Prices tend to be on the expensive side especially when buying a prime cut of steak but the meat is top quality, so give them a try. I'm sure you'll be pleased. Also inside is Vera's Burgers. One of the best hamburgers in Ottawa. My buddy Brian and I go there several times a year and enjoy the great food. I'm upset that they stopped selling Coke in the glass bottles. I just discovered The Butchery. What a revelation!…read more The shop is clean and attractive, with a very long display of many dozens of cuts of meat, many marinated. I bought a marinated flank steak that was amazing on the BBQ tonight. They also carry some great sauces, including my favourite Rufus and Teague Blazing Hot sauce. You can buy frozen pies from The Big Apple, which are the best pies around. They have a burger shack inside....sadly I was too early. Some other time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the boss a really good man. This was a great discovery and I will happily drive the 25 km to get there. Very highly recommended.

Took a drive out to Almonte to stop by Don's to pick up some dog food. They sell raw dog food in…read morechicken, turkey and rabbit. They had both, just the meat and meat and veggies. The prices are quite good, cheaper than what I've been able to find at a pet store. They prices vary depending on the animal, as well quantity. You get a volume discount at various weights. One good thing is they all come in smallish 1-2 lb bricks so even if you bought 40lbs it would be in many smaller manageable pieces that are easy to thaw as you need. This was our first time at the shop and the nice woman behind the counter explained all their various options to us. We decided on the chicken and got just a brick each of the rabbit and turkey to try. She ended up throwing in the rabbit and turkey at no charge to see if our dogs would like it, that was very nice and unexpected. The rest of the meat looked pretty good and I picked up a couple sausages as well. They're going on the bbq today so I'll update later with how they were but they smell quite good. If you feed your dog raw food give this place a look. Their prices are quite a bit cheaper than I've found in pet stores and the product looks great.
