I haven't visited a Thornton's before, so I don't know if every Thornton's is this amazing and Fox Lake just gets the good review, or if this one itself is truly that great. Their gas pumps are always clean and well maintained-- and their gas prices aren't that bad either! Now the inside of the gas station-- this is where the magic happens. I have never seen such an amazing selection of beverages all the way from pop varieties, slushies, coffees, cappuccinos and teas. They also have some great toppings to add to your hot beverages, like marshmallows and flavored shots and sauces. Their "fast foods" section is pretty amazing as well-- full of hot dogs and greasy-dough wrapped meat things, just to name a couple. This section also has some tasty toppings to include on your 'dogs! I could make a meal out of the condiments themselves-- tomatoes, jalapeños, salsa, cheese, etc. One last shining star of this gas station is the "Refreshing Rewards" membership program. When you sign up for this free program, you get 10 cents off every gallon of gas you purchase for the first 30 days. That's a pretty sweet deal, if I do say so myself-- especially since there are no limitations on the amount of gas you can buy! Can you say winning?! In addition to the 30 days of 10 cents off, you get rewarded for purchasing beverages (hence the name of the program), and I believe some money off your gas after the initial 30 days. I have been very impressed with this gas station (as well as the nice staff there). When I have a choice of gas stations and Thornton's is among those options, I will always stop there.

I have stopped going here about 3 months ago because I got tired of coffee either being empty or so burnt it taste terrible. I'm not a coffee snob by any means ( just not a Starbucks overpriced coffee fan) but one morning I went I told the girl working the coffee containers were all empty she actually tried to talk me into a flavor that she liked because she just made it and it was her favorite. Really? If you are going through the effort wouldn't you make all flavors? Got tired of everything either empty or broken so haven't gone back for a while. Figured I would try again about a week ago and same old stuff so don't feel bad driving by. It honestly used to be busy there and now don't see cars in there at all. I'm sure that the manager or corporate office is thinking it's due to the rough road driving in there (which is being replaced now) but it's due to the lousy service they provide. I don't think it's the people that work there I think it's the management that they have in place. Many times that I was there before there were 2 employees outside smoking (pretty sure one was the manager?) and everything was empty inside and the poor person inside was taking heat for everything many times. It's a shame, want to support local business but not if they don't care. There are many more places to get gas and or coffee.

(They have that too) but these meals looked great and I'm thinking we may stop and buy a few before we head back to Chicago. I thought we had an account here but when we entered my phone number it didn't come up so the attendant explained that it is probably the stores that start with a q. He gave me the application and entered my phone number to get points for this first purchase. He was very nice and helpful. I wish we had these near where we live in Chicago. The donuts we bought were very fresh and delicious!

They always have specials on both hot food and grocery items, usually, something to eat for a buck like a cheeseburger, grilled cheese, or egg roll, way better than most gas station food. Milk and bread are usually a bargain as well. Kwik Trip was early in the store brand game, so you'll find a lot of quality snack foods with their own names on them for less than the big brands. Washrooms are always spotless. The company is an amazing growth story, when I first started visiting them in Lacrosse, WI, they had three stores. Now 800+ in WI, IL, IA, and MN.
