Based on that information, I returned with my documents to have them notarized. After the notarization was completed, I was informed that there was a $10 fee. Had I been told about the charge during my initial visit, I would have appreciated the opportunity to decide whether to proceed. Instead, I was given inaccurate information and only learned of the fee after the service had already been performed. The issue is not the $10 itself, but the lack of clear and consistent communication. Customers should be able to rely on the information provided by staff, especially regarding pricing. Being quoted one price--or in this case, no charge at all--and then being charged afterward creates confusion and undermines trust.

I reached out and they said the FBI background check service I used required a password and they can't access it. I checked and they were right, but why hadn't someone reached out? When I submitted my application I received an automated email they received my request. The email they sent about my password went to my junk mail. They do have notification on their site to check junk mail, but I figured since the automated reply came through fine it wasn't an issue. Luckily I still received my documents at the same time our marriage license apostille came in, so we didn't lose any time.
