Rostock Central Station originally opened in the late 1800s and has since then been renovated…read moremultiple times. Today it has long-distance, regional, and tramway services. My husband and I were on a cruise excursion that left on a train out of this station. Our train was rented by the cruise line, so we did not have to purchase tickets ourselves. The station had many signs that listed the train number, destination, and time. The staff efficiently guided the many tourists onto the train. The train ride lasted over two hours, but it was tolerable because the seats were spacious enough. I do wish, however, that the train had more toilets.

I've visited a lot of train stations around the world, and for a regular train station not in a…read moremajor city, this is a good one. Lifts and stairs to all platforms, well signposted and a decent number of ticket machines. Also worth nothing is the number and variety of shops here. I was stuck here over lunchtime and it was no hassle. There's some street food outside and a bakery both inside the station and just outside it on the side towards the river.
