Well spaced out and stock was clear and organized. My girlfriends after a wig so ive seen a few of these places and im starting to wonder how they could do things differently. It hit me in this one: Customer Service. Out of all the shops we've been in this might be the first one with a shop keeper to ask what we were looking for an engage in a conversation. Made all the difference. Still no wig though.

I don't usually purchase many cosmetics i.e. make-up items like foundation but I do love things like lipstick and nail varnish- and Beauty Queen Cosmetics offers a range of beauty products and hair products. I normally go to Beauty Queen on Soho Road for lipstick and nail polish, especially as they sell brands like Sleek which has only just started appearing in a couple of the mainstream cosmetic shops. For black women, it's sometimes really difficult to get beauty products for your skin or lipsticks that stand out on your complexion. This store is always pretty busy; it's the only one on Soho Road. One slight criticism I would say is that sometimes the staff can be a little too in your face, trying to get you to buy products. I wish sometimes they'd just give you some time to have a look in peace and then you'd have a better idea of what you want. When I went in the store last week, I ended up walking out and didn't buy anything because I felt too pressured.

They have a random selection of cheap cosmetics that tend to be in retro shades - Pat Butcher from Eastenders comes to mind! Although some of their eye-shadows and nail varnishes are interesting because bright colours are trending. Oddly enough, towards the back of the shop there is a post office so you can get your postal needs as well as grooming products under one roof!

From this point on Kings Heath knew that they'd got their own top-notch independent health food shop. Yum. And yum. They've got ingredients like sauces, pastas, rices and flours. Well-balanced snacks. A fridge packed with fruity drinks. Shelves of pates and spreadables. There's sooooo much more than food. Xover, (pronounced 'crossover'), have beauty products galore, like face masks, bath bombs and essential oils. All with an emphasis on cruelty-free, organic and vegan. Vitamin supplements too. Vegannaise, and Tartex for me today. At the counter Charlotte asks if I'd like to see anything in the shop. She's wise to putting the customer first, ya see, and she's keeping a list of what customers ask for. So next time I go in, there might well be some VPud, small bags of vital gluten, (all hail Seitan), and chick pea flour. We've been crying out for a shop like this. The green chain store might have more lines, but I find it's a bit clinical for me. With over 1,000 different lines, Xover actually stock most of what I might go into Holland and Barrett to buy. They specialise in health and beauty products at rock bottom prices, usually because the items they sell are last seasons colour or discontinued items. I'm not an icon of fashion so couldn't really care less about what season I'm in when it comes to lipstick or mascara, so the bargains to be had are absolutely amazing. The stock changes so regularly that I couldn't possibly tell you what you might find in this branch on any particular day. Whenever I visit I stock up on shower gels, bubble bath, body spray and the occasional household product - when my beauty products allow me to, of course! What I love about Savers is the fact that the prices of things are so great, a bottle of Charles Worthington shampoo recently cost me just £1 whereas the same bottle (in this years 'shade') costs almost a fiver in Boots. You can buy Impulse body spray for 79p in this shop too, granted they are scents which disappeared from the shelves some six months ago but who really cares about that when you're saving such a lot of money. Another brilliant buy in here is the Montagne Jeunesse facial treatments which are 99p in the supermarkets but are sometimes as cheap as 29p in Savers! Just before Christmas I stocked up on loads of top name gift sets in Savers and gave them out as Christmas pressies, also having enough over for my daughters' to hand out to select friends. The sets were only £2 - £3 each and when I checked in Boots very similar sets were going for almost a tenner The only thing I dislike about Savers is the general condition of the store. It never really looks clean to me and the shelving units are old and in disrepair, even appearing rusty in places. It needs a refit desperately, but if it means them putting their prices up then I hope they just leave it as it is!

There are also deodorants you can purchase and the prices of products I have to say are definitely affordable. If you are looking for variety in hair extensions and wigs, this is the place to visit in my view. Although this is a big shop, the passageways here are very narrow and there were times where I struggled to get past fellow customers. Considering this is a shop that specialises in cosmetics and is targeted at predominately females, I was surprised to see the majority of staff working here are male. But despite this they do know their stuff. Customer service is second to none and they will help you out.

The lady who did my nails was really bubbly and we chatted about nails and beauty treatments in general. She was good at her job as she made me want to try out all the treatments in the salon! As part of my manicure she massaged my hands and arms and it was SO good, I felt very relaxed and pampered afterwards. The price was £15.00 which is not too bad for a manicure and I have paid more than that before. I would visit again if I was in the area because the service was good and my nails looked fabulous!

What I didn't like was how my original nails were drilled down within an inch of their life!
