Sprungli was a cute bakery, like many others that was located at the station. It had numerous options available for cookies cakes bread macaroons and other desserts to name a few. We grabbed a few cookies and macaroons, prior to our excursion, as the bus wasn't going to stop till we got to the destination. The macaroons and cookies were delicious as the employee helped us pick the most popular items and the best tasting. The bakery itself was nicely decorated and the displays were appealing to the eye. I'd give this place 3.5-4 stars. Having been to their other locations, this place is chaotic and busy with a great lack in paying attention to potential diners and current diners. They do have a quick counter where you can grab a sandwich, croissant, slice of cake if you're in a rush - but that counter could have quite a line too. There's also the chocolate shop where you can grab your last minute chocolate gifts or a box of luxemburgli (their mini macarons)for family and friends. But I do love their hot chocolate, their cake, and luxemburgli. So despite the lack in wait staff, I felt obliged to eat here one last time before flying home. But the quick service counter lady and another person staff member from the chocolate shop jumped in to help - so, they do try. I didn't feel the need to be an ass of a customer and demand service. Amazingly, with that attitude, I got good and quick service and made it to my flight with plenty of time to spare. I got my usual hot chocolate. A cheese quiche, a spinach and bacon quiche, a slice of truffle cake, and a cream tart (like Portuguese egg tarts aka pasteis). Good filling breakfast! Mmmm mmmm... Here's a tip: if you only have an hour or less before your flight then, don't dine here. Just grab something quick to eat and get some chocolates. We just stopped here cause our friend was buying some macaroons, first of all it is a superbly place with all kinda of sweets chocolate, cookies, cakes sandwiches you name it they have if. Service was good, as they do have tons of employees and they did seemed pretty helpful, place is clean but I honestly think a bit on the pricey side. I bake so I know costs, but then again they smacking right in center of town and on prime street corner. Hope I get a chance to stop by get some treats to take back home!! read more

I just don't get it ..... like Janice from SF I knew they were overpriced and we were basically saying the heck with it as we didn't want to take back too much foreign currency. But after having sampled all my various Swiss chocolates I don't see why the sprungli truffle is so touted. It was 21chf for 10 truffles which I guess is what all high end chocolates run even in the US. So we have tried about 6 so far and of the 6 only 1 stood out but it was filled with a robitussin tasting liqueur...we both practically spit it out. Otherwise they all tasted too similar. Stick with the hazelnut chocolate bars .... you don't even need to spring for lindt...coop will do just fine! ps...I do wish I had tried the macaroons that looked so pretty... read more

Opened in the early 2010s as a supplement to in-terminal dining that otherwise seems to focus on quick-bites or market-style fare, Sprungli Café is laid out as a lengthily strip en route from arrivals to connecting services and presented in a casual setting overlooking the tarmac with a short walk to gates the service nonetheless is one of pure professionalism, the fact that they were sold out of signature Museli by 13h00 stated matter-of-factually, thus leading to a pastry focused experience plus a cringe-worthy 5.50 Swiss Francs for a small cup of Coffee. Certainly a pricy place, though really no different from Laduree or many of the most storied houses in Europe, it was within ten minutes of ordering that three pastries joined an already-in-progress tasting of the bite-size Cookies sold by weight in the store that the Sprungli experience got underway; each Macaron impressive by way of its flavor profile though the texture is somewhat different from the classic French version as the shell itself seems more "buoyant" or airy with a mouthfeel that starts of slightly chewy before dissolving quite quickly. Most impressed by the true-to-its-word Champagne flavored Luxemburgerli, though the Salty Caramel and Vanilla also fared well, Sprungli's Almond Croissant next represented the last of that morning's pastries with an atypical crunchy horn modestly laminated and stuffed with pure nut filling, the two slices of cake likely a better representation of what the Confiserie does best as both were elegantly presented with rich, natural flavors in several layers of contrasting consistency. Saving a few more treats for later, the Fig Cookie certainly not to be confused with a "newton" as golden dough and sticky-sweet filling made adept dance partners in a square sizable enough to be shared, a bag of three Amaretti Cookies surprisingly proved to be the highlight of the morning as the Almond Meringue shell gave way to wispy Kirsch Mousse atop a base dipped in good Chocolate, the 65% Cocoa base used to form the bulk of Sprungli's Truffles and Praline, of which the Pistachio and Almond were both exquisite. read more

Great: decadent desserts. Almost every variety. Do get the chocolate mousse with alcohol. It is absolutely divine!! Bad: a bit pricey but I am told Switzerland is pricey. Small pastries run in the range of 7.50€/ each and upwards. Macaroons are super expensive as well. Around 22€ for 12. Teas are a bit cheaper (4.80€ and upwards). Coffees and hot/cold chocolate are 7.50€ and upwards. hot chocolate is not as sweet as back in the US so if you like your hot chocolate sweeter then you may not like it at Sprungli. read more

Don't mistake the star count for criticizing the quality of the product. Sprungli makes damn good truffles, and it's not surprising that many people would go out of their way to eat here. That said, at some point, you have to accept that the price for a particular product is outrageous. Sprungli has found that point. Paying 2x for a low cost good isn't a big deal. Paying 5x and even 10x isn't so bad either. But when you are reaching 40-60x, you have to start questioning your life choices. Look, maybe somewhere there is an extremely fine toilet paper that brushes your asshole ever so gently to the point where it feels like butterflies will fly out of there instead of copious amounts of shit. But should you pay 60x for that product (actually, I just might so perhaps this was a terrible example)? It's probably not the greatest compliment ever when I'm comparing your product to high end toilet paper, and that's exactly why I can't in good conscience give Sprungli more than 3 stars. Still, if you are here and okay with splurging on chocolates, go right ahead because even Paul Pierce would be calling these the Truth. read more

I found this to be a great dessert stop during my layover in Zurich. The chocolates and macarons are of high quality, though they are quite expensive, especially if you're translating dollars into Francs. Luckily they take credit cards. It's a well worth it splurge, especially if you're never had Sprungli before! The pistachio and salted caramel small macarons were delicious.
