Both jars were still sealed & the best before date was July 2025. But the product was clearly spoiled. When I went to use them I noticed the colour didn't seem right. The cashier was flat out rude. "With no receipt how do we know you bought it here?" It's YOUR STORE BRAND! She flippantly agreed 'yes it clearly looks spoiled but no receipt no refund.' I explained again I didn't want a refund just to exchange them for unspoiled ones. She was completely unapologetic. Nope nothing I can do. After I gave up & walked out & went to Walmart to shop instead it occurred to me she kept them & the store will simply send them back for a credit because they are spoiled. So they totally ripped me off. Not a huge amount. Less than $5 but the attitude was enough for me. Stores are cheating customers more & more.

When I returned home my wife went through the invoice and noticed that I was charged through at $9.99. I immediately returned to the store and asked for the manager. He met me at the meat counter opposite the bread department. He explained that the price was $9.99 the same price as the meat balls plaque indicated. The meat ball plaque indicated $9.99 for meat balls-there was no mention of price for Italian sausage outside what I saw was $5.00. There was no admit or apology of wrong pricing or confused pricing. He says the $5.00 pricing was for some canned goods. I do believe that the customer deserves the right to have items more clearly priced-I would not have bought this item at this price plus I incurred additional expenses including another trip to the store. Shopping in Arnprior is sure becoming more challenging - incorrect pricing, competitive pricing and lack of inventory.

"Freshmart" is the only grocery in town. It is known by the locals as "Stalemart". That is because…read morethe produce always looks like it is a few weeks past it's prime. Check out my pictures for a typical bunch of green peppers that they have on display. Also the roof is leaking and they catch the water with buckets as you can see on the top shelf in my picture. Honestly the ceiling looks like it's about to cave in!!! A good quality grocery store would be a welcome addition to this town...instead of this dump. Update a year later. NOTHING has changed. Mouldy green peppers are just normal for this store.

The new owners are certainly trying their very best to offer good & local products, along with good…read moreservice. Their student-staff are very helpful and help carry groceries out to the car. The owners have certainly improved their fresh meat department. The bakery and deli area are always fresh. They try to bring in local produce as often as possible. Its' the only grocery in town and when you need just a few things it is a good little spot. It's not a place that I'd do a 'big' grocery-shop for all our family needs but it does the trick 'in a pinch'.
