We took advantage of the beautiful weather that day and saved this experience for last as we were heading back to Lucerne. There was a huge tour group just off the bus. Unfortunately, they couldn't accept 2 more people with the time alotted (totally understandable). Our tour guide pulled a rabbit out of his hat once again to save the day. He had a promotional ticket for a complimentary chocolate making experience. It was the best surprise ever! This guy always has a Plan B. That plan went into action almost immediately. Honestly, it was an experience that I didn't think we would have time for during the trip. Our guide proved us wrong. I was given a ticket to redeem it for a chocolate bar of my choice (white, milk, or dark chocolate) as well as the shape of the bar (Switzerland, heart, or square chocolate mold). The kind lady at the Live Production area explained the process and told me to maximize the toppings on the table to create a work of art. I did just that. Lol! Okay, it was more of a hot mess than a work of art. I decided to name it the "Terrain of Switzerland" because it was more of a textural look. It was a last minute decision to add the rice crispies later after placing it on the cooling conveyor belt to set the chocolate. They ended up being the little cows on the mountainous terrain of chocolate. Haha! It was SO MUCH FUN!! My husband took pictures of me assembling it. He really got into it. Our guide was laughing at my artwork, and totally with reason. It ended up being a highlight of our trip. The wrapping of the chocolate and making a bow was a little difficult for me. I'm not very crafty, but it worked out quite well. After this awesome experience, we took our time walking through the factory shop. There were so many great deals. I immediately went to the bags of frischschoggi. They taste the same as what you would get for the higher price only these were misshapen chocolate pieces. It was an assortment of all different flavors. Everyone was looking for bags with the most variety of flavors. I also ended up purchasing the Dubai Dark Chocolate Frischschoggi. Delicious!! It's my favorite so far. They also had a milk chocolate version. You'll also get a sample of chocolate truffles in your bag to take home with you. There are also samples provided as you enter the store. The pumpkin spice one was actually quite delicious. Yum! This was absolutely the best Läderach experience we encountered. We visited many storefronts, but the one in Bilten was the cherry on top. There's a café as well, and everything is just beautifully presented. Läderach is known in Switzerland for its quality ingredients. Just ask around, and you'll see. Make that stop in Bilten. It's so very worth a special trip as a chocolate lover. It's chocolate heaven, indeed!

They have a wide assortment breads, croissants and other things you would associate with a bakery. My favorites are the rye sourdough and the Chocomel (chocolate caramel) croissant. This last one is to me the real deal here, it is amazing, even for someone like me who typically doesn't like chocolate or croissants. It is sweet salty buttery crispy goodness. Their milk, cream and butter from Noiraigue, Switzerland. Their shops are not widely common. With only 1 shop in Zurich, 1 shop in Lausanne, 1 shop in Geneva that has their products, and 3 other shops in different parts of Switzerland. Every country I visit, I make it a point to try the local chocolate. So far, my favorite has been and still is Swiss chocolates. My most recent visit to Switzerland was basically a chocolate tour in search of the best (in my opinion) chocolate in each canton. Jacot, just like most places in Switzerland, is closed on Sundays. So, I had to come back the next day to actually try their chocolate. It's a small shop with only 1 employee. I was the only customer when I went to their shop after visiting Fraumünster a few feet away. They have bars of milk chocolate and ranges of dark chocolate, truffles, pralines and bon bons. They also have chocolate, and nut spreads. They have free samples. What caught my attention was their Absinthe bon bon - I almost got it but i remembered I'm not a fan of Absinthe and I don't think any amount of the best chocolate can make Absinthe taste better. Zurich being my first stop of my Swiss tour and knowing there's a Jacot in Lausanne towards the end of my trip, I decided to get 1-2 truffles, bon bons and pralines in calamansi, nougatine, pistachio marzipan, malakoff, crunchy, and noisella. You buy them by the weight. The Zürich shop is bigger and has more stuff compared to the Lausanne shop. I was eating my purchase on a train to the next city and I had immediate regret for only getting 2 of the calamansi bon bons! It was soooo good. The calamansi flavor was very pronounced.

I figured, since Zürich has a Favarger shop, I might as well go in and go again when I get to Geneva. Along Bahnhofstrasse, you'll find lots of shops and next to each other are a few of the top Swiss chocolatiers. Talk about competition! It works out really well for me so I can shop at all of them and comped their chocolates for research purposes. I want to figure out which chocolatier I like most. Swiss chocolatiers like to give free samples. Even if it's not on the tray of samples, if you want to try something before buying, all you have to do is ask. I sampled a few things. Out of all the Swiss chocolatiers I've been to (not just in Zurich and Geneva), Favarger makes the thickest Dubai chocolate Frisch schoggi. So, I bought a slab or it and a box of truffles. But I must say though, I don't like their matcha chocolate. Service was courteous. One of the nicest chocolate shopping experiences I've had in Switzerland.
