We have persevered with this Company for over three years. They have nickeled and dimed us all the way. They sometimes never show up and sometime if they do they mess up the timers and leave the gate unlocked and wide open etc. Last time they came they over chlorinated our pool so much we have not been able to use it for 3 days and have had to leave it running for 72 hours and drain water, add water to try and lower the chlorine. Upon complaining they had no apologies and then called us saying that they wanted to part company with us. They then had the audacity to send us an email saying that we have cancelled the contract with them, and another bill! Do not use these people. read more

Worst place ever to work in,management has no experience in running pool cleaning department

We used these guys to build our pool 5 years ago as they are one of the few companies I could find that build small pools in the inner loop area as most pool builders are out in the suburbs. They, in general, do a high quality job and the cost is pretty astronomical. I won't say what our small 6000 gallon pool cost but it was a lot. We have been happy with it and it's been great for the kids. But recently our filter started leaking a lot when the pump was running. And to make a long story short, it's bc the concrete pad that Monarch placed to hold all of the pumps, the filter, and the heater had settled a lot on one side causing it to be tilted and thus lifting the filter off pad at the water outlet connection and putting all the weight of the water-filled filter on the connection instead of the ground causing it to spew water. A repairman identified the problem and shimmed the filter on the pad to stop the leak, but the pad is still tilted and all my pumps need to be shimmed for now until the pad can be leveled. When I called the owner of Monarch and asked if it was covered under my 5 year structural warranty he said no. He said he sees pads settle even worse than mine. I said if u see pads fail on luxury pools that owners trust u to do a hi quality job on this infrastructure project, then why don't you pour a footer or some piers for the pad to prevent this? He said oh the pad didn't fail, Mother Nature won. Er... okay. Same thing right? So now I'm stuck with getting someone out here to level the pad so that I maintain the resale value of my home. I have used Monarch to build several large pools. They have always done a great job. In and out in no time compared with other contractors. When you are shooting the shell or plastering the finish they bring in the crews and do it right. if you know what you are looking for they can provide it. read more

During this last week due to the Texas Winter Storm Uri, our pool pipes froze as we lost power for several days. Upon getting electricity back, Monarch Pool reviewed all its pool service clients' pools unsolicited to assess damage. Our pool had only a minor issue from the storm and was fixed the Monday following the weekend assessments. You could not have asked for better service. Also, our weekly pool service, is outstanding! I have never had a complaint. read more

They're right around the corner, available and reliable. The PVC just upstream of my Polaris pump's intake springs a leak - 1/2 day later it's fixed and they've mailed me the invoice. Just this morning, I called them at 9:00 because my main circulation pump isn't pumping and my pool is taking on a slightly distasteful greenish hue. Before noon, the technician calls me to report he's replaced a small part (spark arrester assembly, I think) and has charged the minimum in labor. The invoice is in the mail... Monarch Pool tried to over charge me and get me to replace my heater when all it needed was a repair which was less than 20% of the cost of a new heater. They also made a repair and charged me for a part (over double what other companies quoted) that I never authorized repair on. Very disappointed in the "scam" and lack of integrity. read more

As others have stated, if zero stars were an option, that would be my choice! The quality of service at this place is a joke! We have been using them for years and I don't know if there has been a change in management or what, but the service has gone from mediocre to complete crap. Our pool is supposed to be cleaned 3 times a week and yet I have to call repeatedly to have them come back out after the guys have left because the pool is turning green. They have replaced equipment only to have it break a few months later. The girls in the service department, specifically Elsa are rude an not helpful. I would stay as far away from this sham of a business as possible. read more

As with the other reviews I have seen recently, I just stopped my service with Monarch Pools for bad performance. I caught the Pool service people just brushing and not testing the water and issuing a fake report. They spend maybe 2 to 4 minutes at your pool for $40 service fee. Their people keep leaving and are understaffed. Clare in the office claims she provided Customer Service and they sent a manager to my pool to test the water their people did not do but offered no compensation. I test my own pool since you can't trust Monarch to test correctly. The also replaced a pump that costs $240 on the internet and charged me $540 with additional installation fees. All you get are many excuses ..... read more

By far one of the worst experiences I've had with a business. The work performed was incomplete and subpar and when I tried to call to resolve the issue the technician never returned my call and the service manager did nothing but say the same thing over and over again. I ONLY went with this company because it was a referral from a friend. If you want to pay $125 for incomplete work then this is the place for you, otherwise, save your money... You might be better off picking someone up on the side of the road, or off Craigs list. read more

Very frustrating conversation with the owner of Monarch pools refusing to take responsibility for problems with the pool that started a year after pool was finished and just recently (have had the pool for 5 yrs) had to replace my Polaris line because the wrong material was used when first done. Owner couldn't find original records, said I never called about plaster problem. He basically told me everything I said was not true. My pool just had over $2000 of repair work done replacing polaris line and still needs to be replastered because of terrible stains that have continued over the last 4 years. I was told by another pool repair company that the rebarb bled through and the owner refused to look or acknowledge that it could happen even if I had a second company confirmed it was the rebarb. I would never use this company again..... even if none of the problems ended up being Monarch's responsibility .....because of the defensive and rude way I was spoken to by the owner of Monarch pools. Monarch built my pool and two fountains 27 years ago and has been servicing them ever since. The field and office employees are always so nice, speedy service, and dependable. Two years ago I had Monarch update all the original pool equipment. The installation was seamless and the cost was reasonable. Hurricane Harvey just came our way and it was a reminder of what a good company Monarch is. Lightening affected my pool control panel during the 3 day long storm. I called their closed office that Sunday and left a message for guidance on lowering the water. I promptly received a response via email from Claire with detailed information about how to resolve my problem during the storm. She even followed up to offer further online help. Then despite difficult road conditions Monarch's electrician showed up the day the storm ended to repair my pool panel ! The pool cleaners appeared the next day. I was impressed! This dedication to their customers--under difficult post Hurricane conditions --- is just another reason why I have been a customer of Monarch Pool Services for 27 years. read more

Less than zero stars for me. It is really a shame that they care so little. At one point this company was one of the best in Houston. Now they are beyond incompetant and I would never use them or recommend them. They left my pool so out of balance in the PH that it deteriorated my plaster and all of my equipment beyond repair. I am shocked by their lack of professionalism and integrity. I would not trust them with anything. They have a different person every week that is employed by them for maintenance and they never know what they are doing. There are many other choices for maintenance and construction of pools and I will never use Monarch again. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of speaking with the owner of Monarch pools. He was one of the rudest people I have ever spoken with in regards to a problem with a product or service from a company. Monarch finished an installation of a pool (originally started by Monarch) that had been started and never finished many years earlier by a different home owner. Within the first year of the finished pool, the plaster had started to stain because of improper treatment of the existing material already there. Now, almost 6 years later the pool is full of stains and needs to be re-plastered and the owner refuses to acknowledge that it is their problem or mistake. I also had to replace the pipe for the polaris that was installed by Monarch and was told that was impossible because Monarch pools doesn't use that material. Well.... they did. The owner was very argumentative, defensive and basically said everything I told him wasn't possible. It will take over $8000 to fix the improper finishing of my pool. I am a small business owner and can't imagine ever speaking to a customer the way this man spoke to me. read more
