No kidding though... we drove past the Mobil in…read moreAvondale after a visit to the New Lynn night market last Thursday evening and our jaws dropped: their fuel price for the regular ol' 91 octane was sitting at $1.97 a litre. Not only has it been ages since we've seen prices drop below the elusive $2 mark, but it was nearly twenty cents cheaper than some of the gas stations around town! This particular Mobil branch actually has two forecourts (to meet their increasing demand perhaps): the main one off Great North Road and another that you can enter via West Coast Road. Even at 9pm the place was still pretty busy but the line moved quickly so we were in and out within about 15 minutes. It's probably not worth driving out of your way all the way to Avondale (especially if you live on the Shore like me) to save money on petrol but if you're driving nearby and with fuel prices this competitive, it sure doesn't hurt to stop by and fill up your tank.

In the morning before work, it's high traffic time of day, so you are prohibited from turning in travelling east down Onewa Road, fair enough, I hear the odd beep of a horn from annoyed drivers as cheeky law breakers sneak in for petrol or shopping. For now this express is the busiest in the area, however there is news that a few 100 metres up the road in a few months another petrol service station will be opening, so we shall see how this effects them. Great for coffee and petrol stop, or perhaps to exchange that BBQ gas bottle, with nice helpful staff. I know that they do have competitive petrol rates .

Whilst CPM specializes in European models, they are more than happy to service whatever make/model your car may be. I recently took my Subaru in here to get a headlight bulb replaced and renew my WOF. As my Nana and Grandad live down the road, I was in no hurry and told Tim to just call me when it was ready. About an hour later he rung to let me know the car was ready to be picked up. The WOF and headlight all together cost $70. Open 5 days a week from 7:30am, I would definitely recommend booking in to see Tim if you live in the area or have a European car.

With the launch of the new one series, I decided to give it a fair go, I've always written it off as an option due to its size. But the little car is fast, comfortable and dare I say it, spacious. It is more than a just a car for young women working in advertising or hairdressers. It is a good car. The salesman took my details, gave me a brochure and offered me a follow up test drive, all the right moves. Plus my details were entered in the database, keeping me posted on any deals that might entice me to shop for a new Beemer.

Dropped my car in for some work to be done at JCBMW - paid for by a different dealer. Found out…read morethat the car was taken home my a JCBMW employee overnight and used for errands the following morning without permission. On the third day, I called to see if if was ready to be picked up, only to find out that they had given the car to someone from the other dealer and I had to go to Glenfield to pick it up. As I saw it, JCBMW allowed my car to be uplifted by a person who didn't drop the car off, is not on the paperwork, does not own the car and did not have permission to uplift it. No attempt was made to contact me to seek permission. They fixed the problem but I can't trust them to take my car back.

Well, yeah, normally I would agree but the service at this family run station is just consistently that good that I felt obliged to write about it. First off, the family that run this place are fantastic. Always chipper, they never forget to ask how you day is going or if there is else they can help you with. I recently moved back home from overseas and they asked how long how I was back for. I couldn't believe they remembered me, it had been over a year! The icing on the cake though, is that they are just so god damn efficient. This might seem silly but when are running late it is really quite key. Literally, by the time you have pull up and get out of your car they have already unscrewed the petrol lid and are asking what you need. Not to mention, the minutes you save when you are already inside waiting to pay as soon as they put the petrol hose is back on the hook. It's efficiency at it's finest and I love it!
