Stayed here for two nights, the owner who checked us in was really friendly. We requested a quiet room on the first floor and that's what we got, which we appreciated. The room itself has the basics, two beds, a pretty small bathroom, mini-fridge, and desk with chair. Wifi worked just fine, beds were comfortable. Location was good, very close to downtown. read more

Clean and warm beds. Good water pressure. But the furniture is old and drawers are falling apart. Terrible communication and not an accomodating stay. Room doesn't come with kettles and the office which has hot water only opens at 8, no microwave in room. The office is only open in random hours depending on their personal schedule so you don't have any common area to hang out in. No housekeeping unless requested and they give me a whole rant about how it's a big deal. Every request I've made, regarding basic needs like access to hot water earlier, office hours, etc. have been treated like a grandiose demand. They will push back on your requests as much as possible to do less work. They're not here to make your stay comfortable, you're here to not be a bother. This place is on one of the lower rates in town, but definitely not cheap. Yet they treat you like a guest who is staying at their place for free. The staff takes everything personally, they're unable to take feedback as a business professionally. Granted, they seem understaffed but perhaps they should consider reducing their capacity accordingly. read more

I would not recommend staying here. There are plenty of wonderful hotels in Revelstoke with decent customer service. This is not one of them. After a mixup resulted in me booking into another hotel, I tried to explain why I had not shown up for my reservation. It felt like I was talking to a robot. Even after the owner admitted the hotel was not fully booked the night I had reserved (and they did not turn anyone away by holding a room for me), he refused to reimburse me any money. They obviously do not care about their guests and their hard earned money. In my experience when the owners are rotten, the business is rotten. I'm happy in the end to have dodged the bullet of staying in a rotten hotel and hope that this review will save you from a terrible experience. Thank goodness for Consumer Protection. read more

Worst experience of my life. We were passing through town and needed a place to stay, all the other hotels and motels were fully booked so we decided to give this one a try. We went in and filled out the reservation form but when we came back 5 minutes later to pay, he met us outside to say he'll pass. Super rude and wouldn't even give us an explanation. Don't recommend to anyone ever. read more

As a former bed and breakfast owner in New York City I know as well as anyone how difficult this business can be, and it takes a special individual/s to get it right, and Dean and Kathleen, the new owners, are as well suited as you will find. They were as accommodating and as charming as can be, and went above and beyond to assure that my stay was as pleasant as can reasonably be expected at this price. I try to treat all my reviews from the point of view of value -- and for my money I got more than I bargained for. Rooms were spacious and clean with comfortable beds, and the location was fantastic, that is to say on a quiet street and close to everything that is Revelstoke, an area I have become fond of as a visiting skier in recent years. Word has it that they are intending to make some improvements, but for now I can only judge the property on what they provide and not on what they don't provide, and given the competition out there, I rank them at the top in this price range. Make no mistake it's basic, but if you want a clean efficient spot at reasonable rates, as well as to spend your money on that increasingly scarce entity, the 'owner-operated business,' then look no further than the Monashee Lodge. read more
