Whatever you do do not give your healthcare and trust to Molina Healthcare. They are by far the worst healthcare company ever. Ever since after New Years in 2024 both Healthnet and Molina purposely switched me to a different provider even when I didn't permit. Let alone they call nonstop with whatever they want to call about and sending diabetic tests to people who didn't ask for it. After them switching me to a different provider that was the last straw to end my trust both with Molina and Healthnet. I don't know what they were on when they decided to join hand in hand together but in seriousness they are not helpful at all. Not sure if this is the right place to provide a good review with my recent experience with service providers from Molina Healthcare. 1. I had an annual wellness visit and Kendra - nurse that showed up was very pleasant and professional. I did not know what to expect and she clearly explained the process. She checked my blood pressure, temperature, heartbeat, and checked all my supplements and medications. Explained to me my Healthy Actions Rewards Program. 2. Wellness Team - I called to inform I completed the eligible screenings to claim the monetary rewards - spoke to Jacqueline, who was very helpful, pleasant and joyful to talk to... provided me the information and confirmed which one are available and eligible for me to claim. Needless to say... it was such a good experience and I am very pleased with the service providers I encountered during this process. They are a good addition to your staff.... read more

I do not recommend Molina for your healthcare coverage. I give them a zero out of five stars.. In the three months that I have had this health insurance, they have repeatedly suspended my coverage. My coverage started February 1, 2026. I had the insurance for about three weeks when they raised my premium by $3.70. Mine next month premium was due February 28, 2026. Without my knowledge or Covered California's knowledge Molina canceled my insurance policy. They canceled it for nonpayment. My payment was not due till February 28. And they canceled it February 28. Covered California did not find out about this till March 17. I did not find out about this till March 18. I was on the phone today April 9, 2026 to find out why in the world they suspended my account again. They said that I owe them $1000 despite the fact that I was able to provide them with canceled checks, showing that I had paid my premium. Every time I call them, it seems like the person I talk to has such a thick accent, and I can barely understand them. Anytime I have contact with them now I make copies of everything and I record the conversations. Yes I do notify them at the very beginning of the conversation that I am recording them. Worst phone service experience ever! Avoid, Avoid, Avoid this medical group. I have been transferred from one dept to another and finally they got it right. When they finally did, the rep. (kealin) did not want to wait a few minutes and wanted to leave the phone call because it's been 14 minutes already. But I was on hold or transferred for 45 minutes. All this could've been avoided if they hire personnel with knowledge about their work, or probably lack of training. I was assaulted in the lobby of Molina Health Care last Monday (11/3/2025) by one of the lobby employees. The liability is clear. It was all caught on the cameras in the lobby. There was a police report filed for unprovoked assault and battery, but Molina and their security provider seem to have no interest in returning my calls or giving me the information for their lability insurance company, so that I can get proper medical care for my injuries. This is by far the worst insurance company to deal with because it's for patients with Medi-cal. I'm trying to help a friend who was just diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. I called yesterday and spoke to a wonderful representative who clearly understood a complex situation but was unable to further help as medical offices were closed. The representative today I spoke with was dumb as dirt. Her name is Nina. What an attitude this girl had. She should not be working in customer service, clearly the wrong profession for her. She starts off by saying, " something is clearly not adding up in this situation", because she did not understand what I was asking. Then, instead of being helpful, she became increasingly rude with me. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor which she refused to do. I was asking for a HIPAA form. She made a snarky response to my mis speak. And the sad part is, she had no clue about the way she was treating me. She said the calls were recorded. I said that's great because they need to know how you speak to customers. Anyways, God help the people that have to deal with this insurance company. It's very very sad. Molina. Just the sound of it makes me cringe. It's a voodoo curse you've set upon the mean kid in high school. MOLINA. In 2017, it was one of the most affordable HMO plans offered through the ACA. Well, there's a reason they're so affordable. They pay their providers in peanuts, maybe even barter services. The administrative side of things is a complete mess. You'll get letters every month that your policy is being cancelled, even though you're set up on autopay. Then, you'll get a bill in the mail about 10 days later, and once again, you're set up on autopay. Imagine that game every month. The trees...the poor trees! It's wasteful. The few instances where I've had to call them, it's a disaster. They'll give you a circular runaround, taking no responsibility for their own mistakes. I saw two contracted providers. One was in an urgent care facility. Quick diagnosis of strep throat. RX written. Done. The downside is if you're in North County San Diego, you have two urgent care options...and they're both 40 minutes away. Oh, and they aren't contracted with the hospital that is literally within sight of my house. So, heaven's forbid you actually need medical care at 3am...good luck with that. The other practioner was 'assigned' to me. I saw one of the PA's at the office. Now, I'm not knocking PA's. I've seen tons of them, but this one was awful. All she wanted to do was have me come back for unnecessary followups. Yeah, it's easy to figure out why. Copay after copay after copay. No thanks. Molina, you give me agita. Molina approved my out-of-network referral for a neurosurgeon, then approved his request for new MRIs, then approved a vascular surgeon at the same facility, and then approved pre-op blood work. They then texted a letter of approval for surgery and sent 7 letters in the mail confirming my surgery scheduled for October 24th and 26th, which I confirmed with a verbal phone call before making all arrangements to have spinal fusion surgery. I arranged transportation, after-surgery care, and purchased necessities. I got the pre-op lab work done and now, 8 days later, my surgeon has been notified that my surgery is not covered, even though I have all the approval letters. I'm now dealing with an appeal. This is the worst insurance ever! Don't use them. This is the worst experience I've had with them, but I've had plenty of others as described in other reviews about how they never document calls, take notes, or return calls. Awful! I work in the restaurant business and have a customer that owns a blood working facility, and when I told them I had Molina, they repiled "I am sorry", they do not accept them due to bad payments. Then when I needed some other lab work done, there were no local labs that accepted Molina. Then my Dr, prescribed some meds, that Molina would ot cover Then in Dec, I canceled my coverage, 2 weekw later they still took my auto-payment, and then 30 days later send me a payment request, So I called them and explained, the rep said they would cancel and send refund. 7 days later I called about refund, and they inform me that it has not been requested, so they would do the paperwork and it would take 30 days to process. I informed them that when I pay, they get the money and it does not take 30 days, also that I canceled in mid-Dec, and they still took payment and then billed me for Feb. Molina, what a SCAM! They literally lie to you over the phone saying that the claim in question has NOT been denied YET they contact the provider over the phone to deny the claim. You phone them back and they deny denying the claim. Then the primary physician follows the necessary procedures and resubmits the request who are then told everything is fine then the claim is denied just before the appointment. Rinse and repeat the same occurs. A governing body should look closer at this nonsense and fine them out of business. My next call is to make that complaint. read more

You should get 6 weeks of PT prior to knowing your diagnosis risking injuring your back worse because the PT doesn't ACTUALLY know what they are treating. Then you can get an MRI 6 weeks of excruciating, barely able to walk pain, later! No arguing the point - that is just "their process". I would rate this ZERO stars if I could. The doctors that work with Molina in my area are awful. My primary doctor let my chronic health conditions worsen until I had to see a real doctor, i.e., private doctor. The call center is terrible, it takes hours just to talk to a person. When I had an emergency, they didn't do their job, so I was calling the hospitals to explain that my medical expenses were indeed covered by Molina. Every single issue led to an ordeal - it was like putting teeth to solve problems THEY caused. Like many, the ONLY reason I got medical insurance with Molina was to avoid paying the ACA/Obamacare fees that you'd get if you were uninsured. Soon, when that law is revoked I will dump Molina. I locate providers on their website, call to make an appointment and get told they don't take Molina. This has happened over and over ! The company has no idea which doctors are practicing in their network and proved it by sending me multiple ID cards for physicians that had not been practicing in their network for months. When I called customer service to ask for assistance locating doctors that were practicing, I was told it was "lunch time" and that I couldn't receive a call back. This is an absolutely horrific company to deal with. There is a reason there are so many one star reviews. It's not an accident. If you can help it, avoid at all costs. First, seeing an allergist was a months long process of getting bounced around to different doctors.... then finally when I was "allowed to see" an allergist they recommend 2 different allergists that no longer existed and one was closed for malpractice. THEN I changed my autopay credit card on January 9th, I got an email saying this was confirmed, they billed me on January 24th no problem, all is well...... and then the next month they didn't charge my account and terminated my coverage. No grace period, no notice, NOTHING.... and they have my credit card info! When I called to get answers, after an hour of being on hold I was told they don't know what happened and that things have been "escalated" and that a supervisor will review it in 7-10 days..... wow, sure hope nothing happens to me. I hope to get answers but I guess I'll have to hope and pray for the next week n a half that there is someone competent to figure out why I was cancelled for no apparent reason. I'm a 36 year old healthy male that rarely even needs to see a doctor. I went with Molina because they were a few bucks cheaper..... I went with Molina because the premiums were affordable...I would recommend you spend the extra money and go with another provider because this company is a huge clusterf... I went in for a blood test and the LVN ended up hitting a nerve or tendon! After 2 days in pain, I went to the urgent care in Highland for help. I wanted a follow up exam with Molina because even after my treatment at the Urgent Care, I was still in considerable pain. I was seen a week later by a nurse practitioner who DID NOT BELIEVE me. Imagine how that would feel as a patient: a medical professional who already had it made up in her mind that her patient is lying! How is that honoring your Nightengale Pledge?! She tried to trick me by looking at the wrong arm, asking me about the injection site while looking at the wrong area, and laughed at me while she told me how well she trains their nurses. She flippantly stated that she would call in for an MRI (never happened) and laughed on her way out. This visit, which cost me $70, lasted no longer than 5-7 minutes. The patient care rep Miriam, who was present the whole time, says the NP was "one of the faster providers" as she smiled at me in faux concern. I was later informed that the NP was really busy with another patient, so that's why my appointment was so short. I was incensed, as if my concerns meant nothing. Funny enough, I was aware that there was some sort of medical emergency happening on the premises, because I could hear them loudly discussing it right outside my room! Talk about a HIPAA violation!! I have filed 2 grievances to no avail. And I am still in pain. Every. Single. Day. Please, please, please...if you value your health and time, do NOT go with Molina. Their medical provider directories are outdated, their customer service agents make you feel as if you are talking to "one of the homies" as they are quite unprofessional in demeanor, and they do not value you as a patient. Molina Healthcare is the absolute WORST healthcare company I have ever experienced in my life. The doctor lists provided to patients are inaccurate and not up to date which causes numerous hours of wasted time. Doctors that I tried to make appointments with had nothing but negative things to say about Molina and how they do not want to work with them anymore. Even after making many formal complaints, Molina Healthcare did little about it and was unable to provide services to me that I requested. Nearly 6 months and no doctors could see me. Molina doesn't really seem to care. It is Molina's responsibility to be vigilant and help patients see the doctors they need and they failed terribly. I would not give them a rating. In Fact a minus 10, this is minus 4. I began with Molina in the beginning of January 2022. I did as required, seen my General Doctor. I was to go to a few specialists for a broken ankle from a year ago. Since I changed insurance ( I was also having issues with the former insurance under medi cal). I had to re establish new referrals with a few of my specialists. Since my former orthopedic Dr. had information about my history. I had to request a grievance with Molina and Vantage/Prospect group. It started in April 14 and was to be reviewed with the former Dr. that was my surgeon. I had given them a few more weeks to situate the information. My assessment of this medical insurance issue so far has terrible!!!! It has been 6 months and I can barely get an appointment without being on the phone for 4 - 5 hours. This is each time. It usually ends up in false phone numbers, false referral numbers , false information. I just talked to the referral dept at the clinic and he gave me a disconnected phone number. I could not get an answer about the grievance , they have given me the same information I asked for a few months ago. They also said that there was nothing in the system about a grievance . The grievance information the answer was vague. It was the same response : Your Dr is out of the required demographics. So, after agreeing to see the required Dr's that I was referred to. I called the numbers they had sent me again . After sitting on the phone again for 3-4 hours. I am getting the same response. Each time I call, I am hoping this gets resolved. So, many departments I need to call, and when I do call they do not follow through. Molina insurance is unprofessional so many times I have been hung up on. My best advice: Pay for regular insurance it's not worth the headache. Either that: Write your congressman to change these laws because of how the medical system is being controlled. Including : Medi cal Drs do not want to accept medi cal patients. They will not tell you this, all medi cal will accept the service but so much red tape, and unprofessional information. As long as your request is general then the issue will be resolved. It is really terrible if you are requesting a specialist. Update: I finally have an appointment with the corresponding Dr. BUT...my referral number will be up since it's a time sensitive referral. My appointment is a month later in August. The office said they have called me 3 times in there notes. I have not seen any messages in my inbox. I save all my messages. As I have explained. It has been super confusing, because Molina has sent me updated cards several times with different Drs on the Molina Insurance. Also, Dr's office is also confused in the referral dept. I have recieved incorrect phone numbers connecting to the corresponding Dr . I was corresponding with Molina Health Insurance and the Drs office . Both seemed confused. When I called back to Molina to tell them the numbers were incorrect. Molina provider/customer service gave me different Dr's offices and numbers. I asked her will this work, she said yes. Then I called another Molina Customer service tech. she said you were accepted for the Hospital we gave you a referral number to. But wrong number. I have to search around and do research on numbers and depts. In referring to professional help and requesting a referral from the Dr. I have been following their directions. Since I receive mail with the corresponding Dr. BUT... information changes because some Dr's do not accept Molina anymore. They do not update their database. Everyone is confused. I usually sit on the phone several hours just to get a simple appointment. After awhile I think the offices just give you random advice and they don't want to deal with it. I also get reference numbers to the people I talk to at Molina. I've been told those reference numbers that where fake and the names to people I've spoken to are fake also. I take notes and put time down, who I have spoken to and information given. My assessment about Molina. They don't want to be called out on their inconsistency and ....???? My Molina Healthcare experience has been absolutely horrible thus far. To be fair, I will state that I have been speaking with the OHIO branch of Molina Healthcare. I submitted paperwork to have my daughter listed as my Power of Attorney and was verbally told by on Friday (9/8/17) by phone that it would take 24 hours to process and as a safety precaution, wait until Tuesday (9/12/17) to follow up to give an extra day for processing to be completed. Unfortunately, 9/12/17 came only to be told that incorrect processing information was provided and that the Molina policy is 72 hour processing for POA paperwork and as of today they are behind and it would take 3-5 days before the paperwork could be processed. After 40 minutes on the line with membership services, Jessica (supervisor) has contacted the Compliance Dept and confirmed that the POA paperwork that was submitted on 9/8/2017 has been received and they will expedite the paperwork however it is unknown when the paperwork expedition turnaround will be (assuming that it gets approved - since I don't have any idea why it would not be approved since it has been used for the last 5 years). The bureaucracy is ridiculous and horrible. I am getting my POA involved because the customer service gives old ladies the runaround when calling. If you have disabled kids or adults that you need to get care for this is the worst plan to go with. An adult patient is in pain and needs to get medicine immediately. Yet Molina denies doctors requests. Patient is in need of incontinence supplies, Molina denies doctors request. If you try calling them, they loose documents that allow others to speak for the patient and deny callers. Tell them to send documents and forms in again. And even if we send it with certified mail, they still manage to loose it and get away with it. It all takes time, while the patient is suffering, and they care less. Molina is a joke. Seriously. Don't even consider getting them. It would be better to have NO insurance than to pay their ridiculous prices for their terrible service. I called a doctor and asked if they accepted Molina. The secretary laughed. No. No they do not. I was taken aback. The doctor that Molina provided me as my primary caregiver was this doctor's office. They assigned me to a doctor that doesn't even accept Molina? Dear lord, I cannot wait to switch plans. Molina is trash. read more

Among all the other reviews, I'd like to just add my warning that this company is awful. I am paying an extra $50 in premium every month to have another company over this one. DO NOT enroll with them. Their systems do not work properly. They will constantly transfer you or put you on hold. No department has any idea what to do with your situation except transfer you to another department. All I ever hear when I call in is, "I can't do that." What can they do? Take your money and that's it. read more
