The change in my daughter's grades and mental health was absolutely spectacular. She went from failing to all A's and B's and became much more confident and mentally healthy. I can't say enough good things about the teachers and the staff at Fusion. They were fantastic to work with, flexible and focused on my daughter's well being. My daughter wanted to try her senior year back at our local high school to see her friends and so far is doing well. She has gotten into 4 colleges which would NOT have happened without Fusion. The only downsides that I would bring up are that it's not cheap and my daughter found it a little isolating. I think the latter was mostly due to her not trying to engage socially. Julie Pineda is the Director of Student Development and was just amazing to work with. All of her teachers were great as well, especially Jasmine. Most schools -- Hopkinson, Rossmoor, Lee -- truly live up to that reputation. But parents need to know: Weaver Elementary, under Principal Dr. Schmidt and teacher Colette Sullivan, is not safe for children. Here's what happened to our kindergartener. For three weeks straight, he was removed from Ms. Sullivan's class and left alone in the principal's office for hours every day -- without our knowledge. He was not disruptive. His only "offense" was not finishing assignments. Instead of being supported, he was dropped in a chair with no desk, no guidance, and no instruction, while his classmates learned. We only discovered this because our child became so fearful that he broke down and begged us not to take him to school. The secretary confirmed the routine, and Dr. Schmidt himself admitted it happened multiple times and defended it as acceptable. The school kept no records and never notified us. Think about that: a six-year-old child, abandoned daily, completely unsupervised. Imagine the damage to his trust in school, his sense of safety, his joy of learning. For weeks he sat silently, terrified, while we thought he was in class. When the district was alerted, the superintendent investigated and disciplined both Dr. Schmidt and Ms. Sullivan. That discipline alone proves how unacceptable their conduct was. Yet, shockingly, both remain employed at Weaver, still responsible for children. This was not discipline. This was not education. This was neglect. And it happened under the direct leadership of Dr. Schmidt and Ms. Sullivan. After transferring to Hopkinson Elementary, our son's experience was completely different. Principal Garcia and his new teacher welcomed him, supported him, and restored his love of learning. He is thriving again -- proof that Los Al schools can be extraordinary. But Weaver is not. The leadership failed. The teacher failed. But I'm glad the superintendent's discipline did bring accountability but it won't bring back the damage that it did to our child. Parents deserve to know the truth: Weaver Elementary, under Dr. Schmidt and Ms. Sullivan, is not a school you should ever risk sending your child to. Until there is a complete change in leadership, avoid this school at all costs. Do not make the mistake we did. Do not send your child to Weaver Elementary.

She then went on a hostile rant defending her staff, but I just want to know about the people counseling my kid. Grace Delk is mentally and emotionally broken and gas no place in a setting that counsels children. BTW, Grace is not used to dealing with substantive questions from parents, as the only other parent questions were: 1. Who are you? 2. Will my special ed kid get to socialize with the 'normal' kids? Pathetic, which is why Grace Delk is herself, pathetic. A mental health professional? Absurd. If she really felt offended or that my question was hostile, she would have tried to diffuse the situation. Instead she answered emotionally. This is the darkness in the heart of man, which Joseph Conrad wrote about most eloquently.

Awesome!!! Just had a parent/teacher conference with my kiddo's kinder teacher and he's at the top…read moreof his class, especially with reading, writing and math. And I attribute that to the extra time he spends at Kumon. And it's only been a couple of months!! His penmanship is getting better and more legible. He answers math questions quicker, he's able to blend word and write multiple sentences about a singular topic. He's reading words that I didn't even know he knew. He enjoys the kumon workbooks for the most part and is excited to do them (but it could be because it's part of his "chore" list). He enjoys the challenge of being able to finish the booklets "faster" each time. At first when we began, he was doing both math and reading/writing with 10-page booklets. But honestly, it was a lot for my lil kinder guy especially after a long day of school and activities. After speaking with Mr. Michael, he suggested cutting the workload to either just one subject or fewer number of pages. I chose the latter to ensure that both topics were covered still and I've seen major improvements on willingness to complete the books, excitement to do the work and satisfaction of doing a job well done. The little rewards they have in the center also are a cute incentive. The kids are given kumon dollars to earn towards little prizes. It's adorable to see the kids count their money and decide if they want to spend now or save for a bigger item. Great way to teach a child about the value of a dollar, delayed vs instant gratification, and smart spend habits. I've seen a mix of kids who go "shopping" with the few kumon dollars they've earned and get small items and I've seen many save up for the bigger prizes. Ms. Mindy is incredibly sweet but stern at the same time. No push-over there and she can turn whining of "I don't knows" into smiles of "I know it!!!" almost magically! (I gotta learn that trick!!!) The center is open Mondays and Thursdays starting at 230pm. Depending on workload, kids finish up their in-class work in average of 45minutes. They are also assigned homework to complete when at home. Some parents like to sit there and wait in the small front entrance or in their cars, but Starbucks, albertsons, dollar tree, Ross, marshalls, Home Depot and a bunch of other stores are nearby for a quick shopping trip. So convenient. I never understood why anyone would want to sit in their car for 45 minutes. If my son gets done early, he calls me on the center's phone and Mr. Michael never lets anyone out unless he sees parent. It's amazing that he can he remember all the kids and all the parents...by first and last name!! I think one of the best advice I got so far from Mr. Michael and Ms. Mindy was if my kiddo doesn't finish the work at home, it IS okay. Pushing him too hard will just discourage him and he will not enjoy kumon. They can always move the work to the next day. The important thing is that my kiddo goes at his own pace which will allow him to continue to enjoy the work and succeed. Can't wait to see how this year progresses!!!

My kids are truly thriving and actually look forward to going to school every day. The teachers are incredible and genuinely care about the students. You can tell they put in so much effort, and it shows. The support system here is also something special. Everyone is so involved and welcoming, which makes a huge difference as a parent. The principal and all the staff are just amazing. The school feels very well rounded, organized, and positive. It really feels like a community, not just a school.

We have NEVER had a teacher we did not appreciate. As for the posts regarding bullying. . .I wonder if they are reaching out? Is the school aware of what is going on? I have had bullying issues with my child being on both ends and the school has not only contacted me immediately but helped resolve the issues, whether is be a meeting with teacher/principal, a phone call, or a sit down with other parents. They do have high turn over for principals but it has never really caused us any issues. And they do stress attendance but I cannot imagine any school not. Regular attendance helps the teacher & student build a relationship. Attendance is important!!
