I'm an actress who does ballet, and I wanted to challenge myself - and I got that challenge. This is a team of coaches who are caring to each individual beyond anything I've ever experienced. As a person who has never touched a weight rack (is that even what it's called?) I feel challenged, informed, supported and SAFE at all times, doing something that was completely new to me. I've learned so much from the coaches about the right way to work out, the SAFE way to work out, the best way to eat for working out - things that you can find on you YouTube, but it's not anywhere near what you can learn from working out with these coaches. Todd, the owner, is incredible and is eager to work with each client to tailor their personal experience at D1. The coaches I've worked with - Evan, Ben and Marc, are all amazing at what they do. They're all very serious about what they want to get done for each individual, but each bring their own humor to the workouts so they're truly fun - even when you leave looking like you just spent an hour in a sauna. If you have kids working towards professional sports careers - this is the place to go. If you're somebody looking to get into great shape, pardon me - INCREDIBLE shape - go here. Fore-informed is fore-armed, as they say! Great friendly staff and coaches aren't too bad here. I like the studio layout, it's open and inviting and different from what I'm used to. Parking is a bit of pickle, but if you come here on weekends, there's free street parking outside. I came here for the day of the 12-minute tread benchmark challenge! Got a PR and definitely the ability to push the treads past 12 mph was a real game changer! My second visit was spot on to build strength in the areas I was concerned about . She is not a high pressured young trainer who had me doing ridiculous things beyond my ability. she seems to go with the flow but don't let that fool you. She had an eagle eye for errors in posture or form. She adjusts exercise to accommodate your body or injury . I was very impressed. I felt relaxed and not at all self conscious. The space itself is very inclusive and they take anti-discrimination seriously. Pre-Covid they weren't the most attentive to cleanliness and sometimes ran out of cleaner and paper towels in the gym but that changed during Covid and they are extremely safe and strict on that and mask wearing. Gendered locker rooms, and nice showers with expensive amenities (shampoo/soaps/air fresheners). They also have a refrigerator and a common working space which was a bit utilitarian (read: the seats are uncomfortable), but hey, it existed. Plenty of parking in front and behind the building (closer to Bear's Smokehouse, even though it's a bit of a walk). Staff is friendly, but you may find that many of the people mentioned in these reviews are no longer at DAC. I would come during off peak hours and would be able to mess with the rack (two) or treadmills if I was into that. They have also have two peloton bikes that use the LOOK Delta clips so if you have SPDs, sorry. They also have a TRX machine, but I think you need a trainer with that one. I didn't love it enough to renew my membership because the fitness center is a bit small and completely got mobbed during peak hours pre COVID, but I felt like it offered a better value than similar fitness center style clubs in the area.

For me, the gym has always been an intimidating place where I wander around guessing what exercises I think I should do, how many, and how much weight I should be using . Maybe I could eventually make some progress that way, but I have been down that road enough times to know I never get very far and end up quitting. I needed some guidance. I was nervous since I've never worked with a personal trainer before, but Arsen put my nerves at ease right away. We talked about my goal and how I would reach it, and before I knew it, I was "sitting down having a cup of coffee" -which is not as fun as it sounds - since I quickly learned this meant doing a wall squat. Arsen shows me how to do the exercises I need and most importantly how to do them properly. He provides workouts along with videos incase you forget how to do something he showed you for days you're not there ,goes over your nutrition with you, and is always accessible if you have any questions. He's professional, yet fun. I am always laughing during our sessions, even when I'm dying on the last set and he's told me I "only" have 10 seconds left about 15 times. His gym eliminates that self conscious feeling of looks from other people because when you work out it is just the two of you. Certain exercises I had to start with low weights because I'd never worked out that part of my body before, I told him I felt like a whimp, but he always reminds me that everyone has to start somewhere. He knows how it feels to be unhappy with your body, because he has been there too. His motivation and genuine interest in your success are infectious. He makes you feel super comfortable and says nothing but encouraging things. Knowing the hard work and time he puts into you as a client gives you another level of accountability. This time I feel like I won't give up, because i know I wouldn't just be letting myself down, but I'd be letting someone else down also. Most times I forget I'm paying him because it feels like working out with a supportive, knowledgeable friend. Though, instead of spending money on unnecessary material items that will lose their value in a few years as I always do, I feel like I'm finally investing in myself, something that will never lose value. My particular goal will take time, and will not be achieved overnight but I'm not worried about the time, it will pass anyway. With Arsen's guidance, I am eating healthier and already feel better about myself. I have more energy and no longer feel as self conscious going to the gym. Rest days have become my least favorite days because I am always looking forward to the next session. I am super excited to continue my journey with Arsen and feel confident that if he can help me with my goal, he can help you with yours too!
