I was initially looking for eyebrow threading services, but do not offer that service. They do offer eyebrow waxing, I was skeptical because in the past waxing hadn't worked me & I needed emergency eyebrow rescuing for MY WEDDING! I spoke the owner and the young lady at the desk, she informed me of the different wax types and techies, so I went for it. BOY!! I'm glad I listened to them! My eyebrows came out beautiful! It's been nine days since the haircut. I would like to give an update on my review. My hair is growing out well and is back to a decent length. For an update, the overall first cut was good, the length was just too short, which made me a but disappointed. I have been in Keene for almost two years and I have been going back to Buffalo or into Nashua to get my hair done because I was afraid of having my hair done in this town. That fear is now put aside because I found Brandon at Moda!! Picture it: Keene, on what I am pretty sure is the hottest, most humid day of the year. After getting lost (even though there is a sign a top the building entrance) I find myself in a slightly eclectic, well put together salon. My stylist takes me into a room and waxes, then plucks my eyebrows and for the first time in months, I don't get red/puffy! A good start in my book!! Next comes the haircut! Nick is AMAZING!!!! I met him 10+ years ago when he first opened his shop here in Keene. He is my GOLD STANDARD for hair stylists. I live on the west coast now and struggle to find anyone as good as him. I like low maintenance styles (wash & air dry) for my thick hair. After I have Nick work on my hair, it always goes through really nice transitions of which still looks awesome 5 months later. Every time I come back to Keene to visit, I always schedule an appointment with Nick first. I receive many compliments as I see old friends. So glad I finally tried this place! The salon itself is charming and stylish- not to mention the cool view of main street you get to take in! Brandon, my stylist, was very personable and knowledgable. He did an awesome job with my eyebrows and definitely stays away from overplucking/overwaxing which I have experienced at a lot of local salons. I also found the wax to be less painful and I am waaaay less red afterwards than I typically would be. Brandon sat me down, took a look at my hair, asked me what I was thinking and then walked me through what his plan was and made sure I was on board. I asked for as little length to come off as possible but wanted to fix the shelf like layers I had. Somehow, Brandon managed to fix my choppy layers, give my hair some body, have my bangs shape my face beautifully (he convinced me to do shorter layer for bangs rather than the side swept look and he was totally right!) and I think he managed to do it all without taking more than 1/4 inch if even. I loved that he showed me the back of my hair, too-- which looked amazing! He walked me through the products he used when drying my hair and what they did, but there was absolutely no pressure to buy-- which I really appreciated. I had my first haircut years ago by Nick, and liked it so much I went back. Nick wasn't available, so I opted for Brandon, who did a nice job as well. They both were my go-to hair place for a few years in a row, and when I went back the last time I unfortunately had a horrible hair cut. Nick had just returned from a hair expo in Europe and I think he was excited to use his thinning shears on my already thin hair. He styled, crunched, sprayed, dried and flipped me into a haircut that only a stylist could do every day. I went home and thought, oh i'll just wash and straighten it and it will be all good.It was absolutely HORRIFYING! He over used the thinning shears and my hair felt coarse and sickly. Great cut, knows design - - 2010-03-01 I am very happy to have found Nick. He absolutely knew what to do when I sat in his chair. First he asked me why I was unhappy with my hair. Then he showed me what my hair needed to flatter my face. He did not push products, even instructing me to wait ten weeks for another cut since the last hairdresser cut my hair too short on top. Meanwhile he gave me a great snappy cut and showed me how to blow dry it. You've tried the rest, now try the best. Nick, the owner, is way talented. He could be in NYC or LA getting $75 per cut, but wanted to be near family in Keene. For $28, you get not just a shampoo, cut, and blowdry, but a chance to work with an artist who really listens to you. MODA is the only salon in a 50-mile radius that carries Bumble and bumble products, and Bb only invites the finest salons in the world to carry their line. The salon is on the 2nd floor of a historic building, with an ornate tin ceiling you can admire while your locks are washed, funky art on the walls, large windows looking east over Main Street and Central Square that let in lots of light. The main part of the salon has a chair in each corner, each facing a huge antiquey 4x5-foot mirror that leans up against the wall. It all adds up to really good feng shui! Nick's always got good tunes going, too. The whole experience there is something I look forward to every month. read more

Worst shampoo and haircut I have ever gotten. I will not go back or recommend this salon. The cut was choppy and very hard to clean up, it took over a month a do. I was very disappointed with both the shampoo which took all of 30 seconds at the most and the choppy hair cut which had uneven sides and uneven shorter chunks in the back. This is the worst salon I have ever gone to. I paid to close the salon down for my wedding and not only did nick show up late to our appointment he left early and rushed through everybody hair and makeup. Before I even got to my ceremony (it was one hour after we left the salon) my hair had completely fallen out and looked terrible as did everyone in my wedding parties hair. My photos came out terrible due to the disheveled look of my entire wedding party. Nick and his team ruined what should have been the happiest day of my life. He also over charged each girl in my bridal party. I had a written signed contract from him stating the prices and the day of he preceded to charge everyone more than the agreed prices and after I attempted to contact the salon to explain the over charges to my bridal party I never heard back from anyone. I highly suggest anyone looking into this salon to avoid it all cost...upon first look it appears to he a reputable salon but they are terrible at their jobs and should be ashamed to call anyone there a professional stylist. read more

I got my hair done at Moda Suo for my wedding. My maid of honor, my mother and I all had our hair done with Tia, who was fantastic. She gave my mom a gorgeous blow-out, which stayed all day long and looked fantastic (even through intense humidity and last minute wedding chores!) There was a bit of a scheduling situation that occurred due to the transition in receptionists, so I was unable to have a pre-wedding consultation with Tia prior to the "big day" but she did a phenomenal job on both my Maid of Honor's and my hair with just a few googled images to help guide her. She was totally professional, completely creative, listened to what I wanted, and made me feel so incredibly special and beautiful on my wedding day. My up-do stayed all day long, and through the evening (and alot of dancing and humidity!) My only complaint is that I live in Boston, and won't be able to see Tia or Nick as often as I'd like to get my hair done. Thank you both, for making me feel truly special! read more
