin is dedicated to his craft and has a sharp eye to point out flaws and fix them in his clients to deliver the best results. The gym itself isn't the largest space around however it is meant for clients and isn't an open gym. It offers the best equipment around for their clients to borrow and use for their training from belts (lever and prong), bands, squat shoes, calibrated plates, collars, competition racks etc. Even though I've only been with Kevin as my coach, I can tell from seeing the other trainers that they genuinely care and are dedicated to helping and improving their clients in any way they can. Every single person is here incredibly qualified to do their job and I would recommend True Fitness and Nutrition to anyone out there.
