My family had a take out night probably every other Friday (both my parents worked, you can't blame them) and mostly we'd stay within walking distance to our house but a fair few times we'd drive up to Armstrongs. It has all the usual- fish (home of the jumbo cod and all that...), sausage, pies, chips, baked beans, peas and cans of soft drink. The chips are amazing, exactly the right size, cut and frying. None of this Mcdonalds fries type nonsense that some shops are trying to get away with. Greasy goodness that you just can't ween yourself off.

And in that time, I can honestly say they've never delivered anything less than good quality food. Most recently, I visited their physical location, not only was the experience so much better, but you got to see the friendly staff firsthand putting the food together. You're able to modify a solid 75% of the menu to be gluten-free including fish, haddock, sausage, chips, spam fritters and Irish curry. The gluten-free batter is actually really good, it's actually crispy, you can tell the ingredients are quality from the fish to the well-seasoned chips. The Irish curry also goes great, it has a great thickness and has flavours without being too spicy, meaning it doesn't overpower the fish. I also felt confident eating here, as a coeliac, all the staff members are clued up on their menu, what can be adapted to be gluten-free, including cross-contamination measures, meaning I can enjoy fish and chips with my gluten-eating family, without having to worry about getting sick. I do find their 1930 closing a little early, but they are open during the early afternoon for lunch to compensate. 4* PRO TIP: Don't order via Uber Eats, phone your order through to the store and pick it up, especially if you aren't that close away, I've had so many problems with Uber (not the business' fault) and it isn't worth the hassle and expense (of Uber's additional fees - often meaning Uber make more from my order than White Fish!) I wish I went into the store all these times as Uber can mess with the quality!

It does what it says on the tin though, I got a chicken tikka kebab on naan bread with two sauces and a salad, great if you're on an empty stomach, for a mere £3.60 you can't go wrong. Their can drinks are 0.70p though. Few doors down you get a similar kebab for £3.20 and 0.50p a canned drink at Saajan's. Not sure what the hype is about. All these kebabs taste the same to me. This one in particular could have done with more spice or salt.

Balti chicken cooked nice and juice with the sauce smooth and visible fresh chopped herbs in it. I found it to be on the sour side. Maybe just me! And finally the vindaloo. WOW! These guys really pack the heat in! I could barely taste the balti after having some of the lamb vindy. Meats were ok but again I felt the sauce was too sour for my tastes. On the plus side the delivery service is fast n driver very pleasant. Not to mention it being slightly cheaper. Will be back for Round 2!
