Jen, the owner of the GNV Movement Studio, is very nice and is definitely bringing a fresh energy of life to the city. The studio has men and women's locker rooms, along with a wait room/stretch room with a pilates reformer machine. The dance studio is an incredible space, very spacious. The studio offers a variety of classes such as hip hop, ballet, tap, contemporary, and my personal favorite - cardio line dance. The instructors are credible and know their stuff. My mom and I are regulars on Monday night for cardio line dancing with Wanda, who teaches classic line dances like Wobble and Cha cha slide and new line dances that are easy for all levels. It definitely is a great low impact workout but also so much fun. My mom and I always have a great time working up a sweat here. After your class, Jen has these marvelous cold towels that are refreshing to cool you down after your dance class. My personal favorite is the lavender towel. It fills a much-needed void in the community for 18+ year old dancers. Whether you are an experienced dancer or you are just curious about a certain style, this is the place for you. It's such a positive atmosphere. There are lots of different kinds of classes. The space is HUGE! The instructors are very friendly, the classes are judgment free, and the owner has thought of everything. From cold lavender towels, to coffee, to an entire room devoted to stretching, they have covered it all. There is even a subscription plan where you can pay monthly to go to various classes at a discounted rate than the normal drop in price.

First I went to the four week beginners' class and it is quite a big, popular class. You don't need to go with a partner although many people do, since you switch partners with almost every song. In the beginners' class, we were taught about 8 different dances. In the intermediate I classes, there is focus on a different dance each week. Always beginning with the basic steps, a demonstration and then practice with different partners adding more and more steps. The teachers are very good, patient and fun. You can pay a monthly fee which includes the practice time on Tuesdays or pay per lesson. Price information and which dances are being taught are on their website. The Tuesday practices are good to practice with people of all different levels and practice what you learnt during those lessons. I like the atmosphere of the school with the professional, fun teachers and the students are all kinds of people of all different ages.

On two occasions class was stopped in the middle: one time to take care of a business transaction with someone not attending class and another for a more social reason. One night I showed up at the scheduled time, even checked the sign on the door to make sure I had not made a mistake. Apparently the class was cancelled with no notice/no sign on the door to let people know. There seems to be a core of regulars, and I am glad that they continue to support this business. However, if you are looking for professionalism and punctuality this isn't the place for you.
