If anyone knows me...they know I'm a sucker for good fried chicken. I have been a road warrior the…read morelast few years and have visited several PW and always awed at the fried chick through the deli glass. It's not the easiest thing to eat while driving, so I never took the leap. On this particular visit, I was not in a hurry and had time to kill. It was time to sit and enjoy. The deli was crowded yet running efficiently, I had that crispy gold in a box and was out the door in no time. Let me tell you...this was some of the best fried chicken ever, all this time I had been missing out on fried chicken heaven. The outside was crunchy and flavorful , the inside was moist and tender. I sat in the parking lot enjoying the masterpiece. Before I knew it, I had eaten 5 pieces. If you ever have a chance, you must grab some. The pig is now on my list of must stops while traveling.

After not being able to reach the Burgaw Piggly-Wiggly, I called the Richlands location. I had the pleasure of speaking to Customer Service Representative Chad who volunteered to go search for the rolls. He returned to the phone to ask me how many I wanted and I replied that I needed 3 packages. I explained to him that the trip to the store would take 45 minutes one-way and he offered to hold 3 of the packages for me until I could arrive. When I arrived, Chad was at the register and when I reached out to him he was just as nice, professional, and knowledgeable as he was over the phone. I had several other items I needed to pick up and he volunteered to show me where they were located but I stopped him from doing that as it was very busy. I wanted to extend my sincere gratitude to Chad for his exemplary representation of your organization. He was polite, respectful, and he knows how to treat customers as well as his peers. I watched him organize the front area while I was there and he used the same demeanor with every person he spoke with. Please give him a pat on the back and let him know that his skills, attitude, and competency will take him far in life and that he will be noticed by others. You should be proud that you have such an excellent employee!

I picked up a VIC card at Customer Service and only had to wait a couple minutes behind another customer. Registration was fast and painless - I was prepared to answer a slew of tedious questions, but all the associate needed was the basic info off my driver's license. First stop was the produce dept, which has an amazing variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. My guinea pigs thank you for the very large, fresh and crispy heads of Red Leaf and Romaine Lettuce! The deli area has a wonderful selection of meats, sauces and dressings, and especially cheeses! I love it like a rat and will definitely return for more! I didn't buy anything in the bakery but was sorely tempted by the coconut cakes. (Next time for sure!) There were delicious cakes, bagels, doughnuts and fresh breads on display. The meat market is excellent and has an impressive inventory of seafood! Now I know where to come for fish and seafood. The deviled crabs (which weren't on our list, but were irresistable) were yummy. The dairy department is one of the best I've seen in Wayne County, with a wide selection of milks, dips, cheeses, yogurts, eggs and such. Whatever you need, they probably have. Same for the frozen foods. The grocery aisles were easy to access, which is great if, like me, you sometimes (or always) use a wheelchair. Again, the variety of choices is excellent. Prices were a bit higher on some items than than Wal-Mart or Food Lion, but the atmosphere is very pleasant and the store is clean and has well-marked aisles. Checkout was wait-free and our checker was a very nice young lady who got us rung up and sacked up quickly. We really liked this store and we will definitely be back for more.

Our food (four subs) was STILL not ready for another 30 minutes. There was a steady line of in person customers, of course, but they had three workers actively making subs, and all three of them appeared to be prioritizing the in-person line. Only sporadically did they work on our online order, even though they were already behind on our order & those in line had only just arrived. Three other customers who had placed online orders arrived while we were waiting and were still waiting when we left. We finally got our last sub just as they finished serving their last customer in line. Again, this was 30 minutes after we had arrived, 30 minutes after our food was supposed to be ready, and fully an hour and 15 minutes past when our order had been originally placed. This was quite frustrating. I appreciate that the workers appeared to be doing their best, and they did apologize for the wait, which I also appreciate. But I could have gotten my food within 15 minutes if I had just gotten in line with everyone else. I'm not sure what the point is of having online ordering available, if the food isn't going to be ready when promised and the online orders are going to be so deprioritized compared to the in-person orders. Either they need to change their "ready by" times or they need to change their workflow. I will say, the sandwich, which was a vegan turkey situation, was absolutely delicious. I just wish I hadn't had to stand for 30 minutes and watch them make food for other people when our order had already been pending for longer than anyone in line.

It's hilarious to me -- and honestly very fitting, considering I'm married to someone from…read moreRochester -- that my 1,000th Yelp review is for Wegmans. I don't usually review grocery stores, but I genuinely love Wegmans, and this location in particular is fantastic. The store is always immaculate, the staff are consistently friendly and helpful, and it's usually very well stocked every time I go. I'll agree with other reviewers that Wegmans can feel a little pricier than some other grocery stores, but I've never actually sat down and compared receipts because, frankly, I love the products they carry. At this point, I'm a forever Wegmans girlie. Also, they keep sending me 10% off coupons, so apparently the marketing team knows exactly what they're doing -- because I absolutely will drive farther than necessary for a good grocery experience. Beyond the standard grocery selection, their prepared foods section is HUGE, and the sushi is genuinely good. Grocery store sushi can be a gamble, but Wegmans does it so well they even opened their own sushi restaurant in NYC, which is a pretty fun flex. As a bonus, they carry all the essential Western New York staples: Chiavetta's sauce, Spiedie sauce, kummelweck rolls, Zweigle's whites and reds, Bills merch, Weber's mustard, Labatt Blue and Blue Light, plus several Finger Lakes wines. Big fan!

Well, if you know you know. And I could end my review there but you opened my review up to read…read moresooooooo ... F what you know about grocery stores because Wegmans is the King of High End Grocery. I'll immediately tell you that my star bump is because of cost and no dining at this location ("trust me bro", that's not really a major deciding factor). I've been to locations that offer up dining and amazing draft beer options, and costs at Wegmans aren't for the faint of heart but, in my Jim Carey voice, "lemme tell you somethinnnnn" ... their options will appease all types of food diets. Hands down, they have the BEST sushi options around. Fresh rolls, fresh sashimi, fresh nigiri ... the freshest and best you'll get at a non-Asian grocery store. Now you'll pay close to restaurant prices but it's well worth it. That is why I keep coming back to this location. And for beer and wine snobs, they got yo butt covered! I'd say 10-15% of the store is just wine and beer. Domestic and Foreign, as well as local. Gluten free brats, eat your heart out! I wandered down the gluten free aisle and got me some goodies! Gluten free Oreos and cereal . Wegmans brand is like a top tier option from Publix brand. And that's saying a lot, considering Publix brand is a galaxy away from Kroger brand. There are so many savory options here, including all the buffet stations. Listen, I just left here for my 5th time in (out of town but visiting for work) and will need to stop my review before my tummy forces me back there. Those in the know ... you're lucky to have this as an option here. Those out of the loop ... get some!!
