Came here with the in-laws as this was a place they'd been going to every weekend for years and…read moreyears. To them this is the Japanese Cuisine Church, and they attend every Saturday night. Then one weekend they thought they'd bring us along. I can't say that Japanese is at the top of my list as far as restaurants go. Just the way I am. However I was told that it wasn't strictly just Japanese, but there were elements of Korean too. The wife and I had never tried Bibimbap and they did look very tasty on the menu. The in-laws ordered their usually, sizzling BBQ beef and something else which looked amazing. The Bibimbap was one of those all round meals that leaves you feeling satisfied. Protein, rice, fresh vegetables all topped off with a fried egg. It came to our table lukewarm... is that normal? We guessed it was. Nonetheless a very enjoyable bite to eat. Tried some Japanese Kujyukuri Ocean pale ale beer ($10.50). A rather dull hue of dark amber. It didn't retain it's head for very long. A rich citrus flavour, quite well balanced with a smooth finish. This place also had a sushi train. I've always enjoyed watching the different dishes as they go around, its better than television. Staff were nice, wait time was minimal. I'd happily return.

We came on Friday dinner time and it wasn't busy so we were quickly seated. A positive start. We ordered two mains. They brought out the dinner box within 5 or so minutes again quite positive. Our second dish did not come out for a further 20 minutes so we decided to ask. The order was registered but somehow kitchen did not make one - the waitress explained. She did apologise for the delay. We were not too impressed but were willing to forgive and forget. Sashimi set came out soon after. There were two issues with that. Every piece of salmon sashimi had bones. My partner almost injured herself eating the first piece. Second the hygiene. Rice bowl - see the photo - had an old black seaweed stuck on the outside. You have to wonder if outside is dirty how clean the inside may be. Overall our experience was very much marred by these issues. The food was decent but not worth the price. Sake tasted somewhat diluted but it could just be the sake - if you are going for a sake don't order the third one on the menu.
