I was a total beginner, and after an evaluation session, was placed into a group class with people a lot more experienced than I was. The trainer also was not friendly at all. When I asked a her to show me how to tack up, which was only my second time doing it, the trainer got impatient and said "you forgot everything from last time huh?" During another class, the trainer also complained that she thought she'd be riding her own horse instead of teaching today. Hope they improved their training now.

I recently fell and was lying in the arena in pain for several minutes. 911 was not called and the instructor did not come by to do safety checks. I was urged to get up and shake it off by folks watching the lessons. Fortunately Im ok but people taking lessons should beware.i could have had a serious back injury. I also question their ability to assess new riders and what skills they should practice when taking lessons.

First off, the location is amazing. It is less than a 10-minute drive from my work in downtown Redmond. I need to emphasize what a benefit this is because most of the horse places are far off in Woodinville or even farther in Monroe. And if you want something close in Kirkland, be prepared to pay more for keeping your horse there than your own mortgage. Every horse gets turned out in a pasture to graze every day and are stalled at night. There are a couple of stalling options including a 16x32 stall and run outdoors for $700 (really good value). The other option is an indoor stable with daily shavings for $800. Boarders also get really generous lockers for storing tack. There are two arenas, one indoor and outdoor. I never rode in the indoor arena for a couple of reasons. The arena is very small and narrow. With a large horse, you have to make a lot of tight turns. Additionally, the wall is made of hard cement material, versus a wood, so if a horse kicked the wall for any reason, this could make for a very bad injury. The outdoor arena is great, but the only problem is that it's outdoors... and we are in Washington. I've enjoyed the outdoor arena in the warmer months, but it's a shame when it rains. There are two round pens for turning your horse out or even riding. One of the best parts about this facility is that there is a trail that goes around the property that's about a mile long. The community itself is incredible. Everyone is really friendly, and you don't get the common barn drama that you will find in many locations. All of the staff members are also knowledgeable and work well with the animals. I'd definitely recommend checking out Willowcrest if you are looking for a place to board your horse. However, I will caution you about the arena situation, given that it rains a lot and then indoor arena isn't great.

They care a lot about the safety of the horse and the rider. The horses are treated GREAT here. They have chiropractor, acupuncture, and massage appointments, are shoed regularly, groomed, turned out every day, fed high quality food, and are kept in incredible condition. The retired horses often go to the Northwest School of Animal Massage for students to practice massaging on. 2. If you don't have your own horse, they have lesson horses. This was one of the hardest things to find when I moved to Washington because I don't own a horse. The lesson horses are super high quality and not over worked at all. 3. You have to take ownership in what you do here. Some other barns will tack up the horse for you and have it waiting once you arrive. At Legacy, you're responsible for retrieving your horse from its stall/paddock, grooming, tacking up, untacking, and cleaning the tack. This is great for some of the younger kids because they learn the basics to taking care of a horse. 4. They host their own fun shows, giving the riding academy and training program students opportunities to compete in a fun environment. The training program is really successful and the students involved are often traveling for horse shows in the warmer months. The facility itself is located at the old Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Woodinville with some trails behind it. There's an indoor and outdoor arena for when it's a nice day out. Shelly's teaching style is a combination of explaining concepts of riding and then creating exercises that encourage riders and horses to demonstrate the concept she is teaching, weather that be straightness, smooth turns, or proper position. Shelly is an excellent horsewoman and Legacy horses all receive impeccable care and training. One of the most notable aspects of Shelly's program is how she teaches proper horsemanship and leadership qualities to young riders and encourages everyone to be involved with the local equestrian community. Many of us who rode with Shelly as juniors became captains or presidents of our college equestrian teams and served on the board of the Washington State Hunter Jumper Association, which puts on shows in the area. Lizzie Kerron, Shelly's assistant and younger sister, is also an excellent instructor and is wonderful with younger kids as well as adults. Lizzie's teaching style compliments Shelly's by her ability to help a rider mentally break down an exercise and explain what riders should be feeling their horses do through each step of the exercise. Legacy also has a lesson program with some of the nicest and well trained lesson horses I've ever encountered. The lesson program always has top quality instruction to teach the basics and offers summer camps and fun shows throughout the year. Horse care at Legacy is a top priority, and many of us call the barn "Spa Legacy" because of all the services and amenities offered (equine massage, chiropractor, therapeutic equipment, equine treadmill to keep horses in shape, just to name a few). If you're looking for a place to learn to ride, take lessons, or compete at the highest level Legacy is the best in the Seattle area.

Soft footing, spacious clean stalls, and a location on a very quiet street equal healthy horses and happy riders. Dressage Dancers has two trainers, both of whom have a few openings in their riding instruction calendars. In addition, Carol will be teaching two separate weeks of intensive riding camps for children this summer. Past camps included two daily individual riding lessons, horse-related crafts, baking, and other fun camp activities (including playing in the hose on really hot days!) I've helped Carol with students and horses at dressage shows and here in the arenas, and have also taken riding lessons here. You will learn the right way to here and you will always be encouraged to do your best and to enjoy your time with the horses. I'm so glad it's a low-drama barn; kids and adults alike can learn here in a supportive environment.

April makes horsemanship fun and exciting in a warm and safe environment. My granddaughter and I have been riding 2 or 3 times a week at Mone Farms for 2+ years. Danielle is an exceptional instructor with an eye for details to match rider to horse and to communicate clearly how to improve riding skills. She is passionate about her horses and their well being. Her horses are beautiful as they are well feed including supplements, exercised regularly, well groomed and LOVED. Danielle owns, manages, and maintains Mone Farms caring for 60+ horses. Most of her horses are rescues that she has given a new life through TLC and training.About half the horses are used in the riding school. The others are cared for and thriving in their retirement. Danielle is actively involved in the training and support of a 4H group preparing the riders and horses for shows as well as transporting the horses to shows. She attends the 4H shows caring for the horses and encouraging and teaching the riders. Mone Farms is a working farm and Danielle works 14-18 hour days, teaching lessons, mucking stalls, feeding horses, hauling hay, making manure dump runs, as well as ordering supplies, maintaining documents, scheduling vet and hoof care, training horses, planning lessons and trail rides, posting horses for sale, and supporting her 4H group. I have been riding here for 2 years and absolutely love it this is a great facility for anything you need if you need lessons Danielle and Vanessa are amazing I have been riding for 2 years and have been showing for about a year and a half and I at least have 30 first places if you are looking for training I have watched Danielle ride and turn horses completely around going from head in the air can only walk with there owners to walk trot canter head to the floor no reins and bording mone farms has beautiful stalls and beds there horses deep all the time the stalls are cleaned everyday and waters are done everyday mone farms also knows what a healthy horse looks like all of there horses are verry fat and happy I have walked the property and not one skinny horse also keep in mind that the only review on here that is bad is my aunt and we are in a family issue right now and she just did it because she needed something to take her issues out on but if you are looking for a great barn go to mone farms for anything you need lessons , leasing , showing, buying, training , bord, and rescuing is also another great thing they do there Danielle has taken so many horses that were going to be slaughtered and transformed them into amazing show horses ,and kids horses, paster pets, and trail horses this barn is absolutely amazing !!! read more

I love this place and wouldn't imagine my life without it! I have learned so much from my years of being here and enjoy it with all my heart. Camp is always super fun and I learned a ton. This includes cleaning stalls, grooming, riding basics, spacing out (while riding), and so much more. There are also a ton of fun activities like painting and jumping minis and going to the lake. I learned a lot from the lessons, including strength, resilience, and important motor skills. The horses are SUPER well cared for and sometimes fat (but happy!). Horses that live in stalls either get put into turn out or get out to play in the round pen for hours! They always get cleaned and have water all the time. The horses are super kind and good with kids, and get proper but stern discipline (NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT PEOPLE CALL ABUSE!) Other animals like cats and dogs at the barn are super well fed and happy. On the trail rides, Danielle is mindful and makes sure that the riders on the horses are happy and that the horses are comfortable. She always has a great guide. I absolutely reccomend this barn, ignore the sensitive people who dont listen, some are even fake or overdramatize what doesnt exist! She is always set on her horses first and caring for their well being. read more

My 6 year old has been riding at Mone Farms since she was 3 years old. This place is her favorite place to be in the whole world! She takes lessons with Danielle's daughter Vanessa and Danielle has always taken a special interest in my daughter and her riding. When my daughter turned 4 her wish was for "her" pony TBoy to come to her birthday party. Despite a very busy lesson schedule Danielle brought TBoy to her party. We will never forget it. When my daughter lost "her" first pony to kidney failure she had a difficult time and Vanessa and Danielle helped her through it. Danielle brought a new pony to the barn with my daughter in mind. She has been riding him ever since. I truly think that if my daughter did not have the love and support she has at Mone Farms that she might not still be riding which would be really sad because she has become a good little rider because of the awesome training at Mone Farms! We get compliments all the time on her riding level for her age thabks to the awesome training she receives. I am forever greatful for the joy Mone Farms has brought to my daughter's life. 14 years ago I came to Mone Farms for the first time . I came to check out a mare named Khandi and I fell in love with her . I bought her from a woman named Shelly that had been boarding at the barn. I also bought a mare from Danielle named Nora. I boarded with Danielle for 3 months and then she hauled my three horses and I to our home in Toppenish washington. Danielle has a love for horses and animals deep in her soul. She is kind and tough but she has a heart of gold . When I left my horses in the care of a friend in Toppenish fr a month so that I could have back surgery he fed them cheek grass hay and Khandi lost about 100 lbs. When I came home and ran my hands over her back I started crying. Realizing I couldn't be there 100% of the time to ensure their safety because if my health I called Danielle amd asked her if she would be willing to come.pick up my horses. Danielle took all three of my mares in without hesitation and got them healthy again and found them homes . Danielle also took my daughter in when I was having family problems. As well as my niece when my sister was having problems. There were times when j was off my bipolar meds that I was angry and said hurtful things.. I can't take back read more

I've been going here for a while and it's awesome, I've made so much progress in riding and have been able to bond with Roy (my fav lesson horse), Danielle is a awesome teacher and has helped me get better at riding and genuinely understand what I'm doing incorrect and how to fix it. The stalls get cleaned daily and the horses are well taken care of and loved, every horse has its own different personality and Danielle helps the rider learn how to work with that specific horse while also teaching basics. The tack up and cool down times are not part of the lesson time so you get to spend time with your horse even while not riding! The trails are beautiful, I recommend going out on them! Also very fairly priced for the area, nearby farms are way more expensive and teach less (I know from experience). Anyways 5/5 I recommend and say hi to Roy for me if you visit! read more

My daughter was terrified of horses at 20 months old so I decided to put her in Mone farms short stuff training program at 22 months. She has now been in lessons for 4 months and has come so far. They eased her in with a mini horse named kisses and let her move up at her own pace. She now is comfortable running around and saying hi to all the horses and animals on the farm and has fallen in love with one of the lesson horses named "Ogo". She is to little to ride him on her own but all the lesson girls are amazing and take her around with them from time to time. I love that she is taught the full package of riding from tacking up and down, grooming and riding. She even gets to help Danielle feed from time to time. From huntseat, western pleasure , jumping, horsemanship, and any basic skill u want to learn Danielle Miller can teach it. She is so knowledgeable with horses. Amazing at putting things in to words that you understand . I have rode under Danielle my whole life , but as a teen I went to 2 other trainers , as they were good as well I felt as if Danielle was much more knowledgeable . She's had over 35 years of exsperiance. There's wonderful trails ! All the horses get deep bedding in their stalls grain , vitamins, hay . Water buckets scrubbed and dumped . Best place around for trail rides and lessons with competitive pricing -- I checked many places around Monroe, Snohomish, and Woodinville. They either cost more or don't have lesson horses. Moné Farms has a covered outdoor arena, where all riding disciplines are taught and riders of all levels are welcome. Plenty of lesson horses to choose from, too. It is a training facility, but also a rescue and the home of a 4H club, Moondust Equestrians. I like the environment here, where everyone helps each other. Great place to board your horse. Very reasonably priced for services provided. 12 x 12 stall with full walls and roof and dutch-door; shavings (changed daily); grain; two feedings per day; turnout; tack locker and other services if you cant be there. It's a very casual, family owned barn. Lessons are provided for kids and adults alike. They also provide trail rides. The place is a bit cluttered, but I know they are working on it. They had some bad luck this year with ranch help. But all-in-all my horse and I are very happy there. read more

I have personally seen several horses come there thin and leave there fat and healthy All the people and the animals are very friendly and obviously very happy and affectinate to everyone. I used to be a boarder at this barn. First few months were fine , then I started to notice the way that Danielle twists other people's words around so that she looks like the victim. Heard some horror stories from other boarders and decided that I didn't want to stay so I took my horse and left . I wouldn't recommend this barn if you are looking for a clean,warm , drama free place to ride your horse or be a boarder. They did have nice trails though. read more

They start you off slow but build a strong foundation for the future. I was a complete beginner and can now get my own horse from the field, groom, saddle, and ride. The focus is on natural horsemanship and balance. I have a horseback riding vacation coming up in August, and they are helping me get ready in time. There are always lots of volunteers on hand as well to assist as needed. I will probably be taking lessons here for years!

Robyn is great with the girls and the horses, offering life lessons disguised as horsemanship lessons. if you have a rider who's interested in truly listening to herself and her animal, this is the place for you! I've been riding with Maya for two and a half years. I came to her barely knowing how to ride…read morewestern, let alone english. Today I have my own horse named Teddi, which Maya helped me choose. We are jumping about 3ft, and I love him more than the world. Maya is one of the most compassionate trainers there is. She is firm, and moves her students along, but knows when they need reassurance. She not only would do anything to protect the safety of her horses, but also watches over all the horses at the Charlottewood barn. There is no possible way Teddi and I would be such a successful team without her. She is a hardworking, and inspirational coach who will try her hardest to make you the best rider you can be. She is extremely experienced, and deals with all types of riders very well. There is VERY RARELY a person she does not get along with. Maya is extremely polite, sweet, and sensitive to riders, as well as their ideas, questions, thoughts, and concerns. When I very first got Teddi, almost a year ago, I could hardly canter around the arena with him. He is a very large, and powerful thoroughbred. I would ride him in a gag, and still have trouble working with him. Within a month I was jumping him. Within 3 months I was riding him with a softer bit. Today, I jump and ride Teddi on trails bareback. We ride in a hackamore now (a bitless bridle). I have a much stronger connection with him, as well as he does with me. None of this would be possible without Maya. She has led me to achieve all these goals. I'm so happy to have her as a trainer, friend, and role model. I couldn't be more blessed to have her in my life. Maya, thank you for helping me find my best friend, Teddi :) and thank you for being an outstanding, and understanding trainer.

Over the 3 months I rode in Maya Huberman's program there were 3 occasions when I arrived to find…read moremy assigned mount unfit to ride. Twice the horse (Griffin, white gelding) was obviously lame and I reported it as such, but it took days before Maya admitted there was an issue with the horse and rested/treated it for a suspected hoof abscess. The final episode was July 4, 2013 when I arrived to find the horse with a raw sore on his head (bite from another horse) right where the leather headstall would rub. Much to my dismay Maya said it was fine and that she'd been using the horse (Ashton) in lessons with no problems for 2 days already. To me it looked quite raw and painful, so I declined to ride the horse in that condition despite pressure from Maya. Finding myself arguing with Maya for a second time about the welfare of her horses was extremely upsetting. At this point I no longer want to do business with Maya or ride in her program, but I do want a refund of the July lease money I paid to her since no riding took place in July. Maya refuses to provide any sort of refund and no signed contract exists, so unfortunately I don't have much hope of ever seeing my money again. The last time I saw the horse (Ashton, palomino Haflinger gelding) was on July 4, 2013. The sore was beneath his left eye and was bad enough that I'm sure it will be visible for a long time. Decide for yourself if you think it hurt. UPDATE: After seeing that family wrote such nice reviews in response to mine, I thought I'd add to my feedback to say that Maya is a good instructor for beginners & children who won't question why a horse is limping or if something Maya does is right or wrong. That is why all of her students are children and beginners. Additionally, although my complaint isn't about her abilities as a riding instructor, I do question what Maya's credentials actually are since she refers to BHS training in her online bio and on her web site but does not mention a specific university or actually receiving a degree.

I would like to have been able to post a good review for Evan Bonner. But, unfortunately, I can't…read more I left with no idea what, if any, training my horse received. Evan was not forthcoming with any information on what exactly he was working on with my horse; and, if I asked I received an evasive reply. The couple of times that I saw him do anything with my horse was a for few minutes during a couple of my so called lessons. I call them so called lessons because Evan either sat and stared at his phone during most of the lesson, or he went off on a nonstop talk that had nothing to do with the lesson or my horse. I also went to a clinic thinking I would learn useful exercises to do with my horse. As with my lessons, he seemed pretty much disinterested, and frequently went off on one of his endless lectures that was not at all related to the clinic. He even said he got bored attending horsemanship clinics put on by other trainers. We did get a nice lunch, though. After two months, I was a few thousand dollars poorer, and not at all sure my horse had improved or learned much. I left with the belief that Evan is totally burned out with horse training, and would rather be spending his time with his new interest of becoming a ferrier. Carrie his wife, however, is very pleasant and accommodating. And, the facility is a good place for boarding. The horses are fed good quality alfalfa, there are automatic watering devices, the stalls are cleaned daily, there is a nice wash rack area, there is daily turnout in large areas, and the facilities are very clean. In all, the horses are very well kept.

Every horse-back-riding lesson Kristi teaches is custom to the rider, and though I've been riding for a long while now, I'm constantly being challenged and learning new things. The facility itself is spectacular. It's located in Monroe of Old Owen Road. It's easy to miss, but there's a brown Gates Equestrian sign by the entrance to the driveway. Once you're parked and enter, there's a single barn aisle with many stalls for horses. In the center, there's a bathroom right next to the two wash stalls, which is super convenient. The tack room is across from the bathroom, and the entrance to the arena is adjacent to the tack room. Everything you need is in one central location and covered, so you don't have to worry about getting wet on a rainy day. The arena is massive as well and covered. Kristi owns several horses and ponies for her lesson program (which are all super high quality and well taken care of). She also teaches lessons to people who haul in and bring their own horse or board their horse at the facility. I've seen her teach kids who've never been on a horse before and riders who compete over large jumps. No matter the type of rider, she can come up with an incredible lesson so you always feel like you're getting a quality lesson. I highly recommend taking lessons and boarding your horse with Kristi!

Kristi was fabulous with the children, and handled the older child's nervousness brilliantly. She gave the children carrots to feed the pony, and time to pet the pony before riding. She even did "jumps" walking the pony over some logs of wood, which the kids loved! The facilities are top notch and the ponies were healthy and very well cared for. We couldn't recommend Gates Equestrian more highly. We will certainly be back again and look forward to the children's weekend pony rides once those are up and running!

Sue is a perfectionist in making sure that every horse there is healthy and fit and that the barn is spotless. She gives tirelessly of herself in answering questions and helping in medical emergencies. Everything at Bridlewood is the best that money can buy: the hay, the bedding, the arena footing. The proximity of Bridle Trails Park across the street is just an added perk. The people who board there are uniformly friendly and drama free. It doesn't get better than this.

We have gone on many trail rides, pony rides and even leased a horse for a year at a facility near Lake Stevens. Tina Wolfe has, by far, the best program to fit our needs. Tina is kind, patient and professional. Her lessons are either private or semiprivate and very affordable in comparison to other programs. The horses are well cared for, responsive, gentle and beautiful. The facility she is teaches at is quite, large, and DRY! The lessons are 30 minutes and includes a small trail ride at the end. Another wonderful bonus, she teaches cart driving to the lesson kids! I found the…read morerates to be awesome (much less than other nearby stables), and Troy is incredibly encouraging to my brand new riders (11 and 9). There is a viewing room upstairs for us to relax while waiting for the rider to finish their lesson. We homeschool, and it's great to have lessons in the morning while everyone else is in school.

The program includes a strong foundation in horsemanship and requires riders to master before advancing to the next level. The summer camp is amazing and the counselors are very supportive. My kids look forward to the camp each year.
