I like the beef donair more than the chicken wrap. The beef was tasty and tender. The vegetables…read moretasted extra good to me. I could taste the freshness of the parsley and the sweetness of the turnips. The red onions added a nice crunch to it. Even the tomatoes were juicy. The best part of the donair is the meat and the bread itself. The outer layer is crisp from the grill yet chewy from the sauces. The double wrapped donair also makes it less messy to eat because it holds in the sauces and juices. I like the garlic sauce but next time I would opt out of the sweet sauce. It was too sweet for my taste. Service was very good. The staff there were friendly and welcoming. Special care it put into the carving of the meats, grilling it, and assembling the wrap. To date, this is my favourite place for a donair wrap in Calgary.

It…read morewas so overcooked I could not even get a fork into it and could not break it with a piece of pita. I left almost all of it on the table and did not eat it. They also use the dreadful thin wood knives and forks. The fork would not even pierce a pepper. I had to shovel the salad into my mouth. I deliberately did not bring this up until after I paid so they would not accuse of wanting a free meal, nor did I after I paid. What I got was no response at all when I told them that the beef in the kebab was so overcooked that it was also impossible to chew. Although I did not tell them this, it was dry like beef flavoured sawdust held together with glue. The food was slopped into the container when it was brought to my table. They were not the least bit interested in what I had to say. Talk about rude. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT LIKE THE PLAGUE. DREADFUL MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD. Eau Claire market was conveniently across the street from my hotel, so I made a dash over here as soon as I checked-in, to be able to fill my hungry belly. When places have a "veggie" plate (or some variant), it makes it simple for me to decide. What a great way to try a variety of things without having to do the [sometimes laborious] task of narrowing down the options myself. The veggie plate was quite good--you get a choice of two types of rice, and falafel or eggplant. I couldn't chose, and was able to get half and half of both options! (Though I did get a bit of a funny look for this indecisiveness.) Potatoes, two salads (one cucumber, one tabouleh), and two "dips" (hummous & tzatziki) also come with it. It was filling and delicious. The eggplant was a little greasier than I expected, and the whole dish was probably not quite as healthy as I originally was anticipating, but that's quite okay. (Check out the picture I uploaded if you want to see what the veggie plate looks like.) There was a constant line of customers, it moves fast, but you may have a bit of a wait depending on what you order. It looks like all the food is ready and you should be able to go after they spoon it onto a plate for you, but a few items needed to be heated (or have some other work done), which did take a couple extra minutes of waiting around. The guys behind the counter were very nice. I would come back on a future visit to Calgary!

I wasn't sure how the donair plate was different than the donair wrap, except that it came with some sides to make it a meal rather than just the donair. As it turns out, there was no wrap involved. The donair plate is a plate full of rice (your choice of spicy or non), veggies/salad and sauces with donair meat cooked up and piled on top. Didn't see that one coming. While this wasn't quite the same as having my lamb all wrapped up, it was still quite tasty... and Babylon sure didn't skimp on the rest of the food. All in all, a satisfying and quick lunch in Eau Claire Market!
