When I walked in the store I was honest and asked that they don't take advantage of me due to my lack of knowledge. Mike, was very kind, easy going and understanding, he in no way took advantage of me and gave me a good price. They have a full stock of supplies as well. And we LOVE Hixton! I've been to Miller's several times over the years, and during my recent trip I finally concluded that my time and my money are much better spent on the other side of the freeway! I particularly like the old schoolhouse antiques...way bigger selection and way better prices and way nicer people. Miller's has some interesting stuff. But the prices are really ridiculous. You're going to pay double or triple (or more) over what you'd pay for the exact same item at another antique store or what you'd pay for the same thing on Ebay. (And that includes shipping!) Whenever I've run across the owner, I feel like I've just talked to a used car salesman and that I should run somewhere and immediately take a shower and disinfect myself. Yuck! This seems to be mostly "& More" (cutesy home decor; some Santa items; wooden signs; some type of…read moremattresses in the back) though there was some Amish furniture, as well as a number of very reasonably priced jams (including some unusual flavors such as beet or mulberry), pickled items (very cheap) and candies on the second floor; outside a lady in a lace cap was selling very affordable bread, pies and candies. ($5 for a raisin pie; $1 for a hand pie; 40 cent cinnamon rolls; hard to resist - also plastic clamshells of 20 different types of homemade candy, largely chocolate-covered confections and various nut brittles - very clean labels). Some of the quilts on the mattresses were beautiful though I didn't see prices.

I especially love when they are affordable, which the majority of the things carried here seemed to be. They rent out space to various dealers, so there's a large assortment of vintage beer steins, art deco dish sets, tin signs, ceramic figures, books and much, much more. The store is spacious and set up in no particular order. I had seen a billboard on the side of the highway that gave vague directions (get off at exits 115 or 116 and turn left). I asked if this was the antique shop featured in the ad, because I had forgotten the name, and didn't even get the entire question out before I was corrected that this was *the* antique shop. I'm not sure if the woman working there is blissfully unaware that there's another antique shop just around the corner, but she was very friendly and eager to help me find whatever I might be looking for. I told her I was just there to browse and was left alone. Some of the items seemed a bit overpriced. I'm not sure if they think some of the things are worth more than they really are or if I'm not that good at pricing collectible objects. There was a 7pc Russian nesting doll going for almost $100 (that seems to be about right as an import, but I gotta scoff at it since I was able to buy them for ~$20 in Ukraine) and a few other things that caught my attention and held my interest just long enough to flip over the price tag and quickly walk away. However, I don't know how much the owner of the shop really has to do with marking things. As I mentioned, they rent the space out to people, so it's possible each person picks their own price and I can't blame Ruxton for having items outside of my price point.

However, I received a welcomed text stating that the repairs would cost "roughly" $185, which made my decision to have the mower repaired. I felt a little differently about my decision after I paid "roughly" $80 over the estimate which included a 4% charge for using a credit card (I never carry that much cash even on vacation) and no senior or Veterans discount. If my mower breaks down in the future it would be a tough decision to bring it back to Woods, not for the quality repairs but the cost.
