This is a story a year in the making. I have a 2014 Jetta. I went to Mohr's last year because I needed a coolant change. It should have been an easy enough process, but I neithet the knowledge or skills to do so myself. The appointment went quickly and seemingly without a problem. I drove less than a mile before finding out that I had a coolant leak. Took it back in the next time they had an appointment and was informed that the reservoir was cracked wide open. I had Mohr's replace the reservoir. While they had my car this time they called me up to tell me that coolant started leaking into the passenger cabin, through the air conditioner, and that needed to be replaced as well... Long story short, Mohr's eventually had the entire front half of my car taken apart and put back together and I ended up paying them several thousand dollars. After all that I still had a coolant alarm going off, so I asked them about it. They 'checked' and told me that my engine was disintegrating and releasing metal into the coolant. At this point I went elsewhere. I had multiple other mechanics look over my engine. No one could find anything wrong with it. It took until today for me to find someone who could tell me why the alarm kept going off. The answer? The coolant level sensor had been inserted wrong and broke one of the pins. Thousands of dollars spent because someone broke a pin and lied about it. Do not use Mohr's. Go anywhere else. read more

They were fantastic! We were visiting Ouray when our car broke down the evening before we planned to leave. The owner of the place we were staying at recommended them. We called them in the morning to see if they could help us out and we could still get home without paying for an extra night stay. We got our car towed there and they hustled to get it fixed so we could get on the road and get back home to Denver. They were all very polite and communicated with me about what was going on. We very much appreciated how accommodating they were and got us back on the road. read more

Spencer looked right away at our 'check engine' light, read the code, and gave us a print out of the meaning. They were more than willing to work on the problem but suggested a fix that didn't cost us any money. It worked! However, I would have had them fix it as they were so upfront with us. Out of necessity went to this place cause I am from out of town. Gave me an estimate that was 3300 and never ordered the parts. Wasted 6 hours the second day when I asked if the part was even in. They checked and it wasn't even ordered. Came back to Denver and had my garage fix it for 1600. Obviously experiences vary, but price gouging out of towners is messed up. Yeah they fixed my ac but its about 50\50 if they cause another problem in your vehicle. Had my ac repaired there and less than a month later i pop my hood because my power steering went out. Turns out they overlooked the fact the power steering hose was rubbing up against the ac belt and pulley that they had installed, now a month later i have another problem caused by them that i have to fix. read more

Would never utilize this business again; my family has lived in the Montrose and Ouray area for many years. I recently relocated for work, but have been traveling with my daughter this past year and we are now in Montrose visiting family for a bit. The auto repair business I had been loyal to for years recently changed hands so we did a little research for a good place (for an Audi) to have an oil change/tire rotation and general inspection done as we are hitting the road again in a week and want to be sure all is in good working order. Not only were the expected services more expensive, we were told that we needed two flush services .... very much at the "maximum level" and mandatory. Over $500 for the services; was able to get a second opinion from the people I had used for years; turns out the great staff is still there just under new ownership. They looked right after I left Mohrs; both fluids are clean and nothing was needed or necessary! And ...that the fees for those services were way out of line! I was standing there when they did so and pointed everything out. So, not only did I feel like an idiot, but for safety reasons...I was told this was a necessity at quite the cost. As the "good" guy said; "this way of doing business is what gives us and this industry a bad name." I called Mohrs and was told "sorry you feel that way" and that was it! read more

Mid-June I was in Montrose on a work trip when my check engine light came on. It was a quick trip and the next day needed to get back to Denver. Spencer took my call and offered to take a look to at least assess if I could get home safely. He ran the check and gave me the green light to drive back and recommended I get it checked out. We cannot recommend Mohr''s Automotive highly enough ! The electrical system in our truck suddenly stopped working and we were left stranded. They responded to our call in a timely manner, were willing to tow our vehicle that day to their shop, but even tried to help us figure out the problem with the vehicle before towing it. When an on-site remedy was not possible they towed it and had the vehicle fixed and running the next day. They delivered it back to us at no charge, on a Friday evening. They provided towing, repair and true service at a reasonable price ! read more

I made a appointment with Mohrs approximately 3 weeks in advance to have a front end alignment on my motorhome. They made me a appointment for 8 a.m. on a Monday. So early Monday morning I unhooked and loaded everything up in the motorhome and left the rv park were we are staying and headed to Mohrs which was 12 miles away. When I arrived it seemed as if they were surprised to see me. I said I have a 8 a.m. appointment. So she found my work sheet and said oh I'm sorry our alignment guy laid off sick last Friday. I went to quite a bit of trouble to be there on time for my appointment. All I would have asked for was a phone call letting me know my appointment has been canceled and I need to reschedule. In addition, rather than leaving me to wait in the lounge for hours, I was given a lift home and then picked up when the car repairs were completed. My son's Jeep needed some major service while vacationing in Ridgeway. Took to dealer in Montrose and they gave the typical response that they really don't care and, "we could look at in a week". Took to another garage that could look at it in a couple hours. They could not do the work needed so recommended Mohrs just across the street. We had two days to get done before heading home so wasn't positive it could get done. These guys were great! They got the parts and got it fixed when they said they would. Who does that these days with Covid excuses? Since we were Jeeping in another one and couldn't get back Friday to pick up Adam met me on Saturday (when they are closed) to pick it up so we could have more time for family fun Friday. Adam was really nice. So rare these days to have anyone do ANYTHING on-time. Thanks! And Jeep runs great. read more

These folks are incredibly helpful and generous, and know what they are doing. I found them on the net when the Hertz rental Toyota I was driving through Colorado suddenly developed a very worrying dashboard message. They immediately diagnosed it and confirmed the problem, and told me they could easily repair it. But first they called Hertz for me, and found out that Hertz was able to swap the car for another Camry at the nearby Montrose airport, so they advised me to do that. They charged $40 for their work and expertise and judgment, which was worth vastly more to me; half an hour later I was on my way in the replacement Camry. I only hope I can someday do some more business with Mohr's. They are the kind of people you'd hope to find when you have a car problem and need help. read more

We were traveling through the area when we experienced car trouble. We called Mohrs and they said they could take a look. They squeezed us in and repaired our car. It took a couple of hours so they had one of their employees drive us out to the shopping center and come and pick us up when it was finished. They were extremely kind and helpful and did a great job getting us back on the road! read more

We are traveling in our motor home. The driver's side door glass suddenly fell into the door. I was referred to Mohrs by the local Ford dealer. We contacted Mohrs who said they could help us. We were sixty miles away and it was one o'clock on Friday. We arrived at three. These fantastic folks diagnosed the problem (broken window regulator), ordered the part, installed the new part and we were on our way in an hour. These folks are incredible. Everyone from Tom in the office, Steve the technician and Steve Mohr the owner represented the gold standard of customer service and professionalism. This company straight up stole my vehicle and i am still having to fight for them to even acknowledge me. I paid $350.00 for them to put in a new computer ($700.00) approx then i left town thinking they would work on it and i would pay the rest when it was ready. I had my in laws info to contact if they needed anything. I went back and my vehicle was gone. The owner said he gave it to people i don't even know and its gone. Last year I had this company do work on my air conditioner. The work was okay, and the price was not that bad. At the same time, I asked for a quote to change my thermostat. This simple task was priced at over $200.00. I told them no. A couple weeks ago, I thought I needed to have some work done on my brakes. I had lost fluid, and could hear a little squeak. When I called I was quoted $100.00 an axle. Well, I am not a stupid person and know there are incidentals, so I figured another $50 to $100. Then I got this little coupon in the mail for $50 off 4 wheels. Man that was a bonus. By the time I got out of this little horror show, my bill was almost $600.00. Talk about bait and switch. I needed 2 new rotors (which last time I checked were about $30 each), and a "brake line flush" what the hell whatever that is. The last time I got treated by a company like this, it was Midas, and they did the same crap 10 years ago. Mohr's, You have seen the last of my money, and I will warn any friend or relative to avoid you like the bubonic plague. read more

They upcharged my mother in law by $130 on a $180 NAPA alternator and then charged her $130 in labor to remove 6 bolts. $500 for a simple alternator replacement? No thanks. They must have seen dollar signs when my mother-in-law walked in their door. read more
